Noemie Emery Gets It Wrong

Or at least one thing.  And that is when she writes "Patrolling the world is not an idea that appeals to Obama by nature, nor one he can reach without strain." and attributes is to Obama's growing up "outside of the mainland, with an outsider's view of America's presence, and when he came here, he gravitated to its more radical critics. He ran against force and the projection of power until it happened that he became president -- the final insider -- and the job of protecting the country was his."

What percentage of Americans does Emery think find the idea of "patrolling the world" appealing, rather than an unwelcome and tragic burden, which they consent to carry because the cost of bearing that burden seems less than the cost of putting it down?

But other than that, the article has its virtues, especially its desciption of Obama's possible problems in having to govern with a liberal-heavy coalition in domestic politics and a conservative-heavy coalition in Afghanistan.  Here is the link  http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columns/Coming-to-terms-with-his-own-presidency-8640826-78793792.html (h/t Contentions)
