Multiculturism a Factor Turning Moderate Muslims Radical?
William Federer highlights unintended consequence of over tolerating Islam
By Willam J. Federer
March 6, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Britain's Daily Mail, Jan. 29, 2007, reported in the article "Multiculturalism drives young Muslims to shun British values":
Multiculturalism has alienated an entire generation of young Muslims and made them increasingly radical, a report has found. In stark contrast with their parents, growing numbers sympathize with extreme teachings of Islam, with almost four in 10 wanting to live under Sharia law in Britain. The study identifies significant support for wearing the veil in public … and even punishment by death for Muslims who convert to another religion. Most alarmingly, 13 percent of young Muslims said they "admired" organizations such as al-Qaida which are prepared to "fight the West."
Germany's Spiegel, Dec. 20, 2007, reported in the article "Interior Ministry warns of radicalization of Muslims":
A new study released by Germany's Interior Ministry has added new fuel to the debate about integration of Muslims in Germany, with the report warning about the danger of radicalization of Muslims. According to the study ... 40 percent of Muslims surveyed had a "fundamentalist orientation" ... 6 percent of those surveyed were classified as having "violent tendencies," while 14 percent of respondents had "anti-democratic" tendencies. ... The report also concluded that religious beliefs are becoming increasingly important for young people.
Europe is wondering why fundamental Islam is not assimilating, - history may reveal the reason.
The word "Islam" means submission to the will of Allah, and a "Muslim" is someone who has submitted. A "dhimmi" is an inferior non-Muslim coerced to submit.

Islam is uniquely positioned to take advantage of democracy
So said Andrew McCarthy in his interview with Hugh Hewitt this week while discussing McCarthy's new book, "Willful Blindness" about the prosecution of the Blind Sheik after the first WTC bombing. The gist of McCarthy's discussion centered around the fact that treating violent Jihad as a law enforcement issue was extremely dangerous and ineffective before 9/11, and our recent Supreme Court ruling indicates that once again we've become complacent and are about to repeat the same errors within living history of those who experienced both the 1993 WTC bombing and 9/11. He also said that neocons notwithstanding, democratizing the Middle East in the manner of the West may not be the answer to radical Islam either - reminding us that the 9/11, Spain and London terrorists were all able to execute their coordination, planning and acts of terror in the democratic Western countries of Germany, Spain, Great Britain and the U.S.
McCarthy said that Muslim terrorists have been playing our democratic legal system for years. Willful Blindness, along with The Looming Tower, are two must-reads for anyone interested in learning how not to repeat the terrible mistakes of the 80's and 90's (I wish we could get copies to Justice Kennedy and Barack Obama, for starters). Perhaps I should include the 70's, 80's, and 90's - starting with Munich, which in my mind is where this terror war we're now involved in really kicked off (although I suppose I could take its origin back to 1948 just as accurately).
An excellent book to explain topics such as how the great influx of immigration to the West was launched (by Western Europeans), and the Dar Al-Harb (Domain of Disbelief/house of War) vs. Dar Al-Islam (house of Peace) and all its attendant cultural and political history and implications in modern times is Eurabia, by Bat Ye Or. My understanding of Dhimmi (People of the Pact) is that they are offered a form of protection, whereas Harbi (People who do not live under Muslim rule) are not protected and are permitted to be killed. To paraphrase Churchill, we're not even at the end of the beginning of this business. And I completely agree that the total lack of assimilation is a very significant contributor to the ongoing Dar Al-Harb.
I remember reports as long as 7 years ago on Fox News that Muslim neighborhoods in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Holland and even Britain were completely off-limits to emergency responders and police because they would be met with such incredible violence from the unassimilated residents. It's a real tragedy because learning the language and engaging with their neighbors would have opened up so much opportunity, education, upward mobility and prosperity to these people. Any time a way of life fosters isolation, poverty, unemployment, high birth rates, few accompanying skills, oppression, and violence in the name of identity, it's heartbreaking for the harm it does to its adherents in addition to being dangerous to the host society. And do we have any parallels here in the U.S.? I'll leave that for the reader to decide.
