Illegal Immigration

Mexican Wars.

Since we received some queries last week… I’m back! Last week was one of 15 hour days for me. It’s just the nature of the business I’m in. I liked the way Dee answered one comment from an affiliate: “It’s just too hard to put on his writing head after all those hours”. Pretty apt description.

It’s proven really difficult to impress upon the establishment types the dire necessity of tackling the Mexican issue as a matter of party policy. You cannot separate the border issues from the economy… nor can the 20 million plus illegals, feeding like leeches from the veins of American taxpayers, be ignored any longer. The asinine assertion that we can’t remove these law breakers… felons by any American legal definition… is just so much bull bleep.

As has been shown in the past during any period of stringent enforcement, they repatriate themselves. Don’t try to sell us the sob stories either. How would a citizen of the US (or any other country) fare if caught sneaking into Mexico, or anywhere else in Central or South America? They don’t exactly roll out the welcome mat down there.

Witness what’s occurring in Arizona as we speak. Thousands of illegals are leaving under the impetus of the implementation of Arizona’s immigration enforcement initiatives. Unfortunately, they’re heading for States where the goodies are still being ladled out, like California, whose really simple-minded state legislature has just voted to allow in-state tuition for illegals and the children of illegal aliens in the California university system.

The State of California has an unfunded debt liability of over 40 billion dollars. We see the Governor of California lying outright, in order to gain support for his union welfare tax increases.

Illegal aliens cost the state over 10.5 billion dollars annually, and they pay an additional one point four billion dollars every year to incarcerate 20,000 more illegals. The state is broke. It’s a disaster looking for a place to occur. California state lawmakers should be removed for malfeasance in office. It makes one wonder if California voters will ever break the shackles of union/state imperialism. Other states tell a similar story.

It’s imperative, then, that whoever we put forward to carry the Conservative banner has a firm grip on the subject of illegal immigration and the intestinal fortitude to recapture America for Americans.

Casa de Maryland: How to use tax dollars to skirt immigration laws

Tuesday, September 14th is primary day here in Maryland. Campaign signs litter roadways and volunteers greet commuters as they idle at traffic lights in Prince George's County. One hot button issue that should be on the mind of Maryland voters is immigration. As the number of illegal immigrants continue to rise in Maryland and the economy further spirals downward, voters in Maryland face tough decisions.

Adding to the immigration debate is an organization that has caused outrage and controversy over its mission and programs. CASA de Maryland, also know as the Central American Solidarity Association deserves national attention for it's programs that target day laborers in Montgomery County, Maryland.

The Background

From Wikipedia (emphasis mine):

“CASA was founded in 1985 in the basement of the Takoma Park Presbyterian Church by concerned U.S. citizens and Central American immigrants. It has since expanded its scope. It is affiliate organization of the National Council of La Raza. It has received funding from a variety of sources, including a two-year grant funding operations in Baltimore from George Soros' Open Society Institute. CASA of Maryland is also a founding member of the National Capital Immigration Coalition ("NCIC") which promotes "comprehensive immigration reform".[5] Other funding sources include the Annie E. Casey Foundation and United Way. They are a member of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network. CASA also has received $1.5 million from CITGO, the state-owned Venezuelan petroleum products corporation.

CASA operates five day labor centers throughout the state, with public and private funding, three in Montgomery County, where its efforts have been the center of controversy. There is both significant support, and significant opposition, to their efforts to provide central sites where contractors can pick up day-laborers…."

Judicial Watch has documents here on the day labor centers.

To be clear, a Soros, and Chavez funded organization with ties to the radical La Raza receives millions in taxpayer dollars while Maryland faces severe budget shortfalls,

“House Minority Leader Anthony J. O'Donnell, R-Calvert/St. Mary's, offered an amendment Wednesday that would strip $200,000 allocated to Casa de Maryland Inc. from the state's capital budget.

The amendment failed, 47-89.”

A Washington Examiner articles notes that Casa de Maryland recently formed a political organization called Casa in Action and currently receives a significant majority of its funding from the state.

“CASA will receive nearly $2.1 million this fiscal year from local governments, including $1.3 million from Montgomery County, and another $32,000 in federal money, according to Kim Propeack, the group's director of community organizing and political action. CASA in Action has raised $45,000 thus far from members paying $9 annual dues, she added.”

While students languish in underfunded schools that are one step above a daycare or prison, Maryland's Democrat Governor Martin O'Malley partnered with the group to open a multicultural center inside of a restored mansion.

“Governor Martin O'Malley recently joined CASA at the launching of a three-year $30 million campaign to restore the George Oakley Totten, Jr. designed historic Langley Park mansion in Langley Park, Maryland, to be converted into a multicultural center. The center will offer English lessons, legal assistance, job placement”

What other programs have suffered while Casa de Maryland enjoys the seemingly endless largess of state lawmakers? According to the Center for Budget and Policy:

In late 2007 and 2008, some ten states enacted tax increases, closed loopholes, restricted tax credits, or implemented other revenue-raising measures. Major packages were enacted in Maryland, Michigan, and New York.

Other states that have capped or reduced funding for programs that serve people who have disabilities or are elderly include California, the District of Columbia, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia

Maryland cut professional development for principals and educators, as well as health clinics, gifted and talented summer centers, and math and science initiatives.

Some states, such as Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, have implemented cuts to localities, leading to local concerns about reductions in funding for policing, child care assistance, meals for the elderly, hospice care, services for veterans and seniors, and other services.

Other states cutting higher education operating funding and financial aid include Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland..

The Immigration debate

Casa de Maryland discourages local police enforcement of immigration laws and advocates for driver's licenses for illegal aliens – contentious issues in the current political climate. Local point to the fact that crimes in Silver Spring, Maryland and gang activity are on the rise.

Wikipedia notes that tensions ran high in 2006 when “Gustavo Torres, the Executive Director of CASA, remarked to a reporter for the local Gazette newspaper that CASA was determined to track the leadership of a local unit of Minuteman Project, and take the following actions: 'We are going to target the Minutemen in a specific way... we are going picket their houses, and the schools of their kids, and go to their work. If they are going to do this to us, we are going to respond in the same way, to let people know their neighbors are extremists, that they are anti-immigrant.”

The site Help Save Maryland warns citizens that Casa de Maryland encourages illegal immigration and provides links to a case study on the Langley Park mansion project and a disturbing pamphlet that instructs immigrants in what to do in case of immigration raids.

Did tax dollars pay for this document? The Department of Labor's website shows that OSHA gave a grant of $200,000 to Casa de Maryland, and $225,000 to an affiliate group. The money was described as being for:

The grantee will provide training for high-risk Latino workers in the construction, building and grounds maintenance, agricultural, and warehouse industries in Maryland. Training will be offered through local community colleges and employment centers. Training will include a train-the-trainer module. The training and/or materials will be offered in English and Spanish. Click pictures to enlarge.

The Obligatory ACORN Connection

Politics as Usual

Major players behind Casa de Maryland include Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Perez. Perez, a former member of Casa de Maryland's board, worked on O’Malley’s 2006 campaign, Obama's presidential campaign, and was a member of Obama's transition team. Byron York describes Perez's work with the DOJ:

"Of all the transformations that have taken place in the Obama administration, perhaps none is so radical as that within the Civil Rights Division. Under Perez, it is bigger, richer and more aggressive than ever, with a far more expansive view of its authority than at any time in recent history.

Perez is playing a leading role in the Justice Department's lawsuit against Arizona's new immigration law. He is promising a huge increase in prosecution of alleged hate crimes."

Readers may remember that Perez was also actively involved in the dismissal of charges in the DOJ case again the New Black Panther Party and has been accused of lying under oath about the case.

It appears that Casa de Maryland has friends in high places.

As Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley prepares to face off with former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. in the general election, one has to wonder what win for either side would mean for Casa de Maryland. If O'Malley is elected, the group should anticipate more funding but with two of Ehrlich's former staff members on record supporting the group, one has to wonder if this will be yet another case of different party-same political corruption.

McCain – Will They Fall For Him Again?

Arizona has proven itself to be a pretty sane place. I hope that holds true through the primary election for the Senate race between JD Hayworth and John McCain.

I’d like to hope that Arizona would have better sense than to fall for McCain’s chameleon-like transformation into a closed borders, anti-illegal alien guy. Or, that along with people like the ever-detestable Lindsey Graham, he was perfectly willing to sell the American people down the road with his carbon tax scheme.

It cost twenty million dollars of McCain money to get the Senator this far. He did his best to destroy JD Hayworth with Arizona voters. What was disappointing was the support that McCain got from the Old Guard Republican Party back in the beltway. They were the same ones who backed McCain for President. McCain could prove to be a very negative factor in the US Senate. He simply cannot be trusted not to immediately revert to type once re-elected. Millions of Patriots have made it abundantly clear that we do not want business as usual from our elected representatives.

Political prognosticators from both ends of the spectrum are calling for what may be a political repudiation of historical proportions, with estimates north of fifty seats that could be lost by the DeMarxists in November. Further, there are some who are now openly speculating on the real possibility that the Senate could be lost to the Conservative Republican revolution as well.

McCain just cannot be trusted. He’s proven too many times that he’s willing to throw party and principles away. From the Gang of Fourteen to his willingness to sell us out on immigration… proof that he cannot be trusted is out there in abundance.

If you live in Arizona, please get to the polls and vote today. Gather your friends and family and get them to the polls.

Arizona Law Gains Favor.

It looks like Arizona has a lot of serious company out there just now. No fewer than twenty two states are in the process of drafting, or seeking to pass, legislation such as was passed by Arizona. Others are looking at the Arizona law with renewed interest.

Representative Debbie Riddle of Texas aims to pass a new immigration law in January.

The cash strapped municipalities, counties and states can ill afford the lavish largesse, once routinely offered to illegals by liberal governments. The gravy train is petering out for one reason… there is no money. Federal programs and make-work grants are fizzling out.

The stimulus simply didn’t work. That money is running out. The sectors favored most by the infusion of these federal dollars are of course the people to whom Obama and his DeMarxist Congress were most beholden… the public sector unions, the SEIU, the teachers’ unions. So far, they’ve largely avoided the brutal layoff / no job nightmare the rest of us have been living with, only because of repeated bail outs.

It will be increasingly difficult to keep these jobs off the chopping block as further bailouts seem unlikely, given the proximity of the elections and the mood in the country about any further deficit spending. Once the public sector starts to feel the bite, more dissatisfaction will be directed towards Obama and his government.

These twenty two states are legislating in the face of the government’s lawsuit which challenges the legality of Arizona’s ‘tough’ illegal immigration law, which is nothing more than federal law enforced. I think more states will start looking really hard at enacting similar laws, as they have to face how much catering to illegals is really costing them.

Encourage your lawmakers to consider Arizona-style legislation. If we dry up the goodies we won’t have to deport them, because they’ll go back where they came from if there’s no work or welfare to attract and hold them.

Meg Whitman: The Next Arnold In Waiting.

Meg Whitman was on America’s Morning News today. After listening to her talk, I had the distinct impression that what we’re getting is another big government liberal. When queried about the illegal alien subject she danced all over the issue, saying that “Arizona’s anti-illegal alien law was not for California”. It made me wonder if she had ever read California’s statutes, like 634-b of the criminal code. Maybe someone should tell her that we have had the same laws on our books for decades.

Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown

Successive liberal state governments (like Jerry ‘Moonbeam’ Brown’s) have tied law enforcements’ hands, preventing them from arresting illegals for anything except violent crime, and turning them over to ICE agents and deporting them. These laws have been in existence for thirty years or more.

Whitman then moved on to say that she would ‘seal’ the border. Um, has anybody bothered to tell Megs that the Feds control the border? Sounds just like an Arizona problem doesn’t it? Maybe Whitman should talk to some of the ranchers in the Jacumba, Davies Station or Campo Station areas of the state she wishes to govern, who have to go around armed and in fear for their families.

She further said she would ensure that employers were severely punished for hiring illegal aliens and see to it that so-called ‘sanctuary cities’ would be punished and prevented from sheltering illegal aliens, such as the convicted felon who slaughtered Tony Bologna and two of his sons in that great outdoor sewer and illegal alien paradise, San Francisco.

Sounds pretty good in a general way, doesn’t it? Until you find out that she is broadcasting the diametric opposite message in Spanish on Latino language radio stations and on at least one billboard, which had been spotted and reported by a Tea Party patriot, saying “No on 187 and No on the Arizona immigration law“. In Spanish that would be called “hablar dando una de cal y otra de arena”. Speaking from both sides of your mouth.

Not that I think ‘Moonbeam’ is any bargain either. He made a hash of state government as Governor once before and then for an encore, as Mayor, turned Oakland into a veritable shooting gallery. Abel Maldinado is out of the question as well… he’s not even a good crook… just a stupid ego-maniacal one. That leaves us with Meg, who thought that Van Jones (Oakland communist agitator) was the greatest thing since cream cheese. Not a great selection for Californians.

But, we cannot afford to stay home. If anything, we have to support Whitman as the best of several bad choices and then try and pressure her to do the right thing. Sounds like a familiar scenario for Californians, doesn’t it? We booted Gray Davis to get Arnold, and we’re getting rid of him for…?

Barack Obama’s Mason-Dixon Line.

The Mason-Dixon Line was the resolution of a border dispute between the then British colonies of Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and West Virginia. It was named after the surveyors who undertook the task between 1763 and 1767, Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon. The Mason-Dixon line was some 233 miles in length. It later became the demarcation between the ‘Yankee North’ and the South ‘Dixie’.

This 1861 map shows the position of the Mason-Dixon line.

Later on, it became known as the line between the ‘free’ North and the slave South, in particular between Pennsylvania and Maryland. During the 1800s, and particularly during the Civil War, it became the infamous Mason-Dixon line, marking the separation line between the Federal Unionist north and the Confederate south. There are no boundaries separating North and South any longer. There is a definite border between the United States of America and Mexico.

Our government, under Barack Hussein Obama, chooses to act as though we have no border, and in point of fact encourages the flood of illegals coming through. His Director of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, makes absolutely asinine statements such as, ‘The Border Patrol is better staffed now than at any time in its history’. Such statements fool no one. I’ve detailed in this column over the last eighteen months how Barack Obama has systematically stripped the southern border of over four hundred Border Patrol officers.

Our international border has become a war zone for the southern border states. California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas are the fronts in this war, with heavily-armed drug gangs coming and going at will, with Border Patrol officers being outgunned, shot at and assaulted at an ever increasing pace, with American citizens being ravaged and murdered on their own property, with millions of illegal aliens sapping the lifeblood of this country and its legitimate citizens. This government has much to answer for.

In self defense, one state has stood against the federal behemoth. Arizona has passed a law reinforcing existent federal laws already on the books, which successive administrations have failed to do. Now, the DeMarxist administration of Barack Obama is attacking Arizona for defending its clearly defined state’s right, claiming it to be unconstitutional. What is unconstitutional is the entire regime behind that suit.

Arizona is no longer alone in her stand against Eric Holder and the MaoBama White House. So far, nine other states have come out in support of Arizona and are actively seeking to enact laws of their own… Michigan, Alabama, Florida, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Virginia… in addition to the Northern Mariana Islands. Looks like the Marianas take their borders seriously anyway. By the way, California, in all its hallucinatory arrogance, has the exact same laws already on the books that Arizona passed.

Obama has his own new Mason-Dixon Line. This time, there is no Confederacy. This time, it’s American citizens standing up to a tyrannical regime. Time is running out for the DeMarxists, and that makes them more dangerous than ever. There is a chilling article on RedState by Gary Bentley, entitled “Revolution Or Civil War, It’s Your Choice”.

It’s a nightmare scenario, like something out of a mystery thriller, though there’s not a damn thing funny about where this whole thing could go if we don’t get a real handle on it this November.

By The Way, While You Weren’t Looking…

The nation is spellbound, as it watches the monumental struggle between puny mankind and elemental natural forces at 5,000 feet beneath the ocean. This is an environmental disaster of the first rank and no one will argue that, but while you, as concerned citizens, are focused on the Gulf coast, guess what your US Senate was doing?

Reid and Schumer

They’re scheming to steal your liberties and give them to illegal aliens. Charles (Chuck) Schumer and Majority Leader Harry Reid on the Senate side and Luis Gutierrez, (D) Ill. and Solomon Ortiz, (D) Texas for the House side. The two proposed bills graphically illustrate just exactly what the leftists are really all about. For elected representatives to embrace and foster this decidedly self-serving and onerous legislation is, in my opinion, tantamount to a direct assault and contravention of our Constitution. These people should be investigated, as well as their ties to leftist illegal alien supporters and those who thrive from the illegal alien trade.

This legislation is rife with such cute alien incentives such as free automatic social security. Hey, gee whiz citizens, where’s our free anything? Silly me, it takes mucho dinero to keep those aliens here, in our schools, in our hospitals and last, but certainly not least, in our jails and prisons.

There’s an article I’d recommend you read on ‘Right Wing News’ entitled ‘22 Problems With The Senate’s Illegal Immigration Bill‘. This article, by John Hawkins, lays it out pretty well and makes me wonder why these perennial sellout politicians haven’t been called for treason against the country and the constitution.

If there are any Republicans that support this amnesty we must drive them from office. We can no longer afford ‘Republicans In Name Only’. Now, perhaps, we should add ‘CINO’ – Conservatives In Name Only, since conservatism seems to be the party banner.

It’s time to start lighting up the phone lines again, not that you’ve ever stopped, but we’ll have to really hammer them to get their attention. Don’t ever let them distract you from the goal of chasing these Marxists out of government and keeping it that way.

It's All About the Oil - Obama Chooses the Crisis of Greater National Significance

Crossposted at David Horowitz's NewsRealBlog.

Waiting for the Right Wave to Ride

Though we're not part of his inner circle or privy to his counsel, we can still determine President Obama's political will based on the political waves he chooses to ride.

Last week, as he demonized Arizona legislators attempting to enforce federal immigration laws, America discovered that crude, not criminality, poses greater "national significance" for Obama's Administration.

His public announcement more than a week after the BP rig explosion to "determine" the cause of the disaster – though already deemed an accident by his own Press Secretary– was an effort to reframe his Katrina-style dithering to the new narrative appearing April 30th on the official Deepwater Horizon website:

"The federal government has been fully engaged in the response since the incident occurred April 20."

Sending in swat teams and cadres of lawyers doesn't fulfill the Coastal State Commitment Obama made during his campaign "that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur."

Though having commandeered every crisis of the past 14 months, dismissing criticism he could "only handle one challenge at a time," Obama still side-stepped Deep Horizon, though his administration immediately knew the breadth and scope of the massive oil spill.

Late last week, while officials clamoured to wait on President Obamato activate up to 6,000 National Guardmembers, Louisiana Governor Jindal appealed to Secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security April 29th, the same day the oil spill was projected to reach the Louisiana shore.

By late evening April 30th, when Obama finally approved the mobilization of the Guard, the timeliness of his response to this crisis of "national significance"couldn't match the quick and decivise "troop surge" with which he responded to Haiti.

Recording their first oiled bird isn't handling Deep Horizon, nor is forgetting to mention the oil spill in his weekly address

These measured responses demonstrate Obama's political will, as he has chosen to label Deep Horizon an event of “national significance”over America's immigration crisis.

Preoccupied by the coastal border, Obama is said to have dropped his pursuit of illegal immigration reform, citing Democrats' "lack of 'appetite' to take on immigration while many of them are up for re-election."' This delay is yet another measured tactic Obama has chosen over the lives and security of countless Americans, an immigration "carrot" to secure votes through the 2010 and 2012 elections.

In choosing crude over criminality, Obama trivializes the 2,158 murders of the last 14 months and  other serious crimes committed by illegal aliens, and the 7,000 drug war-related deaths in Mexico. We have a war occurring along our souther border that rivals the Afghanistan conflicts, where we had 926 deaths in 2009. Under his watch, Arizona's capital city of Phoenix has been labeled Kidnapping Capital of the USA for over a year now, rivaling Mexico City for the world title.

American lives are in danger on the Homeland, a fact that even the media recognizes.

Will President Obama address the crime wave spilling over America's southern border?

Let's Get Serious About Immigration, Conservatives

Immigration is a difficult issue for conservatives these days. It is fraught with emotions and passionate feelings. Worse, whenever someone tries to discuss the issue dispassionately, the old canard of "no true Scotsman" is employed against them. But conservatives need to continue to have this discussion and get their ducks in a row on the issue because the other side has a successful call to arms that we need to prove wrong. It is too easy for the left to claim that it has "compassion" for immigrants and we don't. We need to pull the debate away from faux "compassion" and toward the facts.

On the right we have at least two main ideas about immigration. Some want open borders and easy employment for illegals so that business has a quick and constant source of cheap labor. These business-oriented conservatives (some might call them country club Republicans) are less interested in social issues and more interested in money and economic growth. Opposing the open borders folks are those that might be called nativists, those that feel America should not have a wide open border and that America is for Americans.

The problem we have here is that there is no reason why conservatives cannot be both a nativist and an economic expansionist that wants to employ some foreign-born workers where they are needed. There is no reason why we can't be both strong border advocates and interested in making new Americans from immigrants. Our two sides do not necessarily have to be as diametrically opposed as they seem to be.

Of course, the passion erupts when we try to reconcile these two positions. The closed borders folks all too often employ a sort of "no true Scotsman" theory against anyone that wants to make some sense of this situation. If you seem to waver from their view you aren't a "real" conservative to too many of them. But nativists aren't the only ones to blame as the open borders crowd dismisses everyone on the other side as yahoos and hatemongers when the truth is that Nativists only want to follow the Constitution and protect American culture. We need to get past the name calling and remember that we need to be on the same page of this matter or the left will win making things unsuitable for all of us on the right.

Some of the open borders crowd have come to realize that open borders are no longer a good idea. Not long ago, for instance, I spoke to Richard Nadler, president of Americas Majority Foundation, and he realized that after 9/11 open borders was suicide. Nadler's group is a conservative pro immigrant-labor organization that specializes in minority outreach. Nadler feels that to be seen as the anti-Hispanic party will destroy the GOPs electoral future. He makes a good argument in many ways.

To my personal experience, I have seen many sons and daughters of immigrants -- both legal and illegal -- and these kids don't want to be Mexicans, or Guatemalans, or what have you. They might not mind visiting the country of their parent's birth but they generally would rather stay here and they think of themselves as Americans. But I will have to agree with Nadler that if these young people grow up thinking that the GOP is filled with people that hate them, then these new voters will reflexively vote Democrat in huge numbers. I believe Nadler is right that we could be committing electoral suicide if we allow this perception to grow.

But this need to seem more friendly to Americans of Hispanic origin does not mean we have to throw away American principles, our culture or our laws. Nor do we need to open the border wide and let just anyone come here. We have every right to try to put breakers on the flow of foreign immigrants and a responsibility to think of America first.

Now, many thousands of illegal immigrants have returned home over the last two years. This is because the economy is such that the easy jobs these people filled have dried up. But at some point our economy will pick up again and the influx of illegals will resume to fill the jobs a stronger economy creates. We need to try and solve this problem now, before our economy picks up and the influx resumes. So, at some point the left is right that now is an ideal time for comprehensive immigration reform. But let it be on our terms, not the lefts.

Here are some of the points we must consider:

  • Tougher border security measures
  • A logical path to citizenship for those here
  • A robust guest worker program
  • Broader enforcement of the laws already on the books
  • Implementation of the e-verify system to determine whether a worker is a legal resident
  • An end to welfare and free in-state tuition to illegals
  • An end to automatic citizenship to babies of foreigners

Am I suggesting total amnesty? Certainly not. But this problem is bigger than just imagining it is possible to deport millions of people all at once. We are past the time when we can stick our fingers in our ears and yell “la,la,la” in hopes that the problem will go away. Our past politicians have failed us on this issue. It is up to us to fix it.

There is one final area that impinges on immigration that must be considered here: education.

Currently our educational system coddles illegals by teaching kids in Spanish only classes. Our schools also fail our society by downplaying American principles and eschewing American exceptionalism. We must return American principles to our schools. After all, if kids are taught that America is a bad place, why should they grow up to want to protect our American heritage? This is no less true for the child of a natural born citizens than that of a foreign born immigrant. Further, how do we expect the kids of immigrants to grow up to want to be acculturated to American ideals if we tell them that America is a bad place? An important place to make American citizens is in school. As conservatives we need to take back our schools from the extreme left that now runs them.

House Committee: Universal Health Care for illegal aliens

The Blue Dogs are lapdogs. When they had the chance to do the right thing, they simply became towel boys again for Henry Waxman

This amendment was considered as part of the Obamacare bill

Notwithstanding any other provision of law,

no unauthorized aliens shall be eligible for any item

or service furnished under this title.

It was rejected by ONE vote. Looks like an awful lot of Blue Dogs must've got castrated. Let's see how the folks in Bart Gordon's district, Zack Space's district and Bart Stupak's district like these apples Oh and Virginia's Rick Boucher was absent. Maybe the voters of VA 9 can make that a permanent situation in 2010.
