So, when does the Constitution matter?
When reading about Eric Holder suggesting we read the Miranda warning to the corpse of Osama Bin Laden, an idea struck me.
When do Democrats think the Constitution really matters?
If a foreign national tries to bomb a plane out of the sky on behalf of Al-Queda, the constitution matters a great deal, since we will make sure he gets a full civilian trial.
If one of that guy's bosses is seized on an Afghan battlefield, why yes, let's give him a show trial at Foley Square.
Indeed, the best way to get a top job at the present Department of Justice is to have served as legal counsel to enemy terror detainees.
And locally, the two Chris's-- Chris Dodd and Chris Murphy-- have gone into fits of apolexy just thinking that Al Queda phone calls might have been tapped before a warrant was properly issued.
You see, when it comes to our enemies, the Constitution matters a great deal.
Now, as for this section of the Constitution , well the Democratic Party seems to be a bit less adamant about protecting its provisions.
See, its sort of simple. If you want a bill to pass--especially one people care about--maybe the elected representatives of the people ought to cast a vote they can be accountable for. So, the people can decide whether or not they agree. But not for our Nancy.
"It's more insider and process-oriented than most people want to know," the speaker said in a roundtable discussion with bloggers Monday about the reconciliation package. "But I like it," she said, "because people don't have to vote on the Senate bill."
Funny, the term "deem and pass" isn't in the Constitution. Mind telling me which penumbra its hiding behind?
The Constitution is a funny thing to the Democrats. The people who are trying to destroy the nation are entitled to its most expansive reading of protections.
But as to the taxpayers of the nation, and those members of the minority party whom they represent. Well, they are entitled to nothing as far as Constitutional due process. Nancy Pelosi, meet Judge Dredd.
Perhaps if Al-Queda opposed health care reform Nancy Pelosi would follow the Constitution?

We're watching a slow motion Suicide mission
Congress does not have the votes, yet Pelosi and Company keep posing and posturing, and avoiding the "Vote" that the "O" says the American people deserve.
There is ONLY one BILL, and its the Senate bill, and even Pelosi has had enough time to read it.
There is NO OTHER BILL.
The Deemocratic party had better vote on that Bill. Anything else would be un-constitutional, unlawful, un-enforceable, and would be ignored by the American people.
And the survey Says..."The Doctors would Quit doctoring if the present HC bill passes".....actually, 46 % say that, and only in a NJ poll.
Wanna take a chance on a 50 % reduction in Doctors ? Man, that would save a lot of Money, for sure.
And then there was that lying SOB on FOX with Brit or Bret...and the lying SOB wouldn't answer any direct questions, he just rambled on an on..........
Constitutional matters
There's constitutional abuse aplenty to spread around, but if you're going to make this a matter of political parties, there's simply no case to be made for Democrats, these days, being, by a measure of galaxies, far less abusive than Republicans. The conservative base was so insanely enraptured with Bush that they built a cult-of-personality around him while he asserted it was the plenary power of the president to kidnap anyone, anywhere in the world, even American citizens on American soil, throw them in a deep, dark hole somewhere, no access to courts, lawyers, any semblance of due process, and tortue them, send them off to foreign soil to be tortured, try them in secret kangaroo courts, and even kill them in secret, or just leave them locked in that deep, dark hole forever. He asserted, in writing, that he was no bound by hundreds of laws passed by our elected representatives in the legitimate government, made policy of baseless "legal opinions" that asserted, among other things, he could suspend constitutional rights at will, illegally dug through our financial records, illegally read our emails, illegally listened to our phone conversation, and he even tried to establish a program aimed at recruiting 1 in every 24 Americans to act as citizen-spies on the rest of us for his administration.
The list is endless, and you're not going to find a single item on the Obama agenda (except the ones he's unconscionably continued from Bush) that comes remotely close to touching one of them.
to classicliberal2
Well, of course classicliberal2's characterization of George Bush is ridiculous, sounding more like the script of a Hollywood movie than the actual truth. But, let's just assume for the humorous sake of discussion that he's absolutely right. So what? Is it your argument that because George Bush pissed on the Constitution, that it justifies Democrats just tinkling on it a little bit? Or are you just venting about George Bush one more time?
You have a bad case of BDS if you cannot let it go even now, 14 months since the man has left the public scene. Even Obama has (mostly) stopped blaming Bush for his problems.
Your usual reading comprehension problems
And on and on. Everything I wrote above is a matter of public record, and none of your witless ranting or ad hominems will change either the fact that all of it happened, or the fact that conservatives fanatically supported him while he did it. If you're denying a word of it, you're a liar, and if you aren't, you don't even have lies to substitute for a point.
My "argument" is exactly what I said; that if you're going to play party politics with constitutional matters, conservatives can't claim any high ground. My post made that very clear to anyone with basic reading comprehension skills.
Earth to Classic Liberal, come in please....come in
Hello....are you there ? You must be way out in space, haven't you heard, Bush is no longer President. The only "cult-of-personality" that surrounds anyone now-a-days is the Old Media that surrounds the BHOle personna.
And Bush isn't appering in ANY Court (on Earth) and faces ZERO legal charges....none, NADA, NIL. Where the heck do you get your Information from ? Was Eric Holder your lawyer at one time ? Naw, Eric mostly joins in defense of Terrorists, and help defends thems as often as he can, he wouldn't have time for you, unless you blow up things.
You must be a useful Idiot of the Far left Fringe that sold you a bill of goods to vote for the Liar in chief.......you know, the liar that talked about the health Care bill reducing Insurance payments by 3000%, the Health care bill helping out the earthquake victims in Hawaii (thats just two Quotes from this week).
You keep listening to the "O", light those candles at the Alter of Barrack, burn that incense......don't forget to send off your NY Times Subscription, they need the money....desperately.
Hey 4speed
Maybe you'd like to regale us with some more of your keen insights into Thomas Jefferson? Or maybe you should just stick to commenting on subjects about which you actually know something, which would spare NextRight of your presence entirely.
More Thomas Jefferson for Classic liberal
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. "Thomas Jefferson
Unbelievable
Actually, that's just another phony Jefferson quote, the third or fourth you've posted. This one at least has the advantage of being an apparent mangling of something Jefferson actually did write, though the mangling totally changes the meaning. In an 1802 letter to Thomas Cooper, then-President Jefferson trashes the Federalist approach to fiscal policy, comparing it unfavorably to that of his own party, and writes
"The good effects of our late fiscal arrangements will certainly tend to unite them in opinion, and in a confidence as to the views of their public functionaries, legislative & executive. The path we have to pursue is so quiet that we have nothing scarcely to propose to our Legislature. A noiseless course, not meddling with the affairs of others, unattractive of notice, is a mark that society is going on in happiness. If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretence of taking care of them, they must become happy."
I warned you before to try to gain some undertanding of Jefferson, instead of just snatching up random quotations from right-wing sites specializing in phony ones and administered by people with no more understanding of Jefferson than you, and here you are, doing it again, like some semi-literate half-wit masochist.
If you're going to make a pretense of understanding Jefferson, READ JEFFERSON! There are people out there who DO, and they WILL make a fool of you, just as I've done three or four times, now.
Hooray....Classic took the Bait on an incorrect Quote
Obama, Quoting Lincoln.....Incorrectly......So what is YOUR reaction to Obama and HIS incorrect quote Below.... (I'm presidential material ?) (Unbelievable?)
Obama: Bound to be Fake (Idjit in Chief uses fake Lincoln quote)

Posted on Sunday, March 21, 2010 7:50:19 AM Obama: in his latest speech......
I have the great pleasure of having a really nice library at the White House. And I was tooling through some of the writings of some previous Presidents and I came upon this quote by Abraham Lincoln: “I am not bound to win, but I’m bound to be true. I’m not bound to succeed, but I’m bound to live up to what light I have.”
That wasn't "bait"
It was just your third or fourth phony Jefferson quotation. And no, you aren't fooling anyone.
As for Obama, I'm sure he'll correct the record, if anyone points it out to him. Reagan also used a phony Lincoln quotation, and right-wing congressmen have filled the congressional record with phony founder quotations for years. Even a lot of liberal bloggers have fallen for a phony Lincoln quotation having to do with enthroning moneyed interests that could destroy the republic. Using second-hand quotations to understand an historical figure is a damnable practice, and circulating phony ones particularly damable (and, unlike with the present Lincoln non-quote, they usually don't even sound like the historical figure in question, but you have to know something of that figure to know that).
You should be so Lucky
Hey, how about you Give us the Public Record of Bush's Illegal acts ? you know, Court dates, Location, who the AG was that Took Bush to Court, who were the lawyers that defended Bush, the court rullings, the sentence.........etc...
By the Way, One more LIE for you by Obama -"I will close Gitmo within a Year"
There is an endless supply of lies and gaffs from "O"....meanwhile, here is the only thing I could find on "Impeachment"
