I'm Ironman, and #IAMTHEMOB

I'm "Ironman" a suburban CT attorney. I don;t shout, try to limit my profanity, and open doors for women, children and seniors.

And   #IAMTHEMOB

I am the "mob" because whn I was younger I met nurses who moved from Ontario to CT. I never heard of a nurse moving in the other direction.

I am the mob because if my father-in-law lived in the UK he'd probably be dead by now.

I am the mob because the CBO says health care "reform" is a $10 trillion dollar unfunded liability and we cannot allow this nation to go bankrupt. And we cannot raise taxes faster than liberals spend money.

I am the mob because the "public option" insurance plans I've seen in my practice are unaccountable to consumers or even regulatory agencies

And most of all, I am the mob because I've seen nada in health care reform that will improve the care of my son.

I'm not loud or particularly angry. I do own one poplin Brooks Brothers suit I bought on sale at the outlet in Lee. But I do not know any insurance lobbyists, and frankly have a jaundiced view of the business. Why would one want to make the business more centralized and less competitive makes sense only to lefties.

You may see me. I don't look different from the usual business type shlepping to the Dunkin Donut in a Toyota, so you might think I;m another Obamaton in Blue America. But you don;t need a bumper sticker to join the mob. Just your mind and your voice.

The person next to you might be in the "mob".  Maybe you should join too.

Let me suggest a possible reason

I think you might want to consider one reason why you might have met nurses who moved from Ontario to Connecticut, but never met one who moved from Connecticut to Ontario:

YOU LIVE IN CONNECTICUT.

I, for example, live in Michigan, and although I know of nurses who have moved from Ontario to Michigan, not only do I not know of any who've moved from Michigan to Ontario, I've never heard of a single one who moved from Ontario to Connecticut. THIS IS BECAUSE I DON'T LIVE IN CONNECTICUT.

Thank you.

Allow me to retort

I live in Ontario.  I have not heard of a single nurse, doctor, or medical technician who has moved from Michigan, Connecticutt, Alabama, New York or Colorado (getting the picture here?) TO Ontario.

That's because it doesn't happen.  Why move to a different country to get a lower paying job with more hours (because the country is short staffed medically and the laws of supply and demand aren't allowed to function properly)?

Canadians are thrilled to brag to Americans about our supposedly superior health care systyem, we never brag about our taxation.  and we never brag when we go to an emergency room and there's a 7 hour wait, an 11 hour wait or in a real emergency a 3 hour wait (all direct, personal experiences).

The alternative is to go to a clinic with not quite as bad wait times (still bad) if they are open.  Heaven help you if you get sick outside of 9-5 hours.

The other alternative is to schedule an appointment with your family doctor - sometimes weeks in advance, and again face a wait because the doctor can't keep up with his schedule.  That is if you can even get a family doctor.  most are maxed out and will not take new patients.

The reason those horrible conditions exist is because we are short doctors.  We lose a lot to the US where, after working hard to become an MD, their pay isn't autocratically capped by Big Brother.

People might think "free" is good, but it only seems free and with the government paying unjustly small amounts to doctors, you get what you pay for.

Thank you.
