 but at least restrict him to the comment box.  This variety of "politics" may be acceptable to a small (but increasingly noisy) chunk of your coalition but honestly needs to be kept as far from public discourse as possible.  

Mr. Obama and other blacks and mulottos believe it is more important for them to be African than to be a plain dull American Patriot , Wow How Dull it is for him and other blacks and mulottos to be just a plain dull American.

The term "mulatto" hasn't been viable for some time now, because it was one of the wedge terms used by slave owners in the south to organize a hierarchy based on skin shade.  Brown Societies were basically faux white societies that owned slaves and brutalized darker skin blacks, but were also forced to remain deferent to the white population.  

There is no "plain dull American Patriot."  Many people have different ideas about what constitutes the American citizen and how this position should articulate itself.  That's one of the great things about this country!  Regionally, you will find very different incarnations of patriotism, and even within geographical locales concepts vary widely.  Further, Obama has never given voice to the sentiment you accuse him of bearing.  I'm not even going to get into the absurdity of you asking non-white Americans to be more like you culturally and politically.  I thank God I have as little to do with your perspective as possible.  

Personally, I find "Patriotism" as an ideology to be highly ineffective.  It's always based on a nostalgic reverence for a society that never existed in the pure terms assumed by its devotees.  It burdens its bearer with a prejudice against ideas that fall outside of the range of societal formation that this initial myth allows.  It's inherently non-pragmatic.  The Constitution, for me, is a sufficient safeguard against a violation of founding principles and doesn't need to be reinforced by a dogmatic "Americanism" which has always been a fluid and contested term.  Obama is not with me on this, his conception of patriotism is somewhere between mine and yours, but closer to yours.  If by patriotism you mean simply "I am devoted to improving the nation I was born into", this is trivial and why charges of "Anti-Americanism" directed at people *actually working in government* are so absurd. 

Elsewhere, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you mean "racist" not "raciest," or perhaps Obama is sending a tingle up your leg too.

Sarah Palin's candidacy was a disappointment.  I say this because her convention speech was outstanding.  I don't blame Sarah Palin the person for not giving a shit about national policy up until this point in her life, and by the time the debate rolled around she had learned how to evade questions aimed at the holes in her knowledge base, but obviously irreparable damage had been done.  You can question motivation, intention, agency in the media all you want but if she was a policy wonk her appeal would have been much broader.  This is what those of us on the left initially feared she might be, and what we were very relieved to find out she was definitely not (the prospect of her in office became exponentially scarier but much less likely).  You act like she was a spectacular candidate who just got treated badly and that's why the ticket lost.  It's more complex than that.  Her candidacy was perfect for the mid to late 90's when social issues and culture could dominate the political discourse.  Today, especially post economic crisis, she has very little to offer to anyone outside the base.  

I think that this kind of commentary detracts from what we're trying to do at this blog.
