Citizens for McCain

The news out of the McCain camp today...the launching of a new organization specifically to encourage non-partisan support for McCain. The group is to be chaired by...who else...Senator Joe Lieberman.

So, "our" man McCain continues to cozy up to the left and now Clinton supporters in particular. Is there any love for the right? Since when did conservative voters become chopped liver? I had originally thought McCain would go with a conservative (or at least a faux conservative) VP, but now I'm wondering if he's not just going to go middle-of-the-road all the way and hope to score the win with help from Hillary's fans.

Hillary for McCain's VP?

OMG Lisa, last night my hubby and I were watching Fox when we stopped, looked right at each other, and both had exactly the same thought - would McCain go so far as to offer Hillary a VP slot???  I would say I'm j/k, but honestly - who knows?

So I'll let you ponder that for a moment.  Then, just for fun, let's say - worst case scenario - he's really a Democratic registered as a Republican.  JFK would be a Republican in today's political climate so on the bright side, if McCain is a Democrat, then at least we could say he's a Reagan Democrat

Seriously, you've got to read Thomas Sowell's column on Real Clear Politics today.  Sowell completely understands all of your very legitimate objections, but when it comes to Iran, he nails it - and he's a real, true conservative - not a poseur like me.  My husband said I should change my s/n to GOP_Rabble.  Heh.

He won't do that..

And Hillary wouldn't accept, she loves whatever is left of her dem legacy too much.

He's right to harvest crossover votes before they calm down. He'll only win with massive defections...even if every single conservative in America came out to vote.

We've split the popular vote 50 50 these last few go rounds.. at the rate dems are turning out, if he doesn't poach, he's history.

poach...

that's funny!

McCain

Usually it's the comments who are trolling, this blogpost has changed that equation.

Mc Cain is asking for NON-PARTISAN support, not left-wing support.  Not all conservatives are Republicans, I shouldn't be telling people that at this point.  While Dean is pursuing 50-state strategy, McCain is wise to pursue a ONE-NATION approach.  He looks like he's heading the right path.

I honestly don't think I've

I honestly don't think I've ever in my life been called a troll.

I would have believed that Citizens for McCain were neutral non-partisan (as stated) if it weren't for the facts that; 1. It's being chaired by a long-time Democrat (current Independent); and 2. the site specifically asks about Hillary supporters and Democratic volunteer experience, but makes no mention of Huckabee, Romney, Paul, etc.; and 3. its debut coincided with Hillary's anticipated concession. If the group were as dedicated to uniting former Huck/Romney/Paul supporters as it is to bringing in cross-party support, it could have just as easily debuted as soon as McCain clinched his nomination.

While the group is ostensibly non-partisan, I think it's pretty clear what its focus is.

Agreed

Lisa, I don't think McCain is going to ask HIllary to be his VP. I think he'll go Republican but not for quite awhile. He'll probably wait and see where he is in the polls and who can help him most just before the convention.

I agree with you that McCain plans to win in the middle. He isn't going to throw any bones to conservatives, not even very small ones.  He knows our only real choices are to vote for him or stay home.

...

I apologize for the confusion. I never suggested he would ask Hillary to be a VP. That's absurd. I said I think he's trying to win over Hillary's fans, and he may take that into account when he chooses a VP.

I had just always assumed he'd choose someone on the right to try to reconcile himself with his own party, but after looking over that new site, I'm not so sure he has any intention of doing so.

LMFAO

heheheheh Dear God.....lol

The enemy of my enemy is my friend

In 1980 Ronald Reagan won MA over Jimmy Carter. It wasn;t because all the old time Irish Catholics had become advocates of supply side economics

Just a little GOP humor...really

Folks, look - I was sharing a moment of ironic GOP humor with Lisa, nobody here really believes that McCain will extend an invitation to Hillary Clinton to be his VP.  Well you don't, do you??

When I received a link to the Washington Post article plugging the site and the GOP Relationships diagram, I replied:

...perhaps it's best that I restrained myself from adding the following:

                                       South Park Republicans
"I hate Conservatives, but I REALLY F-ing hate Liberals!"
                                                     Anti-PC
                             Mock Meddling Left Wing Celebrities
Expose Blatant Cultural and Ideological Hypocrisy
                                        Archetype:  Eric Cartman

When my really smart colleague Sandor called me out for not knowing the thing it is which I call myself, he was spot-on - I have only the most superficial knowledge about neo-libertarianism, paleo-libertarianism, neo-paleo-conservatism, blah-blah conservatism, etc.  But when it comes to South Park conservatism, well - those are my peeps.  I should have added this group because it really does exist - just not so much on this site.  Yet.  Heh.

Footnote for Sandor - okay, so maybe I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but I did receive my copies of God and Man at Yale and The Conservative Mind From Burke to Eliot today.  As always, thanks for bludgeoning me into actually wanting to learn something.  And I use the term "bludgeon" affectionately.  ;-)

It seems that McCain is so

It seems that McCain is so eager that he didn't had the sympathy of people to support him. Well great that though he knows Obama will defeat him, he still fought for the position. Oh well – you can still get quick payday loans on Good Friday. 2009 will have Good Friday on April 10th, and oddly enough, the stock market closes on Good Friday.  It isn’t an official or state holiday in the United States, and you can get payday loans or mail on the day just like any other, but it has been an NYSE holiday, or New York Stock Exchange, since the dawn of the 20th century.

National Council for a New America

The NCNA in cooperation with the Republican Party is trying to address the issue of conservative values. The National Council for a New America, or NCNA. The National Council for a New America, or NCNA for short, is a think tank organization devoted to the Republican Party and Republican principles. Consensus is that it is a time for a reboot of conservative values, which heretofore meant getting Rush Limbaugh personal loans for another Vicodin script, but the aim is to arrive at a new place ideologically, by gathering conservatives together and finding out what the common goal among them is.  Some people, which are occasionally referred to as the educated, would rather read mortgage loan modification literature than listen to the National Council for a New America.
