Taxpayers take it on the chin either way

So let this one free-market, fiscal conservative, Republican get it straight, either we go along with this $700 billion massive taxpayer ripoff now or we will have to accept a massive FDR-Great Depression type economic stimulus package later?
I categorically reject this assessment. The one true goal before us at present is to protect the value of the dollars we all have in our bank accounts, period. Once that value goes down, it won't matter how much your savings are insured by the federal government, or how much you manage to stuff under your bed, it will be gone.
So, yes; our message as free-market, fiscal conservative Republicans should be, "First, do nothing in hast, especially before a general election.
Secondly, if the taxpayer does have to act, it should do so as a partnership with those calling upon such action, i.e., the lending institutions, as well as the mortgagess -- all must bear equal responsibility.
Thirdly, rely on a fully "regulated" free-market as the only true way to protect the value of the dollar of every taxpayer --
LORD POLONIUS:
Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
-- All else will be only an illusion...
