Brisenia Flores. a nine year old. killed in her own home, after both her parents were shot. By thugs.

I know, it's no longer "fashionable" to be racist. Now you join a "militia" or an "anti-immigrant" or "doctor-murdering" group.

I hate having to write this... I'm far from the first person to be for gun control.

But if the Right can't be responsible enough to stop people from hunting blacks or illegal aliens...

the worst part? You can't even say that if the flores folks had had guns, they could have adequately defended themselves.

I'm all for self-defense. but a gun is not a good defense.

That's not an argument for gun control, mate; it's an argument against fascism. These killings weren't carried out by people with mental health issues--they were a product of the right's ongoing efforts to exploit racist sentiment by dogging the illegal immigrant "issue." They were political killings. The state's case is that the murderers hoped to kill illegal immigrants connected to the drug trade and rob them to finance the operations of a Minuteman group the ringleader heads (except, being dumbass reactionaries, they picked a family with no connection to anything).

In a sane society, something like this would prompt responsible conservatives to pause and back off the immigrant-bashing--if they merely stopped lying about it, they'd have nothing further to say. In this one, nothing of the sort will happen, and the press will bury the story (as, in fact, it has, and does in every case of right-wing political violence not committed by Arabs).

Quite the spin to call these political killings.

Brings to mind the Rodney King riots. A self-styled radical neighbor lectured us that the riots were about the masses revolting against an unjust system.

I don't know. I suspect the guy stealing a TV just wanted a new TV.

Uhhh, this is a little incoherent, besides, its against the laws of the land, the Constitution, and the 2nd amendment.  

I guess the next Traffic accident Knackers sees, he's gonna wanna outlaw the Automobile.

We have not seen a crime epidemic

Gun controls laws have gotten looser over the past decade but we have not seen a crime epidemic.

In other words, for every crime made possible by more guns, there must be more crimes prevented by more guns.

Besides, when we look at the historical record of eras when only governments had guns (1350--1650), we see it was a period of intolerance and authoritarianism all across Eurasia.

There were centralized absolute governments in Russia, Turkey, India, China, and Japan. There was no such takover in Europe but there was absolute monarchies everywhere and the Hapsburgs nearly took over everything. As a result of this. there was the expulsion of Jews from western Europe, the Mogul persecution of the Sikhs, and the Japanese persecution of the Christians. The era 1350--1650 was a terrible period for any dissenting group.

Criminals sometimes use weapons

I know from being in upstate New York years ago that beating deaths are much more common in Canada.  Up there, whenever you hear on the news that someone got beaten to death, it's likely to be a Canadian as the culprit.

The issue isn't one of whether people will have access to weapons or not.  They will.  They always will.

The issue is one of behaviors.  It's not acceptable for people to use weapons to forward acts of aggression against other persons.

No surprise that the Left sees no personal responsibility.  It's sort of what they're famous for.  Instead of going after the people that did this, let's go after the tools that they used.

I would recommend Choice Theory by Bill Glasser.
