Where is the McCain team going with Ayers?
In thinking about the the resurgence of the Ayers issue in recent days, I was reminded of a great moment in cinena. I remember A Few Good Men when Tom Cruise is badgering Jack Nicholson over whether the deceased Marine called home. Colonel Jessup dismissively asked "you are defending two Marines here and their fate rests in a phone bill, or a foot locker. Please tell me Lt. Kaffee, that you have a better defense than that"
There has to be more to the Ayers issue than some anal cavity who blew stuff up a generation ago.
I think where this is going is the Mac Team has some high wattage stuff on the personal relationship between these men that they believe will knock Obama for a loop on the candor issue.
Now this is just a wild guess, but we know the following:
a) Obama admitted to using cocaine as a youth
b) Obama has released only a one page summary of medical records.
We do not know whether William Ayers has a recreational drug affinity and if it continues to this day.
Obviously, any hard evidence of contemporary drug use would be a very bad day for the Obama campaign.
I have no idea what the missing piece to this puzzle is, but I sure hope the McCain camp has the ability to fill it in. Otherwise, we are left at the phone bill and foot locker level of charges against Obama, and it's unlikely he'll melt down at the last debate over this stuff.

Here's a question I have
Obama and Ayers served on the non-profit educational charity board, the Annenberg Challenge, funded by Reagan friend and backer, the late Walter Annenberg. Annenberg's widow has endorsed McCain. Should I be worried about McCain's lack of candor in how his supporters also apparently supported domestic terrorism?
Foundations are funded by conservatives, run by leftists
Examples: Ford, Pew, Rockefeller, et al.
My advice to plutocrats. Let the estate tax get your money. At least there's some possibility a Republican might decide where it gets spent.
Laying The Groundwork
It does seem as if McCain is setting up the stage for something bigger. I do think the Ayers stuff is effective, and I know the Obama campaign is scared of it. Imagine if McCain had a close relationship with Timothy McVeigh.
I don't think the McCain campaign, however, should completely rely on Ayers to win this race. The Ayers stuff will eat away at Obama's character and credibility, but I don't see it propelling McCain into the White House, unless the McCain campaign has something absolutely nuclear to drop.
Rev. Wright And Trinity More Potent
I really think Rev. Wright and Trinity aren't being fully exploited.
I don't care how bad things are economically, middle america will not elect a radical Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson-type figure to the White House. Reagan Democrats will split their ticket, and vote McCain, especially in states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan.
I hope the 527's will bring it up again and remind voters who they're about to elect. Maybe some additional footage of Trinity and Obama in the pew will sway undecided voters.
