The Last Time I saw Peggy Noonan She Was At The Vatican

Several  years ago, I sat through a somewhat annoying program at the John Paul II auditorium in Vatican City moderated by Peggy Noonan.

Noonan embarrassed the Cardinal in attendance by repeatedly referring to the living Pope as a Saint. She was clearly off base and a young monk sitting near me said so.

Noonan has worn her Catholicism on her sleeve in books and in appearances.

Now this public Catholic has come full circle. She has endorsed Barak Obama for President.

I guess her conscience compelled her to fleetingly address Obama's abortion stance. But even here she pulls her punches. She does not mention that Obama supports partial-birth abortions, the barbaric killing of humans. Instead she chastises him for being too much of an intellectual when he said that the abortion question was above his pay grade.

In her endorsement, she declares that liberalism has triumphed (while on the same page Democrat Doug Schoen argues that Obama's victory is not a mandate for specific change) and she paints a most unflattering personal picture of McCain.

I know people who worked with Noonan in the White House who accused her of  taking credit for work others had done. Now, out on her own she seems like a valueless political pundit who is throwing Reaganism out the window.

Don't be surprised if she is the first "conservative" to interview Obama, if he wins.

Mitt Romney's Anti-Palin Crusade

The American Spectator is reporting that Republican operatives on behalf of Mitt Romney are actively trying to sink Sara Palin.

This is the second credible source who has reported this to me.

The Specator piece also mentions how unhelpful Romney has been to other Republican candidates.

This election has shown the worst side of the Republican Party. Along with being ideologically adrift, the Party has an abudance of "supporters" who need to learn Ronald Reagan's Eleventh Commandment. Republicans should not speak ill of fellow Republicans.

There is no need to detail the premediated, destructive attacks of David Frum, Peggy Noonan, and Mitt Romney. There is need to remember those who let the Democrats off the hook by directing their fire on Republicans.

National Review Online has a longish defense of Romney. The majority of this piece is a compelling defense of Romney being active this campaign season. The paragraph on Palin is not persuasive.

Values Voters Speak UP

Value Voters go to the airwaves.

Obama's Jesse Jackson Problem

Speaking about an Obama Administration, Jesse Jackson lashes against so-called Zionists who control America.

Will McCain raise this in tonight's debate? Its a potent issue.

McCain Getting Blasted In Pennsylvania

Spent the weekend in Pennsylvania and could not escape Obama health care commericals accusing McCain of planning to impose the first ever tax on health care benefits.

Obama is running at least two commercials on this issue with white women bemoaning the threat from McCain. McCain's failure to answer this attack will be devestating.

The only fight back I saw was a Republican National Committee ad accusing Obama of b8ing a big spender. It charges Obama with wanting to spend a trillion dollars!!

Having just watched a Republican President (supported by McCain) ram through a $700 billion bail out on top of a $300 billion package the RNC ad is clearly barking up the wrong tree. No one believes McCain or any politican will cut spending.

As Bloomberg Tries To Overturn Term Limits

As Mayor Mike, urges the inept New York City Council to overturn a term limits law that was passed by voters twice New Yorkers For Term Limits has issued the record of Bloomberg's duplicity on this issue. The record with 2008 quotes.

File this away. It could be used against this potential candidate in the future.

Obama and Martin Luther King

Obama will be accepting the Democratic nomination on the 45th Anniverasry of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream Speech."

These guys sees their opportunities and takes them.

Club For Growth Likes Cantor Candidacy

The politically potent Club For Growth has joined a growing chorus of conservatives who are expressing support for the idea of Eric Cantor being McCain's running mate.

Today's Washington Times weighs Cantor's pros and cons and concludes he would be an asset to the ticket. (One of the cons being he might be too conservative.)

Meanwhile the independent conservative grassroots campaign for Cantor is picking up steam and has been noticed at Politico and the Wall Street Journal.

Cantor Gets Call From McCain Campaign

Since I made the case for Congressman Eric Cantor to be selected by McCain as his running mate, Cantor has proven himself to be a feisty campaigner, an effective critic of Obama, and a creditable candidate for Vice President.

AP is now reporting that McCain has asked Cantor to turn over personal information. It sounds like he is a finalist for the number two spot.

Kos Begins Campaign Against Eric Cantor for VP

A few weeks ago I made the case for John McCain to choose Congressman Eric Cantor for his running mate. Since that time a Cantor candidacy has received quite a bit to support.

Politico, The Washington Post, and (now) Daily Kos are taking Cantor very seriously.

Kos has launched a multi-post attack on the conservative Cantor. This is an indication that the Left understands that the articulate, web-savy, conservative, Mr. Cantor would add an important missing dimension to McCain's campaign. No higher negative campliment can the Left offer a Republican candidate.

Once again, I want to argue that the choice of Cantor will cause the Republican base and a few Democrat constituencies to sit up and finally take notice of the McCain campaign.
