Eric Holder

More Clown College Antics.

If it weren’t so comi-tragic in these days of the constant threat of terrorist penetration of our vaunted ‘national security’ apparatus, it would make a great sit-com… or a third-ring, floppy-shoe, fright-wig clown act.

We have a Justice Department trying to be the CIA, FBI and  NSA all in one delightful package, under our intrepid and totally inept Attorney General Eric Holder. It’s one grandstand play after another, trying to set up MASSIVE show trials on American shores in order to give sterling individuals, like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, a year long showboat opportunity to spiel his vitriol in front of the cameras for all of this country’s avowed enemies to see.

Obama And Eric Holder

Now, Obama’s ever-dense administration has finally gotten the message from the American people that we don’t want these people tried in civil courts and we REALLY don’t want terrorists Mirandized so that they can clam up, holding vital information that conceivably could reveal attacks pending against US citizens and interests. The “Christmas Bomber” was only unsuccessful by accident and ineptitude, otherwise another 290 passengers and crew would be dead.

The CLOWN COLLEGE persists in dealing with the international war on terror as though it were some sort of municipal parking problem. There’s a huge credibility gap between what the Obama administration and his National Security Adviser and deputy have been telling us, and what our own good sense and powers of observation are telling us is the truth.

They just don’t get it. They keep underestimating and selling the American people short. They keep getting caught, but they keep going back to that well again and again. Sort of like Obama using George Bush as the ultimate evil facing his Presidency, when the real bogey man is Obama himself.

National Security Adviser General Jim Jones was made to look positively lame by Chris Wallace in a Fox News interview. When defending his deputy John Brennan’s asinine contention that because our American penal system has around a 50% recidivism rate,  a one-out-of-five rate of released or relocated terrorists returning to the battlefield to kill more Americans or innocents is somehow ‘not so bad’. I was all but speechless when I heard him say that. The thought that kept going through my mind was, “what the hell is this guy doing up there?”

Obama’s administration says an awful lot about him unfortunately. The CLOWN COLLEGE would be funny if the stakes were not so high.

"Mad Max" Baucus: Repeat Offender?

The usual trolls didn't think much of my post yesterday about Max Baucus and the "legal briefs" he consults for filling vacant U.S. Attorney posts, but it did remind folks here in CT that this isn't the first time Senator Max Baucus has been accused of trying to dip his pen in the company inkwell.

Pen & Ink Well

You see, a decade or so ago Baucus's chief of staff, former CT congressional candidate Christine Niedermeier, accused the Senator of trying to include a physical relationship as part of her job duties. (mind you, this was right in the middle of  the Senator's now lapsed marriage)

Last week my blood just didn't race in that Paula Jones way when Roll Call ran the story that Montana Senator Max Baucus, 57 and married, had fired his chief of staff, Christine Niedermeier, 47 and not married, under contested circumstances. He said it was because of staff complaints that she was a lousy manager who was causing staff defections. She said (and only reluctantly when she realized there was going to be a story critical of her) that it was because she had asked him to stop making sexual advances

It's also interesting given the recent concern over guest lists at White House state dinners that before the blowup Senator Baucus brought Ms. Niedermeier to such an event as his guest.

Niedermeier did sue Baucus, but the suit was tossed because the deadline for filing such actions against members of Congress had lapsed. (No Lily Ledbetter law for them!). She now runs a solo law practice in a small CT town.  Quite a comedown from being someone who nearly was elected to Congress in 1987.

So, evidently Mel Hanes was an exemplary employee for Senator Baucus who deserves a high powered post at the Department of Justice; and Christine Niedermeier was a shrew who deserved to be kicked to the curb.  The fact one consented to a physical relationship with her employer and the other didn't obviously had nothing to do with the assessment the Senator had about one of his top subordinates.

Excuse me for not buying that one, Max.

There's an old line about one event being an incident, twice is a coincidence, and three times consitutes a lifestyle.

We have two incidents of Senator Baucus either confirming or being accused of having a relationship with a female employee. Can we have any confidence that this is the whole list, or is this going to end up looking like the Tiger Woods scandal if folks look under enough rocks?     ... , according to Tiger Woods

On that note, anyone really think that someone trying to bed a staffer in 1999 waited almost a decade before trying again?

It might be interesting to see if other former female Baucus staffers have landed plum jobs from his friends in the government and K Street,  dontcha think?  Like I said, this looks like a lifestyle for "Mad Max".

Over a decade ago, Republican Senator Bob Packwood was run out of office for exploiting his job so he could exploit women.   We haven't much progress in improving the ethical standards of the Senate if people are now speculating that the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee is up to the same monkey business.

One other thing. How many other Senate mistresses have the Obama Administration put on the public payroll? "Most ethical ever". Please!

Honoring KSM

By  Lance Thompson

The Obama administration’s decision to try Kalid Sheik Mohammed (KSM) in a civilian court rather than before a military tribunal left many Americans mystified.  Since Attorney General Eric Holder’s old law firm defends terrorists held in Gitmo (and did so while he was a senior partner there), we can assume that a Justice Department under his control will not successfully or even vigorously prosecute this confessed mastermind of the September 11th attacks.  Much time and money will be wasted in parading KSM through the legal process.  There is, however, a way to serve justice swiftly and, one might even say, diplomatically.

It is well known that KSM revealed vital information about the al Qaeda organization that enabled Americans to interdict terrorist attacks against our country.  This information was obtained with the help of interrogation methods that included waterboarding.  These methods, many believe, are the real target of the Obama administration in this trial, since KSM has already confessed to his integral role in the 9/11 attacks.  In a civilian court, the methods of interrogation are as much on trail as the defendant, especially when the defendant’s prosecutors are sympathetic to and indistinguishable from the defendant’s defenders. If Obama and Holder’s Justice Department do not really wish to prosecute KSM, and the defendant’s release is expected if not desired, then let’s not waste time with a civilian court or a military tribunal. Instead of dragging KSM to New York for a months-long terrorist trial circus, let President Obama simply pardon him.  And not in a quiet, weekend ceremony in the middle of the night, as Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid handle controversial votes on health care.  Arrange a reception in the White House Rose Garden, with a band, supportive members of the media, and a 70-virgin choir vocalizing Islamic chants. Let Obama present KSM with some sort of award (too bad the Nobel Peace Prize is already taken for the year) recognizing his service to America.  A cash stipend might not be out of order either–a million or two would hardly be missed in the federal spending spree currently underway.  Obama could even claim that Paid Islamic Informant is one of the 60,000 phantom jobs created or saved by the stimulus bill. Such accolades may seem excessive to those of us who view KSM as a confessed enemy of our nation and murderer of our countrymen.  But consider how he will be received by his fellow terrorists once he is publicly congratulated and rewarded for the information he provided to the Great Satan.  Who knows how many Predator missile strikes, covert assaults, and dead terrorists resulted from information KSM provided to his interrogators?  He can hardly claim a hero’s welcome after ratting out his fellow rats. Thus, I think al Qaeda will mete out the proper punishment to this blabbermouth with much less of the delay, hand-wringing and endless appeal that a US civil court trial would guarantee.  If we’re lucky, maybe al Jazeera or some enterprising Islamist youtuber will post a grainy video of KSM losing his head at the hands of some sword-wielding fanatic.  This is the best way to punish KSM.  But the real target of this trial is not the entity identified by those three initials.  The real targets are the entities identified by the initials FBI, CIA, and USA.  Those are the enemies of the Obama administration.  But in three years, we’ll have a chance to vote for president again.  Then we can get rid of the ultimate three-letter enemy: BHO.

Attorney General Eric Holder is wrong - again

Earlier this year,  U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder refused to prosecute members of the Black Panthers who dressed in paramilitary garb outside a Philadelphia polling place last November. The men were brandishing night sticks, pointing them at people, and making racial threats. In the first week of January, the Justice Department filed a civil lawsuit against the New Black Panther Party and three of its members, saying they violated the 1965 Voting Rights Act by scaring voters with the weapon, uniforms and racial slurs. In May, Holder's Justice Department, against the advice of it's own attorneys, dropped the lawsuit, even though the defendants made no response, meaning Justice would have won by default.

Then, on February 17, 2009,  Mr. Holder enlightened us regarding his opinion of the racial progress we have failed to make as a nation. “Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial, we have always been, and we, I believe, continue to be, in too many ways, a nation of cowards,” Holder said in remarks to his staff in honor of Black History Month. His comments appear on a transcript provided by the Justice Department.

Earlier in his career,  Holder played a critical role in the pardon of Marc Rich under former President Clinton. Rich was a commodities trader who was indicted in 1983 on 65 counts of tax evasion and other crimes. He fled to Switzerland prior to being prosecuted where he avoided extradition. He eventually arranged to be represented by Jack Quinn, formerly a Clinton White House counsel. Quinn went straight to Holder, then Clinton's deputy attorney general. According to Richard Cohen of the Washington Post, "Holder was not just an integral part of the pardon process, he provided the White House with cover by offering his go-ahead recommendation. No alarm seemed to sound for him. Not only had strings been pulled, but it was rare to pardon a fugitive -- someone who had avoided possible conviction by avoiding the inconvenience of a trial."

Now, Mr. Holder has indicated he plans to investigate members of the Central Intelligence Agency regarding coercive interrogation techniques, namely water-boarding, against terror suspects. At the end of August, he announced his plan to appoint a special prosecutor to conduct the investigations, over the public protests of Leon Panetta, Obama's head of the C.I.A. In fact, President Obama himself has said his desire was not to look back but to move forward. The fact that crucial information was obtained, preventing American deaths and aiding in thedefeat of Al-Queda, seems to have become irrelevant. Besides, this investigation has already been done once by the Justice Department, and with one exception, there was nothing to prosecute.

So, our U.S. Attorney General refuses to prosecute clear and obvious voter intimidation, even when the case is pre-won. He apparently has no issue with tax evasion and fugitives from justice, and believes we are a nation of cowards, racially speaking. But he is eager to investigate the American patriots who obtained critical information from terrorists who want nothing more than to kill Americans and to destroy our way of  life. How does this make us safer? How does this further the pursuit of justice?

Is there anybody in this administration that doesn't think Americans are the bad guys?

How's that hope and change working out for you?

Prosecutorial Misconduct

The Judge

By Lance Thompson

The Obama administration announced that Attorney General Eric Holder will assign a special prosecutor to take the first step in bringing to trial CIA operatives who used extreme measures to interrogate terrorists. These extreme measures did not include torture, but merely threats and coercion which caused those interrogated to reveal details of planned terrorist attacks, and further permitted the United States to prevent them.

The Jury

Others have persuasively argued that prosecuting those who defend our country encourages our enemies, discourages our own people, and makes our allies wonder why they’re on our side at all. However, under the present administration, anyone who takes an oath to defend our nation should be ready to be prosecuted for doing his or her duty, and crucified for going above and beyond the call.

The Executioner

The Obama administration prefers that its Justice Department dismiss criminal cases against its friends. This happened last week in the dismissed case of Democrat New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson’s shady deals with campaign contributors, and last month with the dismissed case of Democrat Senator Chris Dodd’s questionable favors bestowed by Countrywide Mortgage. Instead, Attorney General Eric Holder’s wrath is directed at Americans serving on the front line against terror. Further, there seems to be no statute of limitations on such vital practices as interrogating, interdicting, hunting and killing our nation’s enemies. So here is a list of some additional targets for Obama DOJ investigations:

Navy Captain Stephen Decatur, who in February, 1804, sailed his schooner Enterprise under the hostile guns of Tripoli harbor and in a daring raid destroyed the captured American frigate Philadelphia, denying the valuable ship to the terrorist Tripolitanian enemy.

Colonel William Travis and the defenders ofthe Alamo, who in February, 1836, obliged Mexican General Santa Ana and his army to find out what Texans are made of.

Marine Captain Lloyd Williams of the 5th Marine Regiment who, prior to the valorous stand of soldiers and Marines at Belleau Wood in June, 1918, responded to a French officer’s suggestion to withdraw from the exposed position, “Retreat, hell–we just got here!”

Or the civilian passengers of United Flight 93, who on September 11th, 2001, met the greatest terrorist attack on our nation with courage, resolve, and selfless sacrifice so that others might live.

Admittedly, these Americans are all beyond the pitiful jurisdiction of Eric Holder. Their cases have, in fact, already come before the Highest Power. (No, that is not a reference to Rahm Emmanuel.) But it is certain that before the Ultimate Judge, these heroes were not only acquitted, but honored, feted, and invited to sit on the side of the angels, which is certainly where they belong.

And they’ll be saving a place for those CIA operatives now threatened by the earthly courts of lesser men.

The Good, the Bad and the Stupid

Good Bad Stupid

by  Rose Pedenko and Tanya Simon

The words “subversive” and “subversion” once were used only to describe enemy combatants at the time of military conflict.  Today those same words have been labeled inflammatory – not behind an iron curtain but right here in the United States of America.

In the third month of the year 2009 A.D., the time has finally come to call a spade a spade.  For those on the left who inflame discourse by automatically reading malevolent racist meanings into that phrase, STOP NOW!  America-loving Americans have finally been pushed over the edge, and frankly no longer care anymore what you – the ultra-liberals and the two-timing RINOs amongst you -- consider is bigoted.  Are you listening, Eric Holder?

You have pushed us over the edge … by political correctness (which, in and of itself, is an insult to the American free spirit), by taxation and more taxation to come, and by our Constitutional rights and freedoms being mangled and distorted in order to fit the liberal agenda.

The “Sleeping Giant” awoke when Pearl Harbor was bombed -- and again after our country was attacked on September 11, 2001.  The same giant, this time in the form of conservatives and clear-thinking Democrats, is rising up to confront and revolt against the subversions of our federal government.

For clarification, when we say “clear-thinking Democrats” we do not include the ultra-liberal waterbearers who soaked Barack Hussein Obama with unadulterated praise and elected him on their tidal wave of adulation.  We’re talking about American citizens who joined the Democratic Party believing it would make a difference in creating a better, safer, stronger U.S.A., but discovered they’ve been shanghaied to pre-Stalinist Russia.

Book after best-selling book (albeit by conservative authors) have been clarifying with facts and figures (Kryptonite to the left) what has been unraveling in this country.  We have the Right (the “Good”) stripping away the camouflage of the Left (the “Bad”), and endeavoring to educate the “Stupid” – a feat now thankfully hampered by the self-inflicted collapse of the once great metropolitan dailies, and the sinking ratings of liberal cable news networks.

And in case you weren’t listening, fiscal conservatives were not happy with President Bush either.  He lost his base of support because of his unchecked Democratic-like spending.  We did indeed need change, but not in the present form of throwing good money after bad. One need only look to the engagement of the Cloward-Piven Strategy (manufactured by the left), to clearly understand what has occurred in the United States over the last 43 years:  Leftist academics have dealt irreparable societal damage.

Adding insult to injury is the fact these academics continue to poison the knowledge wells from which we drink – and they’re being paid to do it, courtesy of the American taxpayer.

Explaining how we got here (even with hard facts and indisputable figures) is never enough for the left.  They don’t get the truth from the prolific liars in the mainstream media and refuse to entertain exceptions to their point of view.  Those that actually take the time to read conservative articles do so by inhabiting right-wing blogs like resident cockroaches, commenting with wild abandon from sheer ignorance.  Put simply, those who can, write – and those who can’t, rant.

There have been the decades of liberal out-on-the-street and in-your-face protests, which are as common and tiresome as illegal immigrants banging on our cars demanding work when we drive onto a Home Depot parking lot.  The reason you don’t see loud and obnoxious conservative activists in melees with police or who are being thrown out of congressional meetings is they don’t exist.  Okay, okay, we concede there are a few, like the wing-nut extremists who protest in front of abortion clinics.  Shameful! How dare anyone fight for the life of an unborn human being!

Republicans and conservative-minded Democrats are busy working at our jobs, providing for our families and our communities.  We’re building companies that employ people, and we pay the bulk of this country’s taxes and we mind our own business. But those days may be over, because revolution is in the air, and don’t you just love the smell of “rebellion” in the morning?

We are being forced to rebel because Obama has fogged up his followers’ senses – with endless campaign rhetoric, and it has now seeped into the fabric of this country like radioactive waste leeching into our drinking wells.  The White House and the U.S. Congress have become hangouts for the ham-fisted and the desperate, where they’re all banging into each other like billiard balls on an uneven surface. And this administration’s pathological hunger for absolute power only serves to repudiate Obama’s hollow promises of hope and change.

Neither Obama nor the Democrat-controlled Congress has even once mentioned the phrases “family unity” or “American honor.”  By ignoring the nucleus conventions on which our country was built, they have proven that none of them possesses any sense of responsibility for the offices they hold.

Obama thinks he has things under control (the way Neville Chamberlain thought he had Hitler under control).  He gave back to England the bust of Winston Churchill (which had been given to the White House as a gesture of solidarity after 9/11) and in so doing, revealed an arrogance that threatens to cut all ties with one of our most trusted allies in favor of dialogue with the enemy.

Americans of every stripe are saying “Enough is enough,” and we will rise up, including all of you who voted that Democrat to the presidency.  It will happen, and it will be launched on the words of Patrick Henry’s American Revolution fervor of “Give me liberty or give me death.”

The Enemy's Agenda

The Democrat Hydra

by  Lance Thompson

This nation has enemies of all kinds.  But imagine a generic enemy of the United States–any state, agency, organization or individual who would benefit from this country’s failure.  Then imagine what such an enemy would want for the United States.

The enemy would want our borders to be porous so that illegal entry into this country would be comparatively easy.  Further, the enemy would want the consequent flood of illegal aliens to drain our welfare, education and health systems; increase crime rates, clog the justice system and fill our prisons to overflowing; and to create a separate nation within our nation that has its own language, customs and identity separate from that of American citizens. Finally, he would want this illegal group to gain the rights of citizens and cast their votes against the legitimate interests of this country.

The enemy would want to subvert the very democracy that our nation is the symbol and champion of.  He would hope that our electoral process could be invalidated by disenfranchisement, fraud and corruption.  He would hope that Americans would lose faith in the democratic system, and, in the face of the repeated thwarting of popular will, to cease participation in the franchise entirely.

The enemy would like to see the checks and balances of the American government sabotaged.  He would like to see our Congress crafting laws in secret and concealing their excesses from scrutiny.  He would like to see the president fill his administration with officers tainted by unlawful acts and compromised by unsavory histories.  He would like to see our judicial branch filled with judges who legislate from the bench and who thwart the will of the people with arbitrary decrees.  He would additionally wish that oversight of these branches of government would be reduced or eliminated so their abuses could continue without interference. The enemy would know that this, too, would destroy the faith of Americans in their government and leaders.

The enemy would like to see this nation’s defenses dismantled.  He would like to see more and more laws that protect those who would destroy this country, and greater restrictions on those who defend it.  He would like to see this nation abandon its allies, withdraw from its strategic positions, and unilaterally surrender the initiative in the high ground of space to our foes.

The enemy would like to see the powerful market economy of this nation destroyed.

He would like to see the value of our stocks, retirement accounts and real estate tumble.  He would like our financial institutions to collapse.  He would like the mighty economic engine that is America hobbled by burdensome regulations and taxes, pseudo-scientific environmental restrictions, and adversarial government policy.  He would like to see private industry and public employers consumed by the cancer of ever more powerful unions.  And he would want to so increase the debt of the United States with irresponsible spending, out-of-control entitlements and incomprehensible monetary policy that our country would lose its place as the world’s most economically powerful nation.

All of these conditions are being created by the Democrats in the White House and Congress.  Democrats are the champions of illegal immigration.  Barack Obama’s campaign, as well as that of Al Franken and other Democrats, benefited from the aid of ACORN, a vote-manufacturing community group that was under criminal investigation in five states during the presidential campaign, and is now slated to get a multi-million dollar chunk of the stimulus bill.

The stimulus bill itself was crafted in secret, defended by lies, and rushed through the process without being shown to many Democrats, let alone any Republicans.  As Byron York recently pointed out, it contains provisions for a board that can terminate investigations by inspectors general into the executive branch.  And in almost a trillion dollars of new spending, the only significant cutbacks in the bill were in the areas of defense appropriations.

Liberal judges have released terrorists, murderers and child molesters and reversed the democratic will of the people by striking down initiatives from prohibitions on gay marriage to calls for English only ballots.  The new administration has appointed a terrorist sympathizer as attorney general, sprinkled tax evaders throughout the cabinet, and created the “culture of corruption” which was a phrase the Democrats themselves invented, and have now perfected.  Finally, the financial meltdown was caused by Democrats coercing banks to offer loans to those unable to repay them and Democrats blocking oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Moderates on both sides are eager to grant the opposition the benefit of the doubt, and concede that those across the aisle have the best interests of the country at heart, even if their methods differ.  But when one party’s policies consistently support and achieve the aims of the enemy, then intentions are immaterial.  Only the results matter, and in the issues above, where Democrats have had their way, the results are always detrimental to the interests of the United States.

If we cannot use the term “enemy” for the leaders whose policies serve the needs and interests of the enemy, then perhaps we need a new term.  “Unenlightened co-conspirator” has a nice ring.  “New double-Dealer” has a retro flair.  We could save “disloyal opposition” for a more favorable balance in Congress.

But maybe we already have a term for politicians who abuse our system of government to deceive its citizens, drain its treasury, strip its defenses and undermine its foundations.  It starts with a “D’ and ends in “rat.”

The Loyal Lapdogs

Everytime I think we learned something from Bush's failed second term and McCain's defeat, well this sort of thing happens

For Wicca' sake, could the Republican senators bend over any further?

Now I think it might well be good public policy for the Attorney General to become more distant from the agenda of the President. And Eric Holder says that's his agenda

Holder told lawmakers he did not believe the attorney general's job was to serve as the president's lawyer — a frequent criticism of Alberto Gonzales' tenure under Bush. He also vowed to see how much harm has been done to the department by political scandals.

But this is a guy who had to apologize for his role working for the last Democratic President approving pardons for tax evaders and terrorists?

Two words about this guy's declaration of intent.  Yeah.  Right.

If the Obama team wanted an analogue of the present Attorney General, Michael Mukasey, I would humbly suggest that Connecticut could offer such an individual, Circuit Court Justice Jose Cabranes.   a man of unquestioned integrity and committment to the law. And I'd be part of Cabranes's cheering section.

But no, we get a career Democrat political hack last seen clearing Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich of corruption   and who omitted this little detail on his response to the Obama transition team.

Now I expect Democrats to fall into line behind this sort of compromised candidate. But I hope I will be spared any criticism over my views from residents of South Carolina, who have set the biggest RINO of recent history to graze on the D.C. savannah.

I'm almost ready to vote for you right now," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., after Holder agreed with the senator that the nation is at war with terrorists.

1. Get a room. 2. Get a clue.

In whatever order suits you, Senator Graham

Is Church Arson back?

In the mid to late 1990's the Clinton Adminstration discovered a wave of arson allegedly being directed at the black church in the Deep South.  This issue quickly become an important issue for the Clintons, who made it a point to ensure such crimes were investigated and prosecuted

President Clinton reported Saturday on the progress made by a task force he established last June to investigate a series of arsons against churches, saying the probes have been "remarkably successful."

Indeed, in 1996 a new federal statute was enacted making church arson a federal offense

It appears, that far from the Deep South, we may have a new politically motivated church arson

ANCHORAGE, Alaska-- Gov. Sarah Palin's home church has been badly damaged in a suspicious fire.

Larry Kroon, the pastor of the Wasilla Bible Church, estimates damages at more than $1 million to the church.

Kroon says the fire broke out Friday night while a small group of women were working on crafts, and were alerted to the blaze by a fire alarm.

By the time he got to the church, Kroon said he could see smoke pouring out of the building.

Kroon declined to say if the blaze was politically based or directed at Palin.

Palin spokesman Bill McAllister said the governor stopped by the church Saturday morning and apologized if the incident was related to her.

In a written statement McAllister said Palin, "told an assistant pastor that she apologizes if the incident is in any way connected to the undeserved negative attention the church has received since she became a vice presidential candidate on Aug. 29. Whatever the motives of the arsonist, the governor has faith in the scriptural passage that what was intended for evil will in some way be used for good."

Let's see if the Obama Justice Department makes this act of political terrorism directed at Christians a federal case.  After all, we are all entitled to equal protection under the law.

Aren't we?
