As Bloomberg Tries To Overturn Term Limits

As Mayor Mike, urges the inept New York City Council to overturn a term limits law that was passed by voters twice New Yorkers For Term Limits has issued the record of Bloomberg's duplicity on this issue. The record with 2008 quotes.

File this away. It could be used against this potential candidate in the future.

Obama and Martin Luther King

Obama will be accepting the Democratic nomination on the 45th Anniverasry of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream Speech."

These guys sees their opportunities and takes them.

Club For Growth Likes Cantor Candidacy

The politically potent Club For Growth has joined a growing chorus of conservatives who are expressing support for the idea of Eric Cantor being McCain's running mate.

Today's Washington Times weighs Cantor's pros and cons and concludes he would be an asset to the ticket. (One of the cons being he might be too conservative.)

Meanwhile the independent conservative grassroots campaign for Cantor is picking up steam and has been noticed at Politico and the Wall Street Journal.

Cantor Gets Call From McCain Campaign

Since I made the case for Congressman Eric Cantor to be selected by McCain as his running mate, Cantor has proven himself to be a feisty campaigner, an effective critic of Obama, and a creditable candidate for Vice President.

AP is now reporting that McCain has asked Cantor to turn over personal information. It sounds like he is a finalist for the number two spot.

Kos Begins Campaign Against Eric Cantor for VP

A few weeks ago I made the case for John McCain to choose Congressman Eric Cantor for his running mate. Since that time a Cantor candidacy has received quite a bit to support.

Politico, The Washington Post, and (now) Daily Kos are taking Cantor very seriously.

Kos has launched a multi-post attack on the conservative Cantor. This is an indication that the Left understands that the articulate, web-savy, conservative, Mr. Cantor would add an important missing dimension to McCain's campaign. No higher negative campliment can the Left offer a Republican candidate.

Once again, I want to argue that the choice of Cantor will cause the Republican base and a few Democrat constituencies to sit up and finally take notice of the McCain campaign.

A Major Reason Why The Netroots Is Kicking Our B***

This is a debate worth having. -Patrick

After countless blog posts and articles on why the Left is dominating the Right on the web it has become abundantly clear to me that a major reason for this phenomenon is that the Left places ideology before partisan politics. The Netroots grew by offering liberal activists countless opportunities to voice their opinions and organize on the Web. They did not compromise their wrapped ideology to defend apostate Democrats.

The prime example of this is the campaign against lifelong Democrat Joe Lieberman. This game plan took a page from the rise of the modern conservative movement. Buckley's National Review vigorously opposed the popular Republican Dwight Eisenhower on several occasions. When Richard Nixon wandered to the Left the conservative movement rallied behind the challenge of Representative John Ashbrook. And there are countless other examples of conservatives directly challenging Republicans when the Republicans acted like liberals.

Over at the Corner Byron York lifts quote from Kos:

Markos Moulitsas made these statements minutes apart on MSNBC:

I'm not going to carry water for Barack Obama…I'm not going to be like the Republicans who excused George Bush time and time again.

He goes on to state that questionable assessment that Obama is not tacking to the center.

Which should not blind us to the lesson to be learned from the above tactic. Several studies have shown that web activists are driven by causes. The Left's success is testimony in support of that assessment.

The Rightroots is suffering from the lack of sharply defined ideological goals. Our most potent issues, defense of the traditional family, right to life, English as the official language, opposition to illegal immigration rarely make it to the Right blogs.

On the contrary Instapundit and the Pajamas Media crowd support gay marriage. The free market, neocons defend open borders. And most blogs refuse to call out Republicans when they are wrong.

If we keep this up our web movement will be still born in the crib. We can not be or be perceived as apologists for the Republican Party. Conservative principles must be our guiding light.

Crime Without Guns

Gun confiscation enthusiasts, led by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, argue that we would virtually eradicate violent crime if we rid our society of guns.

There is no modern, Western society more gun free than Great Britain. Legal guns are in the hands of the State: The police and the military. Private citizens are forbidden to own guns.

Has this ended violent crime in this society? NO.

In the past year there have been 20,000 serious crimes commited at knife point. In fact panic has set in British society and politicans are now thrashing about for solutions to the problem.

Here's an idea: Allow law abiding citizens to carry guns. That would reduce the number of crimes.

Jesse Helms Has Died

Senator Jesse Helms a great conservative died on July 4th, today.

He follows the deaths of Jefferson and Adams on the day celebrating our Independence.

America The Beautiful

Thank you Michael Ledeen.

Thank you Mr. Wayne.

Pajamas Media: Independence Day and Gay Marriage

What is wrong with the Libertarian Right?

They deliberately ignore 2,000 years of tradition, every religion in the world,  and the legal system of the United States that never endorsed the idea of Gay Marriage.

And equating Gay Marriage with Independence Day.

In terms of votes one Rabbi and one Christian Minister influences more votes than the Pajamas Media crowd. With allies like this who needs.....
