Obama -Chavez

Wy is it liberals since the early days of Stalin and later Castro then Ortega always approve of socialist tyrants ,until it becomes an untenable position.,yet they oppose all rightwing dictators? Don't they realize they are obverse side of the same coin ...there is no difference between a .Somoza and a Chavez except the labels. Yet Obama treats Chavez with deferance.

Why is it...

that you consider shaking some one's hand as any more than a common civility? It is not deference which means submission. No doubt the handshake did not make Chavez forget that the US President has the power to send UAVs with a laser-guided Hawkeyes any where in the world he wants to and one day he could just be 'poofed' getting out of his limo by a rocket he didn't hear or see coming.

a) If you know anything about diplomacy (or business relations), the smart thing to do is be seen as proactive which speaks to control. Hence Obama's going over to shake hands was smart tactically as it denied Chavez taking the glory for initiating contact.

b) you may not know this (because all the US press reports is what a monster Chavez is) but all over S America, Chavez is far more popular than George Bush is in N America. He is a rock star to millions so ignoring him makes no sense and only hands him a victory with the people by allowing him to say S Americans are being disrespected.

Engaging the US's problems both at home and abroad seems to be the current President's MO - while the last one swept most every( domestic and international) economic, defense, immigration, finance and social problem under the rug for the next guy.

The handshake of a U.S President

gives credibility to the hand being shaken.

Chavez is a dictator thug, regardless of what you may  perceive as a "rock star" in South America. I can assure you he is not a "rock star" in his own country.

If the U.S. locks up a terrorist in a box with a catepillar, the left goes nuts. If a South American dictator locks up the opposition, shuts down the opposition press, and kills off overt dissenters, he is a hero. He is your hero.

But, in the mind of the left wing thinker, that's OK for "those people" eh RHOmea ? They're just peasants anyway, aren't they? Right?

If you hate Chavez so much . . .

Organize a protest of Obama's action in a form of civil disobedience. March! Get arrested! Do something!

I've realized the inherent problem with the Right. You guys are all talk, no action. The largest single protest you guys could muster against Obama and no body could be bothered to actually put their ass on the line for your idea.

You may hate the "Loony Left", but at the core of even the most sane Lefty is the believe that sometimes you gotta get arrested for what you believe in.

Even assuming for the sake of argument that every thing the Right believes about Barack HUSSEIN Obama is true, the whole Commie, Fascist, Hitler, Socialist thing. Assuming that is true, your side can't even muster a single sit-in, arrest, civil disruption in prostest against that? Not one? You guys are just gonna sit back and take it? Geez, how much do you love your country? You let a Socialist, Fascist, Commie take it over and didn't even lift a finger.

The fate of the US changed forever according to the Right and not a single rock was hurled through a single window in defense for America. I guess if Obama is Hitler that makes the Right abunch of very Good Germans.

As a raging Lefty, even I have to say c'mon guys, grab a pair and protest this guy like you mean it!

Gandhi, MLK, Mandela and Rush Limbaugh?

Doesn't  compute!

Nah

We'll just vote him out in four years.

Good luck with that.

Good luck with that.

This is just nonsense. Reminds me of the people who were upset that Obama would let people into the Oval Office who weren't wearing a suit and a tie.

The idea that there were thousands of Venezuelans sitting around yesterday saying "I really don't find Chavez 'credibile' " but now this morning they'll be changing their minds is absurd.

Lets see the list of all the foreign policy achievements obtained by the Bush administration by following this childlish line of thought.

Foreign policy you can believe in

You know, I can see why the right doesn't agree with Obama's foreign policy. Due to W.'s saber rattling, he achieved:

-Iran gave up it's nuclear program and stopped antagonizing  Israel.

-Chavez mended his ways and apologized for insulting W.

-The Russians didn't attack Georgia.

Oh wait! Those things never happened?

How do you look into a foreign leader's eyes and see his soul if you aren't willing to get close enough to shake his hand?
