incumbents

Sunday Lunch.

Has Skip’s editor decided to take a break from politics by publishing recipes? Or maybe it’s the announcement of a new weekend magazine program? No, we couldn’t compete with the excellent Chris Wallace and FNS.

Last Sunday, I thought I’d partake of some lunch in the staff restaurant. I’m not a huge fan of British-style cooking. As Michael Savage exclaimed, when he discovered his inclusion on the ‘banned from Britain’ list, “Darn! And I was just planning a trip to England for their superior dental work and cuisine.” I know the feeling, Mike. Unless you have a preference for large quantities of pastry and batter, or large liver-based meatballs, the name of which I can’t reveal here without alienating a large percentage of San Francisco residents, there isn’t much going for it.

You can always play safe and request a burger, which often results in the query “Would you like it in a bun?” Uh, yeah. I’d like bread on my sandwich, too. Anyway, Kath Toms does a mean Sunday roast, so, as a change from my usual diet of Tex-Mex and Italian, I thought I’d indulge.

There have been many tales throughout history of people ‘seeing’ things in the most unlikely places… Holy apparitions on a slice of toast, for example. When I looked at the contents of my plate, I could see much of the recent history of the 111th Congress.

There was the pork. We have had plenty of that. Stimulus packages crammed full of the stuff. When questioned hard enough about it, they’d trim off some of the rind in a feeble attempt to make it more palatable. I guess you could call it ‘cured pork’.

The stuffing was the bulk of the 2,600 page health care bill, which, by their own admission, the perpetrators had not even bothered to read.

I was surprised to find that Brussels sprouts are still on the menu. With the amount of digestive methane production that these little green legumes are responsible for, it’s surprising that they have not been outlawed by the enviro-nazis. They will probably soon be the victims of the preferred liberal tactic of ‘education’ (see video). Be prepared for your little ones to severely reprimand you for serving them as part of a meal (“My teacher says all the polar bears will die if we all eat Brussels sprouts”). I guess we could circumvent it by purchasing some carbon tax credits!

None of this would be complete without the roast potatoes, which is precisely what the incumbent Democrats will be this November 2. We have to turn up the heat on them. They are resorting to the most desperate of measures to save their skins now, with unfounded, unscrupulous attacks on Republican candidates.

We can not allow people who accept lies as an acceptable part of government to control the country. They have had their meal, now let’s give them their just desserts!

The Show Me State Shows Obamacare The Gate; Won’t Be The Last.

It’s not going to take very long either. With the mood in the country going from angry to ugly, other states are considering similar laws of their own, given the resentment that was pretty much universally present when Harry, Nancy and Obama pushed an illegitimate, vast and ill-considered morass of close to 3,000 pages of absolute political psycho-babble through, against the specific wishes of the vast majority of the American people. All the king’s horses and all the king’s spin couldn’t cram that genie back in the bottle.

Senator Jane Cunningham and supporters watch the results in Missouri.

The American people, constantly reminded by the National Patriot movement, haven’t gone back into their between-elections somnambulism. They are remembering… and remembering every cheap and unconstitutional stunt the Demarxist Clown College has perpetrated. Putting it mildly, they are peed. No amount of Bush-hating vituperation will buy the MaoBama Demarxists out of this one.

The lies and spin are falling flat, and the Missouri Law passed by the astounding rate of 70%. Arizona, Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Ohio and Oklahoma, to mention a few, but altogether there are twenty nine states contemplating similar laws. Perhaps, someday, when the history of the new American revolution is written, they will say that Arizona and Missouri fired the first shots across Obama’s bow.

Another Democrat incumbent went down in flames again today as Democrat Representative Carolyn Kilpatrick of Michigan was soundly defeated in the Democrat primary. Yes, the country is in a very anti-incumbent mood.

Primaries Loom Large.

Ten states hold primary elections today, in addition to the runoff in Arkansas and a Republican Congressional special in Georgia. DeMarxists in Congress are by no means eager to press for Obama’s agenda. A lot of these folks must know by now that they are toast. Voters are in a mood to punish incumbents who they see as betraying the people’s trust by voting in favor of the health care legislation.

Blanche Lincoln campaigning in her home town.

Blanche Lincoln comes to mind. She’d been playing both ends of the deck for so long that when the health care vote came up she was so far out of touch with her constituency that she didn’t recognize that fully 70% of the people of Arkansas were dead set against the Obama stealth care fraud. If Lincoln did realize that the issue was that volcanic and voted for it anyway, she should be removed from office for being as dumb as a box of rocks, which is just exactly what is going to happen today.

Across the country, from coast to coast, this preliminary to the main event in November has both parties watching very carefully, even as the various candidates campaign down to the wire for today’s elections. Conservative Republicans are running strongly across the country. The influence of the Conservative Patriot movements and the Tea Partiers cannot be underestimated here, as the establishment Republicans discovered to their dismay and embarrassment that instead of ‘instilling’ party discipline on those unsophisticated rubes, they were not only ignored but they were pulled ignominiously along behind Americans that were sick to death of government business-as-usual, regardless of what side of the aisle it came from.

All indications are that Democrat incumbents will take a bath today. I sincerely hope so. It’ll be just that many fewer we have to beat in November. The message is clear. America has just about had it with Obama’s vision for America.

Is It Already Congress for Life?

(update July 2008)   IS IT ALREADY 'CONGRESS FOR LIFE' ?

Data constructed from the booklet “Congress At Your Fingertips” published by capitoladvantage.com

IN SUMMARY: 110th Congress

Senate: As of 2008, 100 Senators, 17 have been in office for 30 years or more , and 22 more have been there for 18 to 30 years. (total 39%, 18 yrs or more, 4 over 40 years) 110th Senate List

House: As of 2008, 435 Representatives, 35 have been in office for 26 years or more , and 108 more have been there for 14 to 24 years. (total 33% 14 yrs or more, 5 over 36 years)110th House List

Consider this: The longer these guys are in office, the more of them will run unopposed for reelection, since nobody will bother to challenge them. Unopposed races have doubled in the last 20 years, from 40% to 80%. See attached chart.

In other words, it appears that already, election to Congress will be as good as getting elected for life! Soon, there will be no point in having elections for Congress unless an incumbent dies or goes to jail.

This is NOT what the Founders intended! And it is certainly not what clear-thinking Americans are willing to accept! You can help to avoid this imminent dictatorship of the Congress by joining one or more of the following organizations to help put pressure on Congress to pass a Congressional Term Limits Amendment.

And above all, NEVER REELECT ANYONE in Congress, regardless of party, UNTIL WE GET THAT CONGRESSIONAL TERM LIMITS AMENDMENT!
