Palin's speech is particularly important tonight. The American people don't know her, and so this will be their introduction.

And therein lies the problem for the media. Dan Quayle reinforced the "not ready" narrative by making numerous gaffes, including at his announcement, and otherwise acting in ways unexpected of a Vice President.

Sarah Palin hasn't done that. Her introduction speech was pretty strong. Tonight, she'll put some more meat on the bones. Once the American people see that Palin in the national spotlight is not a bumbling idiot, or out of her league, Democrats won't have a leg to stand on.

My Thoughts

May they burn in Hell for what they are doing to this fine woman.

I'll wait for the meat

I hardly think a prepared speech that's certainly not written by Palin herself is really much meat.  If she can't hit this out of the park, then she really sucks.  This is easy.  The real meat comes when (and If) McCain ever lets her speak to the press and at the debate.  That's where we'll see if she is out of her league.

We can cut her some slack now for not speaking to the press as she's preparing for the speech, but I'll be curious to see how sheltered she is after the convention.  I'll also be curious to see how much, as Palin put it  concerning Clinton, "whining" we'll see in regards to the Press's treatment of her.

Oh, please!

Did you see her speech the day McCain appointed her his VP nominee in Dayton?  Not only did she completely knock everyone's socks off and received standing ovations from people who were standing and applauding "a TV screen" as they put it, she did it all completely off the cuff, herself, in her own words, without a teleprompter

She's going to hit one out of the park tonight.  She may have a Midwestern Nice accent, but the most notable thing missing from Palin's public speaking career is the vast array of "umm's" and "uhh's" that we see every single time Barack Obama is forced to simply express himself in public without his TP.  She's also going to kick butt in the Biden/Palin debate.

As they say in Minnesota, I'll betcha.  ;-)
