Morons may ridicule cultural diversity, but does any sane person dispute the need for Arabic, Pashtun etc. language skills and cultural knowledge when fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan!

The key is to screen everybody for dangerous behavior and beliefs. Muslim servicemen hardly have a monopoly on irrational and dangerous behavior (see e.g. Timothy McVeigh, who also was anti-US government).
