It seems more and more like this site....

....is doing everything in it's power to demoralize the conservative base and convince people that all is lost and not to care.  It's having an effect on me, certainly.

Of course, I'm all for recognizing our problems and dealing with them, but at what point does the doom and gloom become counterproductive?

Relax

I am not a John McCain fan, but the fact is this - he will be our next President. As a conservative I am not the least bit happy with the state of affairs in which we find ourselves, but I have been in politics long enough to recognize a sure thing when I see it.

America is not about to elect a black liberal as President. Ain't going to happen. Clinton is staying in this race because she and Bill understand it as well. Although her chances of victory is only marginally better than Obama's, she is absolutely correct in saying that he is unelectable.

In a year where the Dems could have nominated a ham sandwitch and won going away, they have managed to shoot themselves in the foot. Edwards, Dodd, Biden or my next door neighbor, Joe Six-Pack, would have been a shoe-in. At the end of the day, they have allowed the kooks to call the shots.

Look at it this way. There are a whole bunch of Independents and Reagan Democrats that are exceedingly reluctant to vote for a liberal - let alone Hillary or Barack. Give them a reasonable moderate alternative, like McCain, and their decision is a lot easier to make.

What is funny about the whole thing is this - Republicans can never be expected to vote for a liberal Democrat. The folks who will defeat Obama (and risk the rascist label) will be the center-left of the political spectrum.

Murdoch is silly. If there's

Murdoch is silly. If there's any landslide it will be in McCain's favor. If Obama wins it'll be a close one.

dwp is correct. The Democrats backed themselves in a corner by choosing between either the single most polarizing figure in American politics or a very liberal black man with a funny Muslim name. (They apparently failed to recognize the false dichotomy.) Regardless of which of the two they decide to go with (if they ever make up their minds), they have given the GOP an unexpected opportunity to keep the White House red.
