Organizing Against WorldNetDaily

This is just hideously embarrassing for the Right.

[T]he Web site Worldnetdaily.com says that the government is considering Nazi-like concentration camps for dissidents. Jerome Corsi, the author of "The Obama Nation," an anti-Obama book, says that a proposal in Congress "appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany."

In the 1960's, William F. Buckley denounced the John Birch Society leadership for being "so far removed from common sense" and later said "We cannot allow the emblem of irresponsibility to attach to the conservative banner."

The Birthers are the Birchers of our time, and WorldNetDaily is their pamphlet.  The Right has mostly ignored these embarrassing people and organizations, but some people and organizations inexplicably choose to support WND through advertising and email list rental or other collaboration.  For instance, I have been told that F.I.R.E (The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education) - an otherwise respectable group that does important work - uses the WND email list.  They should stop. [SEE UPDATE II]

No respectable organization should support the kind of fringe idiocy that WND peddles.  Those who do are not respectable.

I think it's time to find out what conservative/libertarian organizations support WND through advertising, list rental or other commercial collaboration (email me if you know of any), and boycott any of those organizations that will not renounce any further support for WorldNetDaily.

UPDATE

I have inquired with F.I.R.E., but they have not responded to my email.  I will attempt to get an answer from them again.  If you know or can contact somebody with F.I.R.E, please let me know what you hear.

I have also inquired with the RNC, which appears to have recently paid for access to the WorldNetDaily email list.  I have not gotten a substantive response from the RNC yet.

In the meantime, I would encourage you to (a) email me with any substantive information you have on what other right-of-center groups advertise on, or rent email lists from, WorldNetDaily, and (b) email or call to let these groups know that Republican, conservative or libertarian groups should not support Birther/Concentration Camp conspiracy theories.

UPDATE II

I tried to contact F.I.R.E. yesterday before publishing this and I tried again today, but never received a response.  However, David Mastio, Senior Editor for Online Opinion and Innovation at the Washington Times, emails to tell me the response he got from F.I.R.E.

I called Fire and talked to the Veep Robert Shibley.

According to him, Fire rented a list from WND through a third party broker on one occasion (SOP for list rental) and does not have any continuing relationship or plans to rent from them again. He says that they were not aware of any loopy views espoused by WND as they didn't see a need to investigate before they rented the list.

I think that is a reasonable and satisfactory explanation from F.I.R.E.

How did "grandma register him"?

simply not possible. And why would she do it? He was a citizen by virture of his mother.

Honolulu AdvertiserTuesday, July 28, 2009In November 2008, The Advertiser reported that the first published mention of the future president appeared in a Sunday Advertiser birth announcement that ran on Aug. 13, 1961:"Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6085 Kalanianaole Hwy., son, Aug. 4."The identical announce- ment ran the following day in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.Birthers wave off those birth announcements, saying that Obama family members 48 years ago could have phoned in false information to both newspapers.Such vital statistics, however, were not sent to the newspapers by the general public but by the Health Department, which received the information directly from hospitals, Okubo said.

No means, no motive to plant the birth announcements in two newspapers.

this is so crazy to believe.

this is so crazy to believe. why do people keep trying to question obama for everything. He is a good person.

orlando invisalign dentist

Well, duh, yer right .. why didn't I think of that .. silly me

So let's see ... Obama has alleged he is a natural born citizen, as he must have to qualify for candidate status on the Democratic presidential ticket.  Therefore, per your logic (flawless, I dare say) he does bear the burden of proving his assertion, especially where there is a serious dispute as to one or more material facts.

As for a document that is acceptable in Hawaii for some purposes, it is a stretch to imply that it is valid for any and all purposes, including assuming the role of US President, nuclear football and all.

Furthermore, while short form birth certificates do enjoy a general presumption of sufficiency, that presumption is obviously rebuttable because there are numerous purposes for which the long form is required.  Just ask John McCain.   Something to do with proving he was a Natural Born Citizen or something.

Furthermore, as an Illinoisan, I can tell you that relying on state party hacks for objective information on politically sensitive issues is naive at best and gut-wrenchingly stupid at worst.  That's why there's things like FOIA.  My work here has allowed me to see up close and in person the underbelly of that beast, and it ain't pretty.  No, I do not trust partisan drones to pat me on the head and tell me everything is OK.  Sorry.

Furthermore, if there's no big deal secret in the long form information, why did the Obama defense in the Berg case cite the potential for serious embarrassment if the long form were released?  Ah, you haven't heard that, have you.  Time to climb out of your box and experience the larger, more confusing world of raw data.

My own position?  I am agnostic on the issue.  Maybe Hawaii, maybe not.  Maybe it doesn't matter.  Maybe it does.  Natural Born Citizen status is a complex legal conclusion and the Hawaiian record custodians are not the right people to look to for the answer.  I’m thinking SCOTUS might be more credible. Obama has bluffed his way into office without offering sufficient proof he is constitutionally qualified.  It's time for him to put up or get out.

Thanks.  I needed that. :)

not proof

birth announcement only shows that someone registered his birth or that the hospital did-- some people are saying his grand parents did it for the mother (a way to cheat the system in 1961)who may have been out of the country---  proof would be on the long form-if a hospital is listed and dr.- paper trail would prove he born in HI otherwise no hospital proves relative lied to get obama citizenship.

this is a legitimate investigation in all public officials - not required but done but not with obama

also- the bc online has never been authenticated by HI

but again who cares? most important is that he is a dual citizen and not a natural born  citizen

"Some people" are also saying he is a Cylon

but I don't listen to them either.

What was the motive for planting the announcement? How do you "cheat the system" with a birth announcements? and who had the means to get the information into the Hawaii Vital Statistics records that were then handed over the newspapers to print?

There is none. You can't. No one.

kidding right?

motive? citizenship!!! means ? at the time could be called in or sworn to in person- not hard

His mother was a citizen

so therefore he was a citizen and so none of this was necessary. And the data went from hospital to state to newspaper.

Times' Pulitzer Prize winning Web site PoliticFact.com on July 1. "In order to phony those notices up, it would have required the complicity of the state Health Department and two independent newspapers — on the off chance this unnamed child might want to one day be president of the United States."

No motive, no means.

chance to be a citizen!

no complicity involved just a grandma strolling down to city hall and lieing by reporting obama birth then health dept sent to newspapers with all the rest . simple

How does anyone just stroll

up to a atate Health Department and register a birth without any documentation?

And he didn't need a 'chance to be a citizen' - he already was on by virtue of his mother.

No motive, no means to plant the announcements.

read the rest before you

read the rest before you post-

he did need a chance to become a citizen if not born in a hospital-

and at that time all you had to do was to swear to it- for baby under one

and if not born in HI  - no not a citizen by virtue of mom

doesn't matter -  He is a dual citizen not a natural born citizen

BS

You truly are nuts. Why would being born in Hawaii but not in a hospital have any impact on whether or not he is a citizen? How would anyone stroll into the Department of Health and get a birth inserted into the Vital Statistics for that week without offering any proof? And why would anyone do it when the child was already a US citizen by virtue of his mother? The only instance where the "natural born" distinction matters is in the case of running for president - are you saying his granny, living in pre-civil rights America, had that much clairvoyance? What rubbish.

answers to bs with out bs and misleading questions

Q. Why would being born in Hawaii but not in a hospital have any impact on whether or not he is a citizen?

it would make valid the claim that grandma registered the birth--- and that Obama lied! said he was born in hospital(actual  2 hospitals are mentioned)

Q. How would anyone stroll into the Department of Health and get a birth inserted into the Vital Statistics for that week without offering any proof?

They could back then -  also I am sure thats why that address was used. grandma was the one who swore to the truth of birth.

Q. And why would anyone do it when the child was already a US citizen by virtue of his mother?

The only reason to do it is if obama not born in usa. would someone living in pre-civil rights America where the father is foreigner from a country where citiship follows the father and baby not born in usa, feel afraid that the baby might not be a citizen? I think so!

Q.The only instance where the "natural born" distinction matters is in the case of running for president - are you saying his granny, living in pre-civil rights America, had that much clairvoyance?

No, no need for clairvoyance. Just a loving grandma concerned about grandsonand making sure he had the best citizenship on the planet

Also glad that you admit there is such a distinction!

We need a crack down on thought!

There's too much thinkin' going on out there.  We need to join our politically correct brothern and punish anyone who speaks or writes incorrect thoughts!

This is embarassing when people are out there just saying what they want to say!  Especially when I don't agree with them and I am better than them, too!  I am better because I neither think nor say anything the mainstream media would call stupid or extreme!  That makes me a superior moderate and I hate people who are immoderate!

The Republican Party would be much better off if they would kick out anyone who does not agree with me!  Before you know it, I will be the majority and take back the Congress!!!!

A birther calling people anti-thought

Now I've seen it all.

Right On WND

So sorry you don't have the intelligence or courage to stand with them, and us.
