Senator Franken

My only comment on this sad event is had the GOP national braintrust followed this sort of advice. It would not have happened

Sarah Palin barnstormed across Iowa in the closing days of the 2008 election. Accomplished a lot, didn't it.

Get back to me when the GOP leadership attains a modicum of competence, please.

If THIS

If THIS venal piece of crap can become a Senator, then there is no reason left to respect Congress.

Sarah Palin probably won it for Franken

Sarah Palin had majority unfavorables in Minnesota going into the election; had she barnstormed through the state Franken's margin of victory would have been even larger.

WTH, you are a sore loser. Franken has conducted himself well throughout this long and tedious process; meanwhile, the GOP dumped millions into what they knew was a lost cause, just to play spoiler. And now you aren't going to have those millions to fight the 2010 elections. And the Republican brand is now so tarnished in Minnesota that T-Paw is retiring.

As for "venal" - I guess you have forgetten that it is COLEMAN, not Franken, who is currently under FBI investigation for criminally receiving funds from a supporter - $75,000 paid to his wife for work she didn't do.

If you think so , NRN

Obviously we don;t know about what didn.t happened.. but I find it hard to believe Palin was in much worst stead than Michele Bachmann who beat her opponent like a drum.

Palin wasnt going to do much in urban MN, but guess what--- Coleman already had lost those voters. His net loss in Minneapolis and Sr. Paul went from 65,000 in '02 to 143,000 in '08. These people already had voted against Coleman; even with election day registration its hard to get multiple votes out of the same person.

The problem for Norm was his plurality in the rest of the state was rather static: 115,000 votes in 2002; 142,000 in 2008. His hope of victory was to smother Al so badly in places like Braneird and St. Cloud his number could not be overcome. And were there a few thousand R's who stayed home in rural MN thinking the state had been already conceced by Team Mac? My nickle says yes.

Now for the rest of your response. Evidently Coleman had a wife making "funny money" problem. So, therefore, I suppose then it is fair game to raise this and this about another Senator's spouse.

Or is now the whole topic "outrageous" whan a Senator's seemingly stay at home wife wanders into $500K/yr in cash?......7 times what you said Mrs. Coleman made

You call that "beating like a drum"?

but I find it hard to believe Palin was in much worst stead than Michele Bachmann who beat her opponent like a drum.

In a district with a CPVI of +7R, Bachmann received 46.4% of the vote, compared  to Tinklenberg's 43.4% and 10% for the 3rd party candidate. You call that "beating like a drum"?.

You insult the good people of rural Minnesota by suggesting that they would have fallen for her hockey mom bullshit had they had the chance to see it in person.

So be

You insult the good people of rural Minnesota by suggesting that they would have fallen for her hockey mom bullshit had they had the chance to see it in person.

Then be insulted.

Losing Iowa by 10 pts is a shining example of Palin 'success'

What exactly did Sarah Palin accomplish by barnstorming through Iowa?

Help to lose the state by 10 points?

Pretty pathetic if that is your definition of success

Iowa was lost before they sent here

Actually it had been well into double digits at various points...and given it was one of Obama's best primary states and McCain's worst primary states, and had voted only once narrowly for a Republican presidential candidate since 1984, the use of time and resources there---with no serious downballot race--was mystifiying .

There's the point. MN actually looked closer than IA  during the fall campaign despite what the "conventional wisdom" said---and they ignored it and lost by the same 10 point spread.

Palin to Iowa hardly mystifying

If you find Governor Palin's campaigning in Iowa in October mysterious you don't understand Governor Palin.
