Asks Sen. McCain a Question

Senator McCain,...it's 4th and goal, which play are you going to call?

Dear Senator McCain,

It's the last play to be called of the Presidential Election of 2008.

With this one play and by scoring a touchdown, you win! However,...due to some bad play calling on the previous three downs, your campaign has been backed up to the 50 yard line.

You call your last time out and stand back,...all alone and think about which play you're going to call.

You could call Gov. Mike Huckabee in to be your Vice President.

Asking Mike to bring in with him his Grassroots Coalition, HucksArmy, all of the true Conservatives (Religious, Social and Compassionate Economic) and the Southern states that he won during the primaries, as well as the Pro-Lifers, the Fair Taxers, the Homeschoolers, etc...to get into this game and be your blockers.

Gov. Huckabee could snap the ball to you, and immediately start running right up the middle of the field,...uniting and directing all of these blockers.  You follow his lead and begin running full steam ahead toward the goal line.

Result,...Touchdown!!!  YOU AND MIKE WIN THE ELECTION!!!

OR,

You could call in another Vice President, who doesn't have as large a supportive team of blockers.  Maybe he could bring some of the Moderates and Independents to be your blockers,...those that your opponent isn't going to get to vote for him.

You could decide to throw a Hail Mary, to this Vice President.  As the ball is snapped to you, you drop back to the throw the ball, however those Moderates and Independents aren't able to hold back the blitzing Democratic linemen,...as you rush the throw, the ball goes high and deep into the back of the end zone.

At this moment of the play,...you begin to wonder if this Vice President has the executive experience and the proven leadership skills to negotiate through the hovering Democratic defenders that are surrounding the anticipated landing area of your pass.

Does he have the skills to step up, like he has demonstrated in the past, to leap up and snatch the ball away and make the miraculous touchdown catch that is necessary to win the election for the both of you?

QUESTIONS:

Why would you make this call?  Why would you put your campaign and the future of our Country in this position?   Why wouldn't you call on Gov. Huckabee and all of these supporting blockers to run with you right down the middle of the field and score the winning touchdown to secure this election?  A sure handed, proven play, guaranteed to deliver a victory!!!

The entire voting population of our Country is sitting in the stands watching the last play of this election,...all of us Huckabee blockers are waiting to get off the sideline and into this game and do whatever we need to do to get you over the goal line and into that end zone!!!

Which play are you going to call?

Michigan supporters tell McCain Camp only Huckabee can mobilize GOP base

Backers point to Rasmussen, Zogby polls

Michigan Supporters tell McCain Camp only Huckabee can mobilize GOP Base

Michigan supporters of former Gov. Mike Huckabee's presidential candidacy Monday said they have delivered a statement to Sen. John McCain's campaign urging McCain to select Huckabee as his vice presidential running mate.

The Huckabee supporters and other social conservatives in Michigan and nationally last week were shocked by the McCain camp's serious discussion of selecting a running mate who favors legal abortion on demand.

The statement -- delivered by e-mail and fax Monday to McCain's Michigan and national campaign headquarters -- reads as follows:

1.  It is our belief that a large number of Christians do not currently plan to vote for Senator McCain because of his past positions and statements on issues of concern to Christian voters.  This includes many voters who were not previously involved politically but were activated to support a Republican presidential campaign by former Gov. Mike Huckabee.

* A poll published earlier this year by the Christian Post found that Sen. Barack Obama and even Sen. Hillary Clinton outpolled McCain among Christian conservatives.  (Notably, former Gov. Mike Huckabee was by far the most popular candidate among those polled.)

Newsweek reported Friday that "a new poll from the Barna Group, a Christian research firm, shows Obama leadingMcCain 43 percent to 34 percent among likely Christian voters, with advantages among non-evangelical born again Christians (43% to 31%); notional Christians (44% to 28%)...Catholics (39% vs. 29%); and Protestants (43% to 34%). The only Christian subgroup (Obama) isn't winning? Evangelicals."  http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/stumper/archive/2008/08/15/loose-threads.aspx

2.  We strongly believe that if Gov. Huckabee is part of the Republican Party ticket, many, many more of these Christians and Huckabee supporters will not only vote for the McCain ticket but will do something far more important: actively and enthusiastically work for its success.

3.  The coalition supporting Gov. Huckabee has only grown in recent months, as evidenced by the Denver Letter to Sen. McCain signed by Christian activist leaders nationally.

4.  Of all possible vice presidential candidates who would be acceptable to pro-life, pro-family voters, there is little question that Gov. Huckabee has the highest name identification and recognition nationally.  We believe his selection would overnight give the McCain ticket something it currently lacks and most likely cannot win without: a national network of values voters and volunteers passionately committed to the values and message brought forth this past year by Gov. Huckabee.

5. Thus, this statement does not reflect merely our personal preference for the candidate we supported during the primary election contests.  It reflects our political judgment that selecting Gov. Mike Huckabee as the vice presidential candidate is the quickest and surest way to exciting, activating, and mobilizing the socially conservative base of the Republican Party nationwide, the very coalition Sen. McCain recently said no Republican could win without.  [Detroit News: "(James) Muffett said Friday that during the meeting, McCain (said) he respected social conservatives' views (and) believed that Republican presidents from Ronald Reagan on could not have won without them."] http://info.detnews.com/redesign/blogs/lowdownblog/index.cfm?blogid=438

6. Further, two recent professional public opinion polls validated not only our political judgment but Gov. Huckabee's appeal to all voters, not just social conservatives.

    * A Rasmussen poll three weeks ago found that among all general election voters, Gov. Mike Huckabee had the highest favorable ratings among all possible vice presidential candidates included in the survey.  (Notably, the same poll found that former Gov. Mitt Romney had the highest unfavorability rating of all possible candidates included.) http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/pt_survey_toplines/july_2008/toplines_gop_vp_candidates_july_25_27_2008

    * A Zogby poll four weeks ago found that "among likely voters, 27% would be more likely to support McCain with Huckabee on the ticket," the highest percentage of all possible vice presidential candidates included in the survey. http://zogby.com:80/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1530

7.  Conversely, it is our judgment that the quickest and surest way Sen. McCain could alienate, demoralize, and deactivate social conservative activists and voters nationwide would be to select a vice presidential candidate who they believe does not share their values and worldview.  Those would include former Gov. Mitt Romney, former Gov. Tom Ridge, Gov. Charlie Crist, Sen. Joe Lieberman, and others

8.  While other possible vice presidential candidates are believed to share socially conservative values and would thus be philosophically acceptable -- Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Gov. Bobby Jindal, Rep. Rob Portman, Gov. Mark Sanford, Gov. Sarah Palin, and others -- none of them has national name identification and a national organization of volunteers committed to their support comparable to Gov. Mike Huckabee.  For example, the same Zogby poll which found that 27 percent of likely voters would be more likely to vote for McCain with Gov. Huckabee on the ticket, found that putting Gov. Jindal on the ticket would move only 5 percent to be more likely to support McCain, while Pawlenty motivated only 3 percent.

9.  In summary, Gov. Mike Huckabee's selection as Sen. McCain's running mate would motivate more American voters to support Sen. McCain's candidacy than any other possible running mate, and it would mobilize a pre-existing grassroots network of social conservative activists and volunteers that no other potential running mate could match, not even those philosophically acceptable to the Republican base.

10.  The election of Sen. Barack Obama is unthinkable.  Because we want Sen. McCain to succeed, and because we believe his vice presidential selection may be determinative in whether he has the grassroots volunteer support required for a Republican victory, we strongly and respectfully urge Sen. McCain to help us help him -- and make iteasy, not hard, for us to persuade others to support and work for his candidacy -- by selecting former Gov. Mike Huckabee as his vice presidential running mate.

Respectfully submitted,

      Huckabee's Michigan Grassroots  Coalition

Obama removes U.S. Flag from Campaign Jet--Replaces it with 'O'

This article scares me more than anything I've heard in awhile.  This is going to get me involved in the McCain campaign quicker than anything else!  WE MUST STOP OBAMA!!!

As part of a month-long aircraft makeover, a painted American flag was removed from the tail of Sen. Barack Obama's official campaign airplane and was replaced with the presidential candidate's trademark "O" symbol.

The refurbished 757 was unveiled to members of the news media today, 41 of whom boarded the craft and took off to meet Obama in Amman, Jordan, where the presidential candidate will stop as part of a Middle Eastern and European tour.

Obama traveled to the Mideast earlier this week on board a separate airplane.

Fox News blogger Bonny Kapp, traveling on Obama's new airplane, reported:

"The North American jet that flew Obama and his traveling crew around for much of the primary season was refurbished with new seats and power for each passenger a must on the campaign trail. And the plane that once had an American flag on its tail now sports the Obama 'O.'"

Obama's 'O' symbol is red, white and blue.

Most official U.S. government aircraft, including Air Force One, have U.S. flags on their tails.

Both Fox News and the Chicago Sun-Times posted pictures of the Obama campaign's redressed airplane, which does not have an American flag or any other U.S. national symbols on the section that sports the airplane door from which Obama and his team will enter and exit.

The airplane boasts Obama's anthem, "Change We Can Believe In" and the candidate’s website address.

The aircraft also has required identification numbers and a U.S. flag to identify the nationality of the aircraft.

According to Chicago Sun-Times reporter Lynn Sweet, the refurbished Obama aircraft features a "first class" section for the candidate and his closest advisors; several "business class" seats, and a large coach section, usually meant for the traveling press corps.

Sweet reported fruit and cheese platters greeted reporters on board the flight. Dinner options offered were beef medallions, baked tilapia or eggplant parmesan.

She wrote the Obama campaign provided overnight kits for the flight that include toothbrush, mouthwash, socks, Neutrogena body lotion and lip moisturizer, Scope mouthwash, ear plugs and a blindfold for sleeping.

A Trucker's Perspective to Sen. McCain: You've Got a Real Opportunity This Week!!

7-21-08

Dear Senator McCain,

This week, in my opinion, offers you a great opportunity at this crucial time during the 2008 Presidential campaign!

While Senator Obama tries to obtain foreign policy experience in the Middle East, and has all three of the public air waves' major network anchors with him to cover this "historic" event...a thought came to me.

What if you held a news conference, here at home and announced some "major" news yourself-and thereby forcing Senator Obama to interrupt his foreign policy "tour" and respond directly to your announcement?

First, Senator Obama has said: "I will debate Senator McCain anytime, anyplace, anywhere...Let's do it"!

Yet, when you announced the idea of a "Lincoln-Douglas townhall" type debate, just you and him on stage asking each other questions and debating the real issues that are facing our Country...Senator Obama wanted to do one on our 4th of July!!! He knew most all Americans would be too busy with our families in celebrating our Country's Independence Day and not able to watch the debate.

Take control of this election process and challenge Senator Obama to prove to the American people his worthiness, intelligence and experience to be our next Commander in Chief!

Come out and announce the schedule of four (4) such debates; 1.) The Economy and Taxes 2.) Energy Policies 3.) The War on Terrorism/National Security, and 4.) Education/Healthcare/Immigration and your vision of our Country's future.

Ask four universities to host these debates on their campuses and invite all of the media networks to cover these debates. Set the locations, times (I'd prefer Sunday nights in August...no football games will be on TV yet) and the topics to be debated.

Stop negotiating with Obama's campaign about these debates!!!

It's obvious to me that he's afraid to debate you one on one...with no scripted questions and answers coming from liberally-biased media moderators. His campaign is deathly afraid of this format and knows that Senator Obama does not have enough experience or worldly knowledge of the facts and that he can't, ..."think quickly and then respond ‘Presidentially’ on his feet".

If the Obama campaign announces that they can't make the places and times you set...Go ahead and have the debates anyway!!!

Respond by telling the American people that Senator Obama is not willing to meet you anytime, anyplace, anywhere...like he has said, but you are willing to show up and take questions from the audience with an empty stool and microphone on the stage next to you, readily available for Senator Obama if he's willing to change his "busy" schedule and show up!!!

Show us, the American people the real leadership skills you have demonstrated throughout your entire life and take charge of this Presidential Election!!!

Please give us four opportunities to see you and Senator Obama really debate the real issues the American people want to hear about.

We do not want to watch those boring, time-monitored, answered and rebutted, formatted Presidential debates of the past few elections.

We want and need to watch these new and spontaneous type of debates...so we can vote for the best candidate to lead our country at such a crucial time in our Country's history, who through these debates will prove to be... you!!!

Sincerely and respectfully submitted to you for your consideration,

The CEO in the White House

The White House once had a CEO in the Oval Office.

This man was an intellectual heavyweight. He had an ability to innovate in ways that were superior to his peers. He also had a penchant for business. Although he started working for an international corporation, he quickly worked his way up the ranks, proving himself capable of handling one difficult assignment after another. He eventually rose to the partner level.

Then he branched out and founded his own company. He had a mind to cut costs and was successful at it. He became a very wealthy man. Then, tired of simply making lots of money, he headed up a non-business organization in which he was responsible for the complex coordination of an extremely important effort that involved the coordination of international efforts. He formed liaisons with foreign governments and, just like he had been in business, was successful in taking a very complicated operation and making it work.

Afterwards, with his reputation at an all-time high, this CEO decided to try his hand at government administration. Although he was viewed as someone who teetered between the two parties, he took his place within a Republican administration and served at a time at which times were good and people had a positive outlook of the future. He worked hard toward the increase of efficiency in business and industry - all good stuff. He worked to improve relations between business and government - more good stuff - and was viewed by many as a natural for an even higher position.

And then his supporters got their wish. He became the President of the United States. And even though he was well versed in the economy and had been associated with one of the most business-oriented Presidents in U.S. History, his knowledge soon proved not as useful as many thought it would. Within the first year of his Presidency, a set of events transpired that caused the confidence and positive outlook that many Americans had held to evaporate. Consumers began to radically scale back their spending. Earnings fell. Banks collapsed. Many mortgages could not be paid. Unemployment sharply rose. And the conditions worsened for many years to come as the public began to despise him as much as they had eagerly hoped for what his skills might bring to the nation.

The CEO's name was Herbert Hoover. He was the 31st President of the United States.

Although Hoover was brilliant and was actually a very decent man (he saved millions from starvation in the aftermath of World War II and donated his salary to charity), he had several problems that kept him from being a good president. First, he could not seem to personally relate to the plight that many in the nation were experiencing. Secondly, his view on the role of government was such that he didn't think that it needed to directly intervene even when the intense suffering of a huge number of its people reached a catastrophic level.

The man who knew how to run an organization efficiently did not know how to run a country at a time it was in desperate need of empathetic leadership.

Being President means that you are the Chief Executive, the Commander-in-Chief, the Chief Legislator, the Chief Diplomat and the Chief Citizen. No one person with one set of skills will naturally be good in all the things that are required of the Presidency. President Lyndon Johnson once said that "the presidency has made every man who occupied it, no matter how small, bigger than he was; and no matter how big, not big enough for its demands."

America would not be as great a country as it is without our talented leaders of business, who are responsible for coordinating much of the nation's exports, innovation and employment. However, the best predictor of success as President is experience in running a government. And running a government is very different from running a business. As a CEO, you can dismiss people pretty much at will. People are afraid of you because their livelihood depends on you approving of them. But as President, to get anything done at all, you need the cooperation of the majority of 535 people (Congress) whose loyalty to you depends on what you can do for them, with each of them caring more about the approval of their constituents than of you. And you have nine Supreme Court Jurists who can never be fired (not even if you "hired" them) who will do whatever they feel is right - including undoing whatever you are able to get Congress to agree to - regardless of how it affects you.

Being a good businessman is a great life accomplishment. But success in business requires a different set of skills than success in the presidency. To be successful, one must be able to motivate and inspire people that they didn't hire and that they can't fire. Talent and knowledge are not the same as leadership.

Dear Sen. McCain: A Real-Life Perspective from Trucker Randy from Michigan

As a Trucker from Michigan, this is my perspective in a letter to Sen. McCain on the urgent issue of drilling at ANWR:

July 14, 2008

Dear Senator McCain,

As our Presidential nominee and a great leader in the Senate, please review the following facts and please consider changing your position on drilling in ANWR, IMMEDIATELY!!!

Based on the following facts, you would be totally justified in changing your position on this and you could even sponsor a bill in the Senate that would  force Senator Obama to vote against it and the American People's pocketbooks!!!  I would love to see you two debate this in the Presidential Debates later this year, prior to the general election in November!!!

I made a delivery this morning in Canton, Michigan...after I received my fuel advance, I went to the closest truck stop and bought fuel.  The load was a short run and I only received $120.00 for my advance.

I got to the truck stop and diesel fuel was $4.899 a gallon and it feels like it's over 80 degrees here today...which means the pumps are hotter than they were when they were calibrated, so I'm going to get less actual fuel than it says on the pump.

Regardless, I was only able to buy 24.484 gallons for $119.95.

Based on my truck getting 6 MPG, I'll only be able to do my next run if it is less than 120 miles or closer (5 gallons/30 miles will be needed to run my generator/APU while I wait for my next load today).  Based on my first short run and another short run hopefully this afternoon, I won't drive enough loaded miles today to pay my bills for today!!!

I will be at a loss for today, that I will have to make up tomorrow, plus be

profitable on my runs tomorrow for tomorrow, or eventually I'm going to have to stop trucking!!!!  I am not the Federal Government and cannot continue to run my trucking business on a deficit or at a loss.  I don't get to just print more money to pay my bills...my creditors want real money from me!!!  We need lower oil, diesel fuel and gas prices IMMEDIATELY!!!

Please review these facts and come out and tell the American people that you have made an informed decision and have changed your position on drilling in ANWR, ... and as a result you are introducing (for the Senate's IMMEDIATE consideration) a bill that will allow American oil companies to drill in ANWR!

I'd rather give my money to American oil companies than give it to the Middle East!

I'd rather they put my fellow Americans to work by getting us that oil, and maybe

increasing the supply enough to have the market force down these high prices, IMMEDIATELY!!!

Thank you Senator McCain for your time and consideration of my opinions.  These comparison, perspective, and photos say it much better than I can.

Mike Huckabee: I Trust Him!

As a man of a solid record of integrity and character, I trust Gov. Huckabee's decisions, as they are always based on good judgment, even when they are misunderstood, as this was.  He recently made a statement about HuckPAC's choice to support Don Young:

http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/arc ... n_youn.php<!-- m -->

"I have been following the comments regarding Don Young today with interest. Your opinions are important to me and our team, so having read another comment just now asking for an explanation of our endorsement, I wanted to make sure you heard from me directly.

Don Young has been a consistent pro-family, pro-life vote in the Congress. Don also endorsed my campaign and stood by me in the public arena defending my record from false attacks when other members of Congress wouldn't be seen with me. I don't expect everyone to agree with each endorsement we make. I am thankful that we are able to talk about our differences openly and respectfully. Thank you for your comments."--Mike Huckabee

That's good enough for me!

A Real-Life Perspective from Trucker Randy

I'm a 50 year old, Conservative, Catholic, Husband, Father & Grand-Father, independent Truck Driver from Michigan.

I am a Christian with deep traditional values, but do reject the label "born-again evangelical" that has been placed upon "all" of Mike Huckabee's supporters.  We are not all in a neat little box, but from varied beliefs, and many occupations and backgrounds.  The one thing we have in common is finding a true conservative voice in Mike Huckabee, who is a man of integrity, character, and someone we can TRUST.  All characteristics that are uncommon in politics.   There is no "typical" Mike Huckabee supporter.  Almost all of "us" have never been involved in politics before or enthusiastically supported a candidate until this election process.

Ronald Reagan was the 1st President I voted for, twice.                                                             George H.W. & W. Bush, each got my vote,       4 times.

I would like to offer to you some real world, street perspective, as I see things... as I criss-cross America and Canada in my work as an Owner-Operator.

First, freight is down and has been declining in the last two years.  Even with diesel fuel going through the roof, shippers are still shopping around to get the lowest shipping costs for the products.  We truckers, have not had a "raise" in the past 10 years, but are asked to lower are charges, every day!

I stay out 3-4 weeks at a time, leaving my family, my church and my own bed, just to make my payments.  After fuel, insurances, truck payment, maintenance on the truck...I have no money left over for savings, donations or even Christmas presents for my grandchildren.  My wife cried at Christmas 07...It made me feel horrible, the worst I've felt as the provider to my family, since 1984!

We need to change the economy, homeland security, energy and tax policies in our country, or we will experience another Great Depression!

Barack Obama will surely not make the necessary changes that our country needs, and will lead us directly into that depression.

Therefore, John McCain must be elected as our next President, period!

So, to make that happen, Mike Huckabee would be, in my humble opinion, Sen. McCain's best VP pick.

I would ask that Sen. McCain employ Gov. Huckabee to work with the Congress and Senate, like he did with the Democrats in Arkansas...to shut down the IRS, and implement the "Fair Tax" system.

Our economy would turn around...within months.  The Stock market would go crazy, corporations and the jobs they create would flock to the USA, offshore monies would come back to our Country, jobs would be created and due to the competition for skilled workers, wages and benefits would increase.  Un-insured people would be able to get a good paying job with health insurance.

Secondly, Mike Huckabee's Secure America Plan was the only reason Jim Gilchrist of the Minuteman Project, endorsed and supported Gov. Huckabee for President.

We true Conservatives, want the border shut down and closed!!!

We do not want Sen. McCain's comprehensive approach to illegal immigration and amnesty for those illegally here in our Country.

Sen. McCain could ask Gov. Huckabee to implement his Secure America Plan by working with Homeland Security, the Border Patrol, and grassroot citizens to "watch" the new security cameras on the border via the Internet and help secure our borders.

Getting the illegal workers that are getting paid cash...under the table, registered and paying into our treasury via the "Fair Tax", which they are not currently doing (I know this for a fact because I have asked them on the loading docks I bump every day in my work) would generate huge revenue to our Country.

Sen. McCain could then put to use his vast experience to deal with the Middle East, oil production there and here in our Country.  He could focus on alternative fuels and energy systems.

Sen. McCain could create a true and final peace that would stabilize energy prices and reverse the bad feelings and impressions most of the Middle East has toward our Country.

Also, he could veto every earmarked, pork-spending bill that Congress sends to his desk!

I think the only reason Sen. McCain didn't support W.'s tax cuts, was because they didn't contain the necessary spending cuts John thought were necessary to reduce our deficit that we are going to be passing on to our children and grandchildren.

President McCain could be the Maverick Republican he has always been and implement radical changes in the way our Country does things!

With his Navy experience he could turn this ship completely around and get it going in the right direction, for the first time since our founding Fathers invented this wonderful experiment.

By picking Gov. Huckabee as his VP, he would excite and bring our donations and grass root support from the entire Army of us true Conservatives, (who have compassion for the working class) and Iowa and the entire South, i.e. the states Mike Huckabee won in the primaries.

Along with the religious evangelicals and Catholics that believe in everything Sen. McCain and Gov. Huckabee support regarding abortion, marriage and family values.

Sen. McCain and Gov. Huckabee could make the GOP the real Grand Old Party it once was under Ronald Reagan, but on 110 octane ethanol enriched racing fuel!!!

We must change these things in order to win this November and take our Country in a new direction!

Sincerely and respectfully submitted,

Randy Bishop
