If every electoral vote matters

We might have a vote to pick up in in Maine.
Rassmussen reports the Obama lead in ME down to 4 points, and Palin has been very well received there.
A note on ME. It splits its 4 EV's ; 2 to the statewide winner, and 1 for each Congressional district. The 1st district (metro Portland) is more urban and Democratic, while the 2nd District is huge and rural and voted for Kerry by only a 6 point edge. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maine%27s_2nd_congressional_district
I would suspect that Palin's lifestyle plays a lot better in rural ME than in the urban areas, meaning it is likely that should this state only narrowly voted Obama, McCain would carry the 2nd District.
Note to McCain team: think Sarah at a hangar rally in Bangor.

It's Worth Considering
Maybe combine it with a trip to New Hampshire.
Personally, I hope McCain fights for Washington, maybe Oregon too.
I think Palin helped in the far northern states
since McCain seems to have also picked up ground in WI and MN. There have been some close polls out of WA, but I still wonder if the lib vote in the 206 area code is just going to be too large to overcome. It's probab;y worth a little of Palin's time to land the plane in WA or OR on the wat to/from Alaska though.
OR votes totally by mail so waiting until late in the campaign is problematic, by the way---most votes are already cast.
Actually
I tend to think WA Is the sleeper. You got Dino Rossi running close for Governor, so you've already got a strong candidate under McCain. OR is problematic because of Gordon Smith running ads highlighting him working with Obama.
