Audio: Biden Calls Obama "Articulate" "Bright" and "Clean" African-American

This is the audio that is sure to come back to haunt Joe Biden in the coming days...

Here's some of what they were saying about this at the time (via James Joyner).

Kos:

Really, if we live in a just world, this will be the end of Joe Biden’s political career.

Atrios:

The are more and less charitable readings of what Biden said, but there’s no way to read it which doesn’t reflect very poorly on Biden.

Josh Marshall:

I think at this point you have to say that Biden suffers from what one might with real generosity call chronic racial grandpaism. That is to say, the penchant for making comments that are not only racially offensive but also extremely silly.

Will Mitt be the perfect running mate--lol

Patrick---pleazzzzz tell us who would be Obamas perfect running mate since you seem to be so all knowing and has such insight on everything political?

Lets get to your real problem, who will be McCain’s running mate? McCain is starting to show signs of early stage dementia with memory loss and confusion when he gets off script. (and those of you with aging parents that have seen this know what I mean)  Mitt will probably be his best choice as the economy teeters on the edge of a financial collapse. Of course when you combine two ultra wealthy running mates how do you keep telling the common people the other guy is an elitist?---lol--- That will be a trick we all want to see!

The Obama-Biden ticket will appeal to small businesses, right?

You reap what you sow...

McCain's VP pick is to be announced shortly and I bet there are choice sound bites to be harvested. I guess it's smoke'em if you got 'em, in the case of the Biden soundbites. Additionally, I am sure there is video of McCain singing the praises of Biden.

Orthogonally, McCain is starting to resemble the "get off my lawn" grouch he is being framed as by the left. Reverting to type seems to be what is unfolding in both the McCain campaign and it's boosters.

Race card up your sleeve?

Here is a rule of thumb for you Pat, compliments of my dear departed mother: "If you do not hav e anything nice or intelligent to say, keep your mouth shut!"...

Your whole post is about race, first implying racial insensitivity on Biden's part, second pointing out that Obama is African American.  It may buy you a couple of votes this time around,  but how many votes will you lose during the next round?

Patrick, please.

I really, really try to let this stuff slip by because I have a high opinion of you personally.

But I have to question whether you are letting your partisan impulse to ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK get ahead of what I know to be your keen understanding of the electoral process.

If HRC had been the choice, you'd be reposting an entire YouTube channel. I'm sure those on the left will have a great time if Sen. McCain chooses Mitt Romney as his runningmate.

But surely an operative as experienced as you understands that primaries are primaries, and once the nominee is picked, it's about the general. You're running Brett Favre clips to justify Aaron Rodgers.

Biden and Obama are on the same team. I fear your message is only directed to rally the most partisan of your own troops instead of being inclusive of others, something you'll need to do in order to create "The Next Right."

Cheers.

to me that Biden statement has more

potential to help rather than hurt Obama if it gets some play.  It justs show that the racial issue is so sensitive that nonracist people can occasionallly say things in a clumsy way that can be misconstrued.  None of us need be 100% politically correct in our comments.  I haven't seen  much in the way of sound bites useful for attacking  Biden, he must have  made  many senate votes that can be  used against him.

The creators of The Sopranos recently premiered their new drama on the CW Network. The new show portrays a family who owns and operates a “high-interest loan” business called Prestige Payday Loans; this show is appropriately named Easy Money. This is not the first time that a show has been themed based on an underrepresented subject matter. Sadly, this show, as well as many others, does not depict a fair and balanced portrayal of the industry. Judging from the trailers, it appears that the storylines will solely be founded on vicious media stereotypes. If you have viewed any news story about the payday loan industry, chances are that it had a negative connotation. The story probably consisted of a “real” person, whose misfortunes were fueled by getting a payday loan, thrusting them into an “endless cycle of debt. Many of these “articles” illustrate a story in which they needed money to fix their car or pick up the tab on another or another unexpected expense. These stories just go to show that the media will only report the juiciest, most scandalous aspect of any big story and ignore every other detail, in order to win over viewers. The CW network is no different; it appears that they are just trying to recover viewers lost during the Writer’s Strike. The preview contains the tag line, “for this family of loan sharks, money is easy.” It should be interesting to find out if the shows creators did any actual research on the industry. Chances are, probably not.

That is why in important

That is why in important areas such as financial instruments a common standard who significantly improves mortgage reporting and leads to a lower complex method is required. The path to achieving convergence will undoubtedly be challenging but the remit we have based on what i read in policymakers is clear.

ENGAGING WITH THE WORLD

Polls suggest that in contrast to his predecessor, Mr Obama is very popular in many countries - a big change, which he is likely to exploit.

He has pledged to give a major speech in the Muslim world early in 2009 - perhaps in Egypt, or in Indonesia (home to the world's largest Muslim community) where he lived for a brief period as a child.

If he can improve America's standing in the world, it will be easier for him to ask more from America's allies - to persuade Nato members to send more troops to Afghanistan, or Israel to make concessions as part of an invigorated Middle East peace process.

Mr Obama has pledged to "make progress on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict a key diplomatic priority from day one". International goodwill could be key if he is to succeed where so many of his predecessors have failed. Canadian payday loans
