The reforming of the Republican political culture...

...is taking place right now before our very eyes! It last surfaced a few days ago in the California ballot initiatives. Our political leaders, left and right, will do everything in their power to try and stop it because they are only interested in preserving their own political power. But the Tea Party movement of anti-TARP, anti-Stimulus, anti-deficit spending, anti-uncontrollable government growth is growing stronger every day.
Its first political goal, IMHO, should be to throw out all those members of Congress who supported TARP.
Well done to the voters in California. The struggle continues. Long live the struggle!

Struggle?
What struggle? The struggle to keep all the spending Californians want but refuse to pay for in higher taxes?
The spending was from...
...public service employees' unions and other state officials. What we have here is the final result of state officials afraid of state employees calling for a strike, unless they are granted higher and higher wages. This threat is even effective in areas where it is unlawful for state employees to strike.
Finally, the voters of California simply said no more to this fascist structure. It is this new awareness that the grassroot taxpayer is now becoming aware of and continue to grow in this recession. This is, and has always been, the cultural foundation of the Republican party, a culture most of the members of the NCNA have violated and should be removed from office forthwith.

oh please
the "no" votes were protests to California's byzantine proposition system and ridiculous budget/tax rules for the legislature. It's completely irresponsible to put tax increases out to the public as ballot initiatives. That is the government's responsibility to legislate.
So sorry to burst your tea party bubble, but we've got more pressing things to worry about than your fear mongering.
What on earth are you talking about?
Did I miss something here? The voters of California have no say when it comes to taxation? Where did this view come from? As far as I am concerned, every state should have a two/thirds rule on raising taxes without a referendum.
I hope every true Republican can read your post and see just what kind of mindset actually pervades public service unions and state bureaucrats. No wonder government growth is uncontrollable!
Good grief!

Taxes Are A Taking Of Property
Increased taxes are a "taking" of property, and since this is a government of the people and taxation was a major issue the original war was fought over, than increases in taxes Constitutionally should be put before the voters. And that means at all levels with respect to actual taxing of individuals, not corporations. Corporations are property and were meant to be taxed, and taxed highly. Corporations are only taxed on their profit in this country at the present time, not taxed on their "worth" or value as was done by the founders so they even have a choice in their taxation levels by trickling down those profits. What has happened instead is that the neocon Republicans and Democrats have afforded them "privileges and immunities" they were never, ever intended to have, and are also using our government in order to not only mandate and legislate the purchase of their products (mandatory insurance laws), but also reduce their risk and losses in the process (hundreds of industry favoring laws now throughout the country without any sufficient regulation whatsoever in many of the major industries in this country, including banking, insurance, health care "networks" and the like).
We are living under global corporate socialism now, due to one rougue decision of the Supreme Court after the Civil War and that was the creation of another party to our Constitutio that is not and never was intended to be given any "rights" at all - the creation of "corporate person-hood" and that one decision is why our Congressmen and Senators are now now more than corporate lackeys for their next campaign - which also occurred due to the 16th and 17th amendment which then made thestates also no more than lobbyists at the federal trough and centralized our government into the behemouth that it now is.
You all need to study history after the Civil War - since ever Constitutional abridgement that has been made since then has gotten us to where we are today - beginnning with using the 14th Amendment meant to equalize the slaves, in order to march across the country using that one Amendment in order to create a "person" out of "property."
