There is now no question

If anyone had previous doubt regarding Barak Obama's concepts and core beliefs regarding the establishment of a New World Order, they are now dissipated.
Barak Obama, the President of the United States,Comander in Chief of our military, who put his hand on the Bible just a few months ago and swore on that Bible to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" has now in so many words publically stated his belief in a New World Order. All you have to do is think "New World Order" and read his speech in Cairo and you'll see it.
Heaven help us all.

Could you be specific about what troubles you?
Could you be specific about what troubles you? Was it the part where he said that we are NOT at war with Islam?
You mean this?
LOL
Not at all
It's a given that no one wants war especially a religious one, and your insinuation that I or anyone who disagrees with BHO on the big issues is disingenouous and insulting. (By the way, I guess it's OK now for us to add the "H" back in his name... at least for today, while he's in Cairo).
My belief that he's a One World Order president ( just the sound of that is frightening) is found primarily 1) in his opening remarks (after the thank you's to Cairo Univeristy), 2) a misunderstanding on his part of Muslim history that he made in the middle ( in order to endear himself to unfounded Muslim pride, I am sure) and 3) especially in his conclusion remarks about the Koran ( what he calls "the Holy Koran"), the Torah and the Bible, where he tries to forge a sort of one world Torah-Bibical-Koranic statement... that's the really scary part.
1) Opening clues:(bolds are mine for emphasis and clues to his real intentions)
"I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world; one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect; and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition."
2) Middle misinterpretation and misunderstanding of history
"As a student of history, I also know civilization's debt to Islam. It was Islam – at places like al-Azhar University – that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe's Renaissance and Enlightenment"
Student of history? I don't know what history books he used at Harvard.I guess they skipped the chapters about the Moorish Invasion and the Battle of Tours in the 8th Century. The only thing Muslims carried were swords during that "paving"-after the Battle of Tours they carried more than a sword... they carried all the European booty and gold they could back home... and if there was any "enlightment" made to Europe, it was Europe's "enlightenment" of the monetary profits and gain that could be made as modeled by the Muslim slave trade of Africans.( I encourage anyone interested to read Islamic Imperialism, by Professor Efriam Karsh of King's College, University of London) .
"Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance."
(Huh? Say what, Mr. President????
Tell that to the family of Daniel Pearl, Mr. President. Tell that to the families of those soldiers in Iraq whose naked bodies were dragged through the streets by the cheering crowds and were burned and then hung on bridges in Basra. Tell it to the families left fatherless and motherless because of 9/11, and afterward the celebration througout the Muslim world over the henous act in New York on that terrible day.
3) The conclusion of BHO's speech is one big liberal quasi- religious- cum-bay-ya fest, where he suggests that with a little Holy Book cherry picking, we'll find the keys to happiness, peace and we'll get the big picture. Then and only then, in the words of Rodney King we can "all get along". This is BHO's most telling One Worldism... in fifth gear and in the fast lane:
"The Holy Koran tells u: "O mankind! We have created you male and a female; and we have made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another."
( The Koran also says that those that "make war upon Allah and his messenger...will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off..." ( The Koran, Surat al-Ma'idah 5:33)
The Talmud tells us: "The whole of the Torah is for the purpose of promoting peace."
The Holy Bible tells us: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."
"The people of the world can live together in peace. We know that is God's vision. Now, that must be our work here on Earth. Thank you. And may God's peace be upon you."
(and an 'assalamu alaykum' back at you, Barak!)
While BHO can cherry pick various holy passages that sound simalarly nice (and there are some similarities in the three scriptures, recounting historical figures such as Abraham, Moses and Jesus) and he can ingratiate his hosts with words like "holy Koran" and "peace be upon you" and "blessed be there are acute differences in practice, interpretation and worldview between of Islam, Judaism and Christianity. A nice speech isn't going to change any of that, no matter how many times liberals want to hold hands and sing around the proverbial campfires of 'Yeah-but-it makes-me-feel-good' tolerance.
BHO has done enough apologizing to the world (first in Europe, now Arabia- what's next North Korea?)for the country that elected him president. Until Islam cleans up it's own house with actions (not just words) will we see true progress toward peaceful co-existance.
Stop the presses!
Stop the presses! You mean there are DIFFERENCES between Islam, Judaism and Christianity?? Shock horror.
In this speech he basically said he considered the Islamic nations to be equals. Well, good for him. It is going to be that much harder to convince the Arab youth that America is the Great Satan becasue of it. Remember - it was ultimately rock-n-roll and blue jeans that brought down the Iron Curtain.
I'm not going to bother to comment on your obvious anti-Muslim bias, which you have demonstrated on this site before. However, I do feel compelled to remind you that there would not have been a Renaissance were it not for Islamic scholarship.
Idiots think as idiots learn... Nannie
Nannie offers: "Remember - it was ultimately rock-n-roll and blue jeans that brought down the Iron Curtain".
No, Silly Rabbit, it wasn't American consumer products that brought down the Iron Curtain (and good that liberals are now recognizing there even was an Iron Curtain at one time -wow that's progress for them), it was Reagan's demand that Russian "reformers" prove their mettle and intent by actually allowing free travel, access and cultural assimilation across Eastern Europe if, indeed, the Russians really believed their society superior to the West's.
That and a heavy arms race into outer space that Russia couldn't match and her economy collapsed. If the Russian oil industry had been more developed, there'd likely still be an Iron Curtain --jeans and rock & roll withstanding.
But you keep thinking that Reagan and Thatcher and other conservatives aren't responsible for tearing down the Iron Curtain and ending the Cold War in a peaceful, diplomacy-centered push. 'Cause that probably helps you sleep at night.
At the end of the day, just like with the farLeft now engaged in their Bush-Cheney-GOP hatefests & historical revisionisms, most liberals fear that history will give far greater credit for world progress to conservatives than they will to liberals --whose only lasting contribution in the 20thC is the Great Welfare State, a deeply seated drug culture, regional genocides and an expansion of communism.
Rock & roll and blue jeans? Idiots think as idiots learn.
Michigan-Matt, you bully, stop the name-calling
You have insulted and harassed most people on this site, Left, Right and Center. If you got any balls first go settle your issue with John Henke. Oh, it's already settled.
You are lucky it was Henke and not someone like Ruffini, otherwise you would have got your arse kicked for good.
Read Peter Sis's "The Wall" and come back and tell me
Read Peter Sis's "The Wall" and come back and tell me that it wasn't cultural issues that caused the Soviet world to collapse. North Korea limps along becasue its people are still in thrall to the warped ideology - the Soviet Union imploded because its people got a glimpse of what was possible on the other side of the wall and decided that they wanted change. Reagan skillfully exploited an opening that was created by the diseffection of the population in the Soviet Union - try those exact same tactics on North Korea and nothing will happen. And now Obama is seeking ways to drive a wedge between Islamic moderates and fanatics. It is about time somebody had the smarts and guts to tack in that direction.
"carried the light of learning"
You objected to Obama saying, "that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe's Renaissance and Enlightenment"
Yet, this is completely true. The learning that "paved the way" for the Renaissance and Enlightenment started with the Ancient Greeks and was maintained and extended by pre-Christian Romans and then early Muslims before being before picked up by the Europeans.
There was a time, lasting several centuries, when Arab culture was the most scientifically progressive and enlightened in the world. Religious fundamentalism eventually brought it down, just as it did with classical Rome. But there is real reason to doubt that, without the Arabic translations of the ancient Greek works, there would have been a Renaissance or Enlightenment.
Bunk
if it weren't for the Italians, there would be no Renaissance. I challenge you to read this link in its entirety.
And where did the Italians get their books?
Duh - obviously the Renaissance began in Italy. But where did the Italians get their texts from??? The Latin libraries of the Roman world all but disappeared in the dark ages - the Renaissance was sparked by the re-discovery of the classical world of thought via what was preserved in Byzantium and the Muslim world. The re-discovery of Aristotle was the most important single event - and the essential guidebook for was the commentary of Averroes - real name Ibn Rushd, a Muslim scholar born in Cordoba.
I take it you are of Scottish descent and not actually a Scot, or you would know that.
So your name is Nando
...but your not really Italian, or you would know your history.
I've noticed you have a way of trying to support weak arguments with personal attacks.
Let's see...was Byzantium and Constantinople Muslim? Nope. Roman. Christian. Eastern Orthodox..(get it, Nando..."Constantinople....Constantine"?) It was Christian until it was overrun by Ottoman Turks in 1453.
Your most truthful word in your posting is "via" and "preserved". At the very most, they were keepers , not originators.
I guess you did not notice the word AND.
You see, when I said "in Byzantium and the Muslim world" I meant Byzantium AND the Muslim world. Get it?
Nice attempt to cover your original mistake by belittling the Muslim contribution. Yes, they were keepers - and thank God for it, otherwise much of the Ancient Greek corpus would be lost. But there were also originators - especially in the sciences.
I'm not going to continue to argue the basic elements of European history with you - go to Wikipedia and look up Averroes. Or call up the philosophy dept. at your local university and ask them how it is the West rediscovered Aristole after he had been almost completely forgotten about.
Re: NRN
And who can forget the arabic numerals (and the branch of Algebra) without which there wouldn't be much of physics and none of computer science. (The concept of Zero was popularized by the Arabs, having found it in India.) Otherwise the European world would have been stuck with the Roman numerals for many more centuries without much of progress in math and physics.
Yes
Yes, they have contributed quite a lot when you consider the number of Muslims in the world compared to other populations and their contributions.
Having been proved utterly wrong about Renaissance history
Having been proved utterly wrong about Renaissance history, you respond with some snarky jackass comment. Nice.
It's just dittohead stuff.
This was one of Rush's gems, the comparison of Muslim to Jewish Nobel winners (conveniently forgetting, of course, that a few years ago he trashed the Nobel prizes after Gore won). And look where it links -- Free Republic? Please.
Nobel prizes won by Democratic Presidents/Vice Presidents
Nobel prizes won by Democratic Presidents/Vice Presidents 2
Nobel prizes won by Republican Presidents/Vice Presidents 1
Therefore, Democratic Administrations are twice as good as Republicans.
