Dude, I love Sarah just asmuch as the next person

but why would she accept the RNC position even if she were "drafted?"  She wants to be president!  I think serving out her term and continuing work on that gasline is more impressive for her resume than running the RNC but that's just me.

By the way, if you have any Palin contacts, I'd advise her to reject Obama's offer of federal stimulus money.  She'd be a shoe-in as the 2012 nominee if she rejected that money as she'd be walking the walk about spending, rather than just talking the talk as other governors.  Why does Alaska need that money anyway?  It's one of seven states that isn't projected to have a financial shortfall in the next two years and she put away $7 billion into savings.

You might be right

There are a lot of reasons why she would be better politically served if she engaged herself in a national position like the RNC Chair. It could work towards addressing her political negatives in a positive way. Being the head of the RNC and establishing her political imprimatur upon the partry could also help establish her leadership credentials among fiscal conservatives and other party sceptics, while keeping her in the public eye.

But more than that, the RNC position could place her in a position where she could help the party with the 2010 Congressional District elections, while forming important political allies within Congress, allies she will need for a successful presidency.

I realize this type of pre-planning has never been contemplated before, to this extent anyway, but time is short. Her political prowess is at its peek. It would be a waste of her political talent not to use it to its fullest. Being the Governor of Alaska is a great accomplishment. But being called upon to be the leader of the nation, requires a much stronger political foundation. Unfortunately, Gov. Palin will not be able to acquire such a political foundation as the Govenor of Alaska. But as the RNC Chair, she will be in the perfect position to change the party and create the kind of political foundation she will need to successfully lead this country back to economic prosperity.

But as far as accepting the federal stimulus money, I agree. Giving states money without requiring significant cutbacks in state wages and expenses will do nothing by way of lowering state taxes, a key componet of any economic recovery.
