Drill, drill, drill

Well that was the battle cry from McCain, Gingrich, Larry Kudlow, and others. According to Boone Pickens who was on C-Span yesterday, you can drill all of ANWR, the coasts, and the gulf and you would come up with 2 million barrels a day. We consume 12 million barrels a day. This statistic I did not know, and while I favor drilling, we also need alternative methods.

And another news flash: water is wet

EVERYBODY has been saying ALL ALONG that we need alternative energy.  There is ZERO disagreement on this point.

Agreed - "D) all of the

Agreed - "D) all of the above" was the most popular (and politically safest) approach when this was a bigger issue in the public consciousness last year.

Then gas prices came back down to more reasonable levels and it seems to be business as usual for the most part (in the media) with all the other distractions. The present lack of fuel-saving tips and experts on every other newscast or radio soundbite is noticeable.

There was even some startup advertising in my area for clients to "lock in" gas prices for the future with his fuel service. Not sure of the details, maybe he was in cahoots with the Somali pirates, but apparently he could guarantee you'd be sitting pretty at $4.00 a gallon while everyone else was suffering at $7.00 a gallon (or even worse!).

Needless to say, that commercial has been conspicuously absent as of late as well.

LOL!!!

I remember the commercials last year where, if you bought a new car, you could lock $3.00 gas for three years.

I knew it was a scam then, even I didn't realize how big of scam it was.

the oil companies were pretty dramatically underselling

the cost of gas. So in principle, that sounded like a decent idea -- if the economy wasn't due to collapse. AND if you could trust him to stay in business, and not just disappear with your money.

Big ifs, those.

Boone Pickens is a corporate welfare whore

And the democrats are in power.  Who cares what he thinks?

That said, I am grateful to him for getting the truth out about John Kerry in 2004.
