Happy third day of Hanukkah to my Jewish friends and readers. Those who have followed this column will remember my mention of having friends from Israel who are very closely connected there. I wrote about my friend who was a veteran of two of Israel’s wars and who had the dubious honor of having two different tanks shot out from under him and living to talk about it.
We were talking about the fires in Israel. Two things came out of the brief discussion. One, we both feel certain that the fires are due to arson. But further than that, look at it from the terrorists’ point of view if in fact arson it is. It’s a really low budget, zero technology, low risk hit for the terrorists. It killed over forty Israelis. They may not find it quite as easy to do next time. Israel is wasting no time bulking up on fire fighting equipment and wild lands fire fighting technology.
It’s something we have an awful lot of experience with here in America. I have another friend who is a crew leader on a federal hot-shot fire crew. He was on the same fire in northern California that took the lives of a fire crew… he was one ridge over. He told me that if the wind had shifted the other way it could have been his crew. The Israelis will learn from the best.
Here’s where it gets ugly… and it’s not the first time it’s occurred to me. Low budget (no funds to solicit), no technology required (even the shoe bomber could have done it… well, maybe the panty bomber), low risk. Any idea how many unpopulated wildland / forested square miles in the US? I don’t know either, but it’s a lot.
It’s something we need to consider. There were some fires that got started last year that I was really dubious about. The potential is there, and and it is indeed an area where we are even more vulnerable than Israel because of our extensive forests and wild lands. I can’t speak for all forests but I can speak for the area up in the sierras where I and a friend hold some mining claims. It’s remote, it’s heavily forested with steep slopes to the watercourses. We have to be extraordinarily careful with fire and equipment operation down there. That’s what it’s like in much of our forests, remote… and vulnerable.
I’m not in any way suggesting keeping good people out of our forests. In fact, I’d invite as many good woodsmen as we could find to spend as much time as they could doing what they love. Up in the mountains it’s amazing how much a trained set of eyeballs can see.
Has the Anointed One manned up and silenced ‘his inner muslim'? Has he declared war on international islamo-fascism? On the sworn enemies our country? On the less-than-human animals from a benighted cult, who kill innocent men, women and children for a doctrine of hate and conquest?
A victim of a Taliban acid attack.
No. He’s too busy running interference for Hamas, Hizballah, Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and those he-men, the Taliban. You know, the ones who like to throw acid in the faces of little girls? Has Obama declared war on the Gulf disaster, the unbelievably vast damage from which is due, in no small part, to his own foot-dragging and direct interference in stopping substantive efforts which would have made a considerable impact if adopted early on? No!
Obama’s war is against tiny democratic states, such as Honduras and Israel, whose only crime has been that they will not accede to tyranny. In fact, they have in essence told him to stick it in his ear. Obama’s war is against the sovereign State of Arizona, which had the nerve to insist that the Federal Government actually perform one of the few jobs for which it has a constitutional mandate… that of defending our borders.
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has placed Eric Holder and the Obama administration on notice that she will take them to the mat on this. Arizona is on solid legal ground. The government’s case appears specious, citing extracted fragments of case law which they have cherry picked.
A train full of prospective illegal immigrants heads for the Mexico-US border.
It’s been proven time and again, and just as quickly ignored by the Feds, that our undefended southern border is a virtual highway for terrorist penetration of our country from every antagonist state on the globe. There are reports that Venezuela may be serving as a staging area for terrorists on their way up through South and Central America to Mexico. Just how extensive their participation may be is unknown as yet, but I, for one, wouldn’t put anything past Hugo. Or Obama either, for that matter. These terrorists are burrowed down and waiting, possibly in a mosque near you.
Obama’s war is against you and me. It’s against our Constitution. It’s against home and hearth. It’s purely and simply against everything in this country that we hold dear. Obama’s war against Arizona is unconstitutional and immoral. With hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens pouring across their border, the state is simply insisting that the government do its job.
There is something which hasn’t gotten a lot of attention, but could loom very large in the not-too-distant future. Remember back when Barry Hussein was spewing his lies in front of both chambers of Congress and used the bully pulpit to attack the Supreme Court? At the time it occurred, I wrote that Obama may regret politicizing the Supremes. It was clear then that Chief Justice Roberts was less than pleased and, according to reports, is still really angry with Obama’s cavalier treatment of the members of the Court.
Roberts is going to be running that Court for the foreseeable future. Many cases are going to come before that court sponsored by state governments and others, because the states are not the only ones bringing suit, claiming that many of the Obama administration’s acts in the last two years are unconstitutional.
I guess it could be construed to be the principle of unintended consequences. Obama’s self-indulgent tirade cost him the good will of the court.
But it just might have given the American people an unexpected ally in our war for freedom.
It can’t be the American people…WE didn’t ask that the most virulently dangerous terrorists on earth be brought to American soil, so that they could be defended at the bar of our courts by Marxist ACLU attorneys and given rights that should be reserved only for citizens of this country. Eric Holder and associates have a lot to answer for.
Meanwhile, the Osama–whoops slip of the tongue that– the Obama mis-administration is busy with a purely Soviet-style purge in our government, that far outshines anything that Bill and Hill did at the advent of their ‘most ethical administration in history’, beginning with the firing of the White House travel office employees.
Mr Fair-and-Open is going back FIVE YEARS to purge Republican and Conservative appointees, to replace them with good little Trotskyite apparatchiks like Anita Dunn, another fatality of the people of this country actually listening to what these Politburo types say and then holding them to it.
Obama can’t make a decision or WON’T make a decision to reinforce our forces in harms way, but he sure seems to be able to make every wrong decision possible regarding this country, its people and its rapidly failing economy. We have political correctness operating in high gear throughout the highest command of our military…this HAS to be a top down attitude. Not ALL of our military…the attitude of the chain of command down at the level of the combat commands is a little different, thank God. But no less affected by it, because they cannot help BUT be affected by a weak and cowardly Commander-in-Chief.
The question is, as I’m sure many millions of Americans have secretly asked themselves, just who or what is Obama working for…who is it that’s yanking this guys chain? Can it be that he’s REALLY that stupid, inept and naive? It is as suspicious as all get out that his Muslim outreach program just happens to encompass bringing internationally known terrorists into our courtrooms, where they will be able to make a mockery of our system and allow a grandstanding display to encourage others like them around the world. Meanwhile, rabid leftist attorneys, who already having done much to destroy our Constitution and our system of jurisprudence, attempt to get them off on one technicality or another that they may again be able to go forth and murder more Americans. Any one or two of these factors could be written off as coincidental. Taken as a totality, it’s mind boggling.
We were warned for years about the evils of socialism and communism and it’s here. We have an awful lot to do to save our country. We must be strong of faith and will. We must join with our families, friends and neighbors, together with all like-minded patriots, to defeat this monstrous evil once and for all.
Architects, Paul Murdoch and Byrd Woltz designed the memorial with the shape of a crescent. Would they design a memorial for an attack in a predominately Muslim nation in the shape of a cross? If you were to stand right between the tips of the crescent and face into the center of the crescent, you would be facing North East, which from the crash-site is the direction to Mecca. That is the Muslim direction for prayer, so if you are a Muslim, this site should make you quite happy. -- There is audio available for this article: Click Here.
I don't always agree with her, but this time Peggy Noonan offers the best version I have seen of the questions facing President Obama et al. regarding terrorists, detention, and interrogation:
The question for the Obama administration: Do they think Mr. Cheney is essentially correct, that bad men are coming with evil and deadly intent, but that America can afford to, must for moral reasons, change its stance regarding interrogation and detention of terrorists? Or, deep down, do the president and those around him think Mr. Cheney is wrong, that people who make such warnings are hyping the threat for political purposes? And, therefore, that interrogation techniques, etc., can of course be relaxed? I don't know the precise answer to this question. Do they know exactly what they think? Or are they reading raw threat files each day trying to figure out what they think?
The legendary Spanish poet and author Miguel de Cervantes said, ”Tell me what company you keep and I’ll tell you what you are.” Well, the company Sen. Obama keeps is downright troubling. Of course, the mainstream media has neglected to cover Sen. Obama’s lesser points and so the stories of his associations with anti-American terrorists like William Ayers have gone largely untold. But the American Issues Project launched a new ad examining the relationship between Sen. Obama and unrepentant terrorist William Ayers.
