PETA's Latest Slide Into Classless Behavior

Via Twitter today, I stumbled upon a link to PETA's blog.  If you're not inclined to click through, I totally get that, and don't worry, I'll save you the trouble and just include the punchline here:

That's right.  The organization's official blog is titled "The PETA Files" (pronounced "pedophiles", in case it's not obvious to some).

The same tactless folks at PETA that brought you the infamous "got prostate cancer?" ad are back in the business of hilarity with their "political wit".  Either that or nobody in their proofing process caught the fairly apparent allusion to child molestation.

I don't buy that it was an accident.  If it was, they need more people in their approval chain.  I'm more inclined to think someone thought it was funny.  As a friend commented to me via Facebook, it's "very instructive about their core beliefs. Vegan running shoes are important, while abused children are the fodder for humor."

Stay classy, PETA.

Yawn.  Another wingnut attempt to demonize PETA...

I think it's fair to say that PETA goes too far sometimes, but I like what they stand for.  There is no reason for most of the abuse animals face in our country or around the world.

I live in 'Amish Country'  (land of the 'puppy mills'), and I think PETA is right to point out the unnecessary suffering of animals. Also, I did not pick up on the Peta Files joke. I think they were going for an X-Files connotation. The X-Files was a Sci-Fi TV show that ran on FOX in  the 1990's. It's tagline was: THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE.

The people who pointed it out via Twitter.  Do you people even read things before reacting?

As I said, this was pointed out via another forum.  So the 'author must have a sick mind' schtick and your reply clearly demonstrate what I've always said about lefties - you react from ignorance.

Thanks for proving my point.  Next time take time to think and digest the post before your knee-jerk liberalism takes hold.

Of all the things happening in our world today, MichaelTurk, this is what you choose to let bother you? There are plenty of fanatics out there who do nothing to enhance our world, or raise awareness to serious problems so what's your problem with PETA dude?

People who work with or support PETA can be fanatical sure, but why really do you care if they draw a similarity to child abuse if that's really what that tagline was supposed to convey? Isn't that what they do? Raise awareness about animal abuse? See the correlation here to the tagline now...
