Sports Mogul sacks taxpayers, intercepts stimulus $$$$

Carolina Panther quarterback ...

The owner of the NFL New England Patriots, Bob Kraft, has persuaded the Deval Patrick administration to spend $ 9 million of federal stimulus money to build a footbridge between parking lots at Foxboro's Gillette Stadium.

I simply cannot believe that this is the most pressing use of money to jumpstart the Commonwealth's economy, but then again, Bob Kraft did max out for the Patrick campaign. So, I'm sure this became far more important to the Massachusetts economy than say, fixing bottlenecked ramps off I-290.

Of course, Kraft is happy to cajole public favors, like his use of Hartford as a bargaining chip to get MA state funds to build roads into Gillette Stadium in the first place. Sleaze

Something tells me this is NOT what the original "Patriots" fought the Revolution over

It wasn't "Give me corporate welfare, or give me death!"

Oh, Ironman

We all know that if this was for an improvement to Yankee Stadium you'd be all for it.

Or if it was a Palinesque "footbridge to nowhere", you'd be OK with that, to.

"Foxborough town officials support the project" - but what does that mean to you, who demonstrated in your Hoffmania that you consider local issues to be parochial and arcane.

If the locals think this is important, they can pony up

That is what happened with Yankee Stadium. Mind you, you assume I was in favor of the new park. Actually, dunno what was the matter with the old park, since I will neither sit in a luxury box nor profit from them.. Then again, you are the leader of  "arguments lacking evidence".

Taxpayers in Watertown

are "local" to the Bronx?

thinking local

Then again, you are the leader of  "arguments lacking evidence".

But who can beat you, the humble leader of  "simple(but false) arguments."

Taxpayers in Watertown are "local" to the Bronx?

Ironman might personally know many locals in Watertown and Bronx; they are virtually indistinguishable, actually that makes him as much a "local" and a local expert in baseball universe. I mean anything is plausible in Ironyman's world.
