John McCain's Bold, Gutsy New Ad
Submitted by Patrick Ruffini on Tue, 07/08/2008 - 14:26
More signs that a change is in the air. This is a good ad:
This is the kind of ad I love. Why? Because it tells a story. You can't change the opponent's message. But you can put it in a broader context that makes it a liability.
Though the left will howl about the comparison of Obama and the '60s, the ad still works, bringing everything back to McCain's service. It certainly feels as if a "reset" button has been pushed in Crystal City.

Yes!
This is exactly the type of ad McCain needs to open up the election. I know people will try to argue otherwise, but you can't change the MSM's narrative about how great Obama is by yelling about it. What you can do is define yourself to the American public. This is exactly it. McCain's story is awe inspiring and to discuss it so frankly is what can begin to rope more independent minded voters in.
Don't Hope for a Better Live...Vote For One!
Best sound bite of the entire election. Great, great ad.
And if McCain is Maverick enough to appoint Sarah Palin as VP, well, now we're really talkin'. Reihan Salam endorsed Palin yesterday while discussing Grand New Party in an interview with Michael Medved.
I want a yard sign that says...
I want a yard sign that says "Don't Hope for a Better Life... Vote for One! John McCain 2008"
How about...
"Don't Hope for a Better Life... Work for One! John McCain 2008"
Libs hope for a better life, or vote for someone in the hope that that someone will somehow give them a better life.
Conservatives take control of their lives and work towards having a better one..

I too was inspired by this ad and published this image on KeepThatFaith.com Please feel free to use it far and wide.
Great Images
I downloaded the Keep That Faith image in royal blue. It makes the creepy Shepard Fairey Soviet-style Obama posters look even creepier. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
Great Ad!
It hits at Obama's central theme, and shows the absurdity of it. It also associates Obama with the radical left in a round-about way by comparing him to the 1960's generation.
It's done in a way that doesn't make it seem like an attack ad, and does a good job of recounting McCain's impressive biography.
Finally, a good ad! Let's keep them coming.
Great Ad!
This ad really seems to fit with the new campaign theme being put out after the recent shake up, which is great news. This can be part of a real winning strategy.
I particularly like how many great points this ad makes without seeming haphazard or checklisty. It associates Obama with liberal 60's radicalism, calls his rethoric empty and him a spineless flip flopper. On a more positive note it brings up McCain's heroic actions, mentions many of his accomplishments, brings up his bi-partinship maverick persona, and tells us he's a trustworthy straight talker. Yet it does all those within a coherant story that makes it all fit together.
Great, great ad
one of the best, so far. Blows BHO's out of the water - especially since the ad accentuates the REAL accomplishments of JM. Good stuff - looking forward to more. Love the "don't hope for a better life" line too....slam.
