Move to the left, the corporate elite of the party demands.

There are two very interesting Politico articles out today that, in my humble opinion, has "Corporate America's" political fingerprints all over them. One is entitled: "Good riddance? GOP relies on Specter-like recruits", and the other, entitled: "GOP base rips Cantor's National Council for a New America".

Now I can't consider myself by any stretch of the imagination a social conservative, but when it comes to who has the real stranglehold on the Republican party, there is absolutely no comparison with that of the party's corporate overlords, and not the social conservative wing.

What we have here with the recent formation of the NCNA group is a specific political campaign, designed to "steer the political debate" away from the growing grassroot opposition to federal run-away deficit spending.

Well now, I could be wrong. I mean, it's only a guess. But from my experience what we are looking at here is the very beginnings of a full-court press by the corporate wing of the party to denigrate and diminish the Tea Party movement and substitute one of its own making, one it can control.

Oh Lord

When you have the corporate (business) wing of the party and the Tea Party (unfocused populist) wing of the party going at each other, I'm afraid you actually have no Republican party left...

Did you see how I used the entire "Republican" title there?  That's a sign of basic respect.  When you call us the democrat party, we see you as juveniles, and you get what you deserve.

Do we have a Republican party left?

"When you have the corporate (business) wing of the party and the Tea Party (unfocused populist) wing of the party going at each other, I'm afraid you actually have no Republican party left"...

Behind every successful liberal policy is a failed conservative one.

One of the hardest things to do in politics is to see yourself as the problem. I say that guardedly, because "corporatism," in its partisan sense, isn't the actual problem, it's its complete domination within the Republican party that is the true cause of our present troubles.

The Republican party that I knew would have respected the Tea Party movement -- that unfocused populist wing of the party -- and focused it into a political force instead of trying to destroy it. We have to ask ourselves today: Why isn't that happening with the party?

TARP and deficit spending not withstanding, if the grassroot of the party was empowered, the party would naturally move to the left. These guys over at NCNA aren't political neophytes. They are experienced politicians, one and all. So they would have to know this as well. So its the Tea Party's opposition to the TARP and deficit spending that is the main political target of the NCNA and the corporate wing of the party as well. Interesting.

I hate to break it to you, but things could soon get worse than the subtle (or not so subtle) disrespect implied in the 'Democrat party' phrasing.  The GOP is determined to face head-on the serious issues confronting the party and the nation, as noted in a Time online article this week:

The RNC is about to vote on a kindergartenish resolution to change the name of its opponent to the Democrat Socialist Party.

(Link to full article:  http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1896588,00.html)

Which pretty much tells you all you need to know about the GOP's grasp on reality.

And evidence of this self-reflection and effort to promote conservatism continues to mount.  This past week the local Rush-wannabes riffed on a theme best described as "Of Mustard and Mexicans."  You think Rush, Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly, etc. are alarming spokespeople for the GOP?  At least their motivation to be sure the millions keep rolling in act as some form of modest check on their outrageousness.  The local Rush-alikes operate under no such constraints -- the more outrageous they are, the better for ratings.  This week we in Phoenix learned that all Mexicans are criminals and spread disease, and should never trust elitists who use Dijon mustard.  Who knew?

Yes, masters at winning friends and influencing voters...

Conservatism's only constituency

Corporate wing of the republican party? More like the corporate conservative republican party.

The people who believe that corporations should run the country is like 90% of the GOP. Who do you think has been funding the GOP all these years? Why do you think they were beating the dems consistently in fundraising? It's the corporate conservative republican party, combined with the Blue Dogs in the House, and 8-12 corporate dems in the senate that vote for all the boondogles that come out of congress.

Why do you think they tell you that healthcare is great just as it is? Can't allow those health insurance donors to starve. Why do you think they want to privatize social security? Wall Street was salivating at the thought of all the fees they could rack up managing "private accounts". Why else would they tell you global warming is a myth? Big oil must be allowed to make their billions. Why did you think W passed that monster of a pharmacutical bill? The drug companies had to have their cut!

Why do you think republicans are against campaign finance reform, and hated McCain-Feingold? How where they going to pay off their true constituency?

Asking Questions, are you. Here are some Answers

Who do you think has been funding the GOP all these years?

Hmmm, was it George Soros  ?   Gates from MIcrosoft ?  AIG  ?  Naw, AIG gave more to Democrats  .... Was it Madof of the Ponzi contributors ?   Hedge funds  ?

at least the Republicans did not accept Foreign Donations or campaign contributions from overseas like Obama.  It was proven that Obama's people turned OFF the Credit Card Verification for addresses and such, and as a Test of a Cr. Card Donation of $ 5 from a Hong Kong Credit card was "Accepted" by Obama's Campaign, and "Rejected" by McCain's Campaign.   And those silly Foreign exchange money conversions turned all those Obama Campaign contributions into $ 128.44, thousands of ODD contribution amounts ?   Why not give $50 or $100 ?  Oh, you did, but those were Foreign Contributions turned into  $ 41.12.......

Why do you think they were beating the dems consistently in fundraising?

Polls show 70 % of Americans consider themselves Conservative ?

Why do you think they tell you that healthcare is great just as it is?

Because American healhcare is the BEST in the World ?  Because Canadians and Europeans flock to America to get REAL healthcare FAST when their lives are in Danger ?  I think you've watched too many Michael Moore Propaganda Movies.   I'll vote for Government healthcare with I get the SAME Health Care coverage as our Congressmen and Women.

Why do you think they want to privatize social security?

Because if I had Contributed $168,000 dollars into the Stock Market, which is the Amount I gave to Social Security over my lifetime.....I would have been RICH, and the Government would NOT have STOLEN my Money like they ROBBED the Social Security Fund.  And don't forget my Employers gave/matched my contributions.   Where is my  $336,000....in a lock box somewhere ?

Why else would they tell you global warming is a myth?

Duh.....The Earth has been cooling since 2007, 2008 was the Coldest Winter is almost a 100 Years, both the North and South Poles show record Ice Packs,  The SUN has no Sunspots according to National Geographic we are headed into another ICE age if this Son Spot activity does not come back.

Why did you think W passed that monster of a pharmacutical bill?

Wait a minute, doesn't "Congress" pass Bills, not the President ?

Why do you think republicans are against campaign finance reform, and hated McCain-Feingold?

I thought Obama embraced McCain-Feingold as a Campaign promise......before he changed his mind and Lied to McCain ?  Americans are Against Lobbyists and Corporations buying our Representatives.   We are a Country with a representative Government, not a Government with a representative  Country.

How where they going to pay off their true constituency?

Democrats Pay off their UNION Constituency....UAW, Chrysler, etc....and don't forget Obama's Threat to California about the Health Care Union wages....

Republicans do not have Chicago Pay to Play Tendencies......AIG Bonuses were approved by Chris Dodd and Obama, ya know ?  Blagojavich was a Democrat, ya know ?

Response

  1. Where was it proven Obama accepted foreign donations? Talk radio doesn't count as proof. I already noted in my post that we have dems who are bought and payed for. Now the special interests go to them to defeat progressive legislation. Blue Dogs wield the hammer of voting with repubs to water down meaningful legislation.
  2. In what poll do 70% of people ID as conservative? It's funny how conservatives point to the polling of broad terms such as liberal, conservative, and moderate as proof of the country being majority conservative. Many of the people in those polls who call themselves "conservative" you would regard as moderate or liberal. Most voter ID polls have dems-35%, indy-35%, repub-28%. A lot of self identified conservatives in those other polls voted for Obama, Kerry, Gore, and Clinton.
  3. No, you listen to too much talk radio. That's exactly the propaganda Hannity passes off as truth. Truth - http://www.time.com/time/2008/health_care/.

  4. No, you would be broke, because the crash would have decimated your holdings.

  5. I heard Glenn Beck make this sunspot argument. Guess you were listening to. Truth-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change   http://ams.allenpress.com/archive/1520-0477/89/9/pdf/i1520-0477-89-9-1325.pdf  http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/tabledata/GLB.Ts.txt

  6. You know I mean it was mostly his proposal.

  7. Obama never promised to accept public financing. This question in the linked article was posed to him a year before he started raising gobs of money. And on Fox News Sunday in April '08, he said participating in public financing was contigent on an agreement with McCain to not allow the RNC, or independent groups to spend huge amounts of money on ads. He was consistent from beginning to end.

  8. Once again, what proof are you providing to show the he was paying off the UAW?

Okay, skayne...

...I was with you until you mentioned campaign finance, and your take on global warming.

But true partisan corporatism has no political ideology other than its own. Even as we speak, it is busy infiltrating itself into the Democratic party. Liberal, conservative, whatever it takes to regain and maintain political power.

Who had the most to lose?

Why else do you think there was an outcry about limits on individual donations and to PACs? The bill made it harder to donate vast sums of money, directly affecting corporations and special interests. It also put a restrictions on soft money donations. Who else would this affect more than corporate interests?
