Help needed: Web content

This is a great call to action. -Patrick

We need content.

For too long, we’ve conceded the creative, clever and artistic to liberal causes both on the web and on the street. Can someone tell me why? The left has used graphics and video to affect public opinions, generate earned media and most importantly raise funds. Need a recent example? Take a look at Shepard Fairey’s Obama posters.

Perhaps it’s just me, but it feels like the conservative movement on the web is reaching a tipping point.  We’ve got this shiny new blog here and some renewed vigor as the elections approach. But we’re still lacking is the Do It Yourself, street campaign mentality.

Do a Google Image search on “George Bush” and count how many Photoshopped pictures you find – just little graphics people have thrown together, posted and e-mailed around. Now try it with a Democrat. See the difference?

This is a start, but we need more. We need desktop wallpapers of Dems. We need more parodies of campaign posters. We need to get creative and get better on the web.  We need more.

So if you’ve got Photoshop or lesser-known-but-free GIMP – make with the funny. Or make with the serious. Start flooding YouTube with clever and timely videos. Post more comments and include pictures.

Besides, I know a bunch of you - we’re funnier and more clever than our competition. Probably better looking too. And taller.

Yes

I agree, political satire is scarce on the right wing of the internet. Many adolescents who only just discovered political activism on the internet in the last 8 years were flooded with incessant fun-poking at Bush's expense. This kind of effect mustn't be underestimated.

I thought this was original when I made it a couple of weeks ago, turns out someone else somewhere on the internet beat me to the punch but here's my version, it might get a snicker out of someone :)

The Values Voter's Blog

Have you checked out The Values Voter's Blog?  He does a fantastic job of research and is not opposed to using graphics.  Go to http://thevaluesvoter.spaces.live.com/default.aspx and check some of his articles.  A reliable source said you might be able to persuade him to join "The Next Right."

YouTube isn't the be-all, end-all of online video

The conservative movement now its own video-sharing and social-networking tool, courtesy of the Media Research Center. And we want your contributions.

We're looking for "webitorials" for our "Bloggy Pulpit" channel (http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/channel.aspx?ChannelID=9), clever and recurring video shows, coverage of conservative speakers and footage of liberals behaving badly. We're working to create a network of conservative citizen video journalists across the country. We'll even pay the best and most frequent contributors.

If you have video, audio or other content, register and upload it. If you have ideas for shows, contact me by visiting the about page on our Web site. Or if you just want to watch or embed on your site the best, current and most comprehensive collection of conservative video on the Internet, go to www.eyeblast.tv.

Yes!

This is an important issue to me, as one of the few conservative graphic designers on the planet. We have totally ceded the cool factor to the other side. One of the cleverest things the NRA did when it got a bump up in membership was invest money in making its flagship magazine LOOK good and not so old and stuffy and fuddy-duddy.

Oh, and just to blow my own horn, I have contributed Zombie Reagan to the conversation and...ummm...other graphics I'm afraid to link to for fear multiple links will trigger your spam filter. Check me out! I'm arty!

We can post pictures?!

In that case:

I has moar!

Pick me! Pick me!

You know the sad thing? Even now we're getting a glimpse of Obama's Marxist petticoats, I find him hard to dislike. Unlike our guy, whom I find easy to dislike.

2008 sucks! :(

great!

There is some really great stuff here.  It's reassuring to know that there is a community of people who'd like to see more of this.

I guess the next step would be to circulate it - stickers sent to College Repubs, and local parties, files posted around the web, etc.

Of course, there's value in just producing it, even if it's just to make ourselves laugh.

THE NEW CONSEERVATIVE LEADERSHIP OF THE RPUBLIAN PARTY

Because I am a Wisconsinite, I am very familiar with the immediate future of conservatism, congressman Paul Ryan www.ryanforcongress.com/  ;  www.house.gov/ryan/He has just subbitted a bill to congress to overhaul Social Security, Medicare, and the tax system in one fell swoop.  It needs to be aired and discussed daily.  Just as the liberals jam items in our faces day after day, this needs the same attention.  Let's start here!

Horror movie posters

Awhile ago, I had an idea that some dem-themed old horror movie posters might be funny:

Porkman Poster

(Sorry for the link, the post wouldn't take the image for some reason).

I've started a Flickr group for this sort of thing.  Let me know your Flickr acct name if you're interested.

And now for something completely different
