Obama Adapts McCain Platform
As a staunch McCain supporter I'm over the defeat; that is except when the Obama administration attempts to use parts of the McCain platform that they previously criticized. When the Obama administration followed the McCain plan in their Iraq and Afghanistan I was relieved. They weren't as reckless as their campaign statements made them appear. Also, I have to give them a gamesmanship points (even if they lose honesty points) for completely sticking it to the far left without making them angry. Yet the annoyance started when Obama used the McCain rhetoric about the economy without including all that pesky fiscal discipline. The statements post stimulus about strong economic fundamentals were practically verbatim what Senator McCain said during the election. Now health care is on the table and so is taxing employer based health insurance. Remember Obama campaign ads revolved around the idea that this was a terrible plan for Senator McCain to propose. Now it apparently is not such a bad idea. What makes it worse is that in the McCain plan there was a $5000 tax credit that would have off-set the tax. There will be no tax credit with the Democrat's plan, so any tax assessed is coming right out of your pocket. I'll get over the annoyance, but if the Obama administration keeps adapting McCain ideas the least they could do is adopt his fiscal discipline (and math skills) too.

McCain's math skills were abominable
all the papers were calling out his budget because of them.
come back to reality, mmmk?
All the Papers were in the tank
If you look at his record, it's stellar on fiscal dicipline. NYT may have missed that.
record does not equal budget specs.
if he can't do math to be president, if his budget and more importantly his speeches, overpromise, than I don't want him as president.
I respect his ability to shout STOP at the world...
Corporate dems and the republican party agree on some things
He's running into problems because the most benign tax increases get shot down repeatedly.
He didn't relize that the corporate Dems in the party believe in a lot of the same things that republicans do.
No go on the most benign tax increases of the rich in order to raise revenue. But corporate dems and republicans love taxing or burdening the middle class, that's why taxing healthcare benefits is back on the table. Obama doesn't want to do it.
As long as corporate dems and repubs are in agreement on passing further exemptions for the estate tax, while rushing to tax healthcare benefits, he has no choice.
tester's in on estate tax exemptions.
and he's no corporatist. if he's leading that fight, don't fear. the farmers will get what they need, and the really rich won't profit. much.
Obama, A False Prophet???

Actor Jon Voight, Angelina Jolie's father, has become rather active in Republican causes. Jon Voight has gone ahead and jumped right into the deep end of the pool of insanity. At a recent GOP fundraiser, at which Jon Voight was a keynote speaker, he went on a tirade wherein he denounced President Obama as a false prophet, and that he was ruining this country amongst other things. The fundraiser, which is held annually, has seen a drop in revenue over the last few years, even though the other speaker was Newt Gingrich – perhaps the Republicans need a fast loan. Sarah Palin had been rumored to make an appearance, but she declined, and it sounds like it was the right idea, with fewer giving an online loan and Jon Voight babbling on ad absurdum.
