Post moretm on a dead blog.

This blog is dead now.  It gets maybe two comments per day.  Presumably, Ruffini doesn't take it down because that would make him change

In 2008, he co-founded The Next Right, a forum for rising young leaders on the right shaping the future of the conservative movement.

He attempted to establish a forum for new ideas, but found that there were none.  This led him to embrace the teaparty movement as the last best hope for the Republican Party.

Look on the left.  TPM, Yglesias, Ezra Klein, ... , all host serious calm discussion.  Klein will tell you the various flavors of public option together with the CBO analysis of their relative merits.  You can't find anything like that on the right.

I think the site -- and the idea of a forward looking reality based problem solving Republican party -- failed because it could not face reality.  Successful Republican sites like RedState and MichelleMalkin thrive mainly on lies and anger.  But there's the paradox, you can't be thoughtful/creative and red faced angry at the same time.

Trolls

That's why this site is dying.

Progressive / Statist trolls who have hijacked the comments sections (and are now posting blogs) and an admin who won't get rid of them.

Web 2.0 works online

If you look at the spam posts, they are targeted.

The trolls are not accomplishing their goal. The site is being build up by them bringing in more traffic as a result. Conservative posts are being written in a formal mode which helps to make them more persuasive.

It is naive of them to think the site will close. Pat is one of the top 100 on twitter #tcot. It would be interesting how he implements a solution to these trolls. I would suggest a follow mechanism which is what allowed twitter to work as a platform for tcot. Pat knew this before I ever thought of it.

What you suggest is that contemporary conservatism is so fragile a thing that it can only thrive--indeed, only exist--in a sealed, self-reinforcing bubble, maintained by fascist overseers, wherein like-minded idiots can sit around and tell the same comforting lies to one another all day long, free from challenge or the pesky intrusions of reality. I certainly hope your vision of contemporary conservatism is incorrect. The U.S. needs a credible opposition faction. The one you've just suggested ain't it.

That is not what "I suggest"...

... I'm stating a simple truth regarding this particular site.

You have a nasty habit of erecting strawmen to knock down.  But they're just strawmen.
