Gov. Palin VS Obama's Short List

Sarah Palin was a Mayor and then Governor of Alaska. This is widely criticized by the Leftosphere and Democrats as insufficient experience.
Tim Kaine - who "rank[ed] very, very high on the short list" for Barack Obama was also...a mayor and Governor of Virginia for less than a full term. The only things that distinguish Tim Kaine from Sarah Palin are...
- Tim Kaine also served one term as Lt. Gov.
- Tim Kaine is far less popular in Virginia (56% approval) than Gov. Palin is in Alaska (80% approval)
- Gov. Palin took steps to clean up her own Party; Gov. Kaine's biggest reform appears to have been embarrassing the Raising Kaine blog into dropping the "Kaine" from its name.
Barack Obama was very close to putting Gov. Kaine on his ticket. But today Obama and Carville are saying that being a Mayor and Governor is insufficient?
That's what opportunism looks like.

those aren't the only differences
In fairness to Kaine, it should be noted that [Richmond / Virginia]'s population dwarfs that of [Wasilla / Alaska]. On the flip side, governing a geographically huge state poses challenges of its own. As a tie-breaker, I'll bet Palin knows which states do and don't border Alaska, which is more than I can say for Kaine and his favorite border state, Delaware.
Yea, just to keep the stats
Yea, just to keep the stats right, Kaine's approval rating means that 4,280,000 citizens approve of the job he's done.
Palin's approval rating of 83% among 600,000 Alaskans means 480,000 citizens approve.
Pretty staggering, by a factor of 10. Just to be fair.
what?
That makes no sense whatsoever. Do you understand what an approval rating is and what percentages mean?
by those measures
Grey Davis the day he was voted out might have been the most popular Governor in America.
Please tell me you are not an accountant
Well...
In that case, you should see how popular President Bush is. 20% of 300 million people is 60 million. He must be way more popular than Kaine!
another major difference
And, you know, the fact that Obama didn't actually pick Kaine ...
Wait, now - that would be the same Carville
who said during Denver, "Well if this party has a message it has done a hell of a job of hiding it tonight I promise you that" and "I look at this and I am about to jump out of my chair...There's no message coming out of here, there is no sense that the party has a sense of urgency, and we've only got four nights this is 25% of the whole thing."
Hmmm....maybe I'm inspired by WaPo's analogy of Palin to Caligula's Horse today, but I think the Clintons ensured that the Democratic Convention pretty much fiddled while Rome burned, as Carville said. Obviously Carville's on the payroll just like good old Bob Beckel, who admitted how much he admired Palin until someone kicked him under the table last Friday. Let's face it - these ol' boys have gotta say something.
This argument goes both ways
The comparison between Kaine & Palin is an interesting one. Let us recall some facts...
Before McCain picked Palin, the GOP were laughing (see race42008.com) at Kaine because of his lack of experience. Common comments were "please Obama pick Kaine" and "can you imagine McCain/Romney vs Obama/Kaine?"
Perhaps as a result of Kaine's inexperience, Obama didn't pick him.
Now McCain has picked Palin, and the GOP justify it by saying that 'she's almost as experienced as someone that Obama almost picked' ? That argument doesn't work.
Well in all fairness
these were obviously Romneybots who were pushing hard for McCain to pick the one term Mass guv. You remember, he could not run for a second term because he would loose but somehow he would bring MA and MI into play.
For the record I do believe Sarah Palin is as qualified to be VP as Tim Kaine, if not more so.
This argument does work
She has executive experience. Which Obama does not. Nor Biden.
A Governor does not have the luxury of voting "present"
The Short List
We have recently read an article about Obama knowing how to hypnotize and especially the masses. What do you think about it guys? Is this something that we should be concerned about or is it something that everyone can learn?
-Richard
I also heard he has a tail!
And he's from another planet! We should be worried about this also.
Analyze and decide for yourself
I've read Milton Erickson's book "My Voice Will Go With You" and studied Richard Bandler's techniques. Bandler is one of Erickson's proteges and the author of "Frogs Into Princes". I use NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) in my business process analysis because I often have clients who are extremely shy and/or reticent to reveal exactly how they perform their work since they perceive my role as that of the "efficiency expert" who's come to replace their job with a computer.
NLP is based on several things, so to try to keep it at a high level, I'll summarize:
Some people know how to make the time to read this article and watch this video. I embedded commands in that last phrase by overriding your conscious filter with two subconscious instructions. Believe it or not, it's up to you. In my line of work, it's made me far more successful than I would have been otherwise and it makes people who ordinarly fear and loathe my work actually enjoy the process. In the end, I actually don't replace the work people do with a computer (I make what they do on the computer more effective), so I feel ethical about my use of NLP to relax people and put them at ease. But that's not to say there aren't many unethical practices that can be done with this training.
Good question Richard, I
Good question Richard, I think knowing how to hypnotize someone is something that anyone can learn with enough practice. I mean sure, there's no doubt that Obama is hypnotizing people in his campaigns, but then again, don't most politicians use some form of deception? I think the minimal amount he does is warranted, given the circumstances.
Good point my friend. We can
Good point my friend. We can definitely try to learn hypnosis in order to be like Obama. (lol)
