GOP Needs Taller Nominees

Seriously. The tallest candidate have won the presidency almost every time against the shorter candidate. Hussein will be the 9th tallest president on record. John McCain was clobbered in the height comparo standing no more than 2 inches taller than Sarah Palin at 5'6". Don't give me that crap about correlation isn't causation, you can communicate conservative principles stronger and clearer if you are taller than the Demo in your way. Taller means looking more presidential. I am not kidding when I say that my choice of the next GOP nominee will be based partly on how comptetitive they are in height compared to Hussein.

Don't even see much of a correlation ...
GWB was shorter than both Kerry and Gore. Ford was taller than Carter. McGovern taller than Nixon (so a shorter candidate can even win in a landslide!).
The statistics show that the taller candidate has a slight advantage, but there are just too many exceptions. Also, in a number of recent cases, the difference is only 1/2 of an inch, thus barely noticeable.
Also, FDR accounts for 4 of the elections in the 20th century. Despite the fact that he couldn't stand unassisted, he was nevertheless elected each time.
Didnt Work for John Kerry
And I think the election of Barack Obama break the mold on superficial items that would get you elected / unelected.
Who in 2003 would have predicted that "Within 5 years a non-white guy with a Muslim Dad and a middle name of Hussein would be elected president."
... oh "and he'll beat a war hero"
Actually, that brings to mind a bizarre thing ... Military service has been a detriment to every candidate in the past 20 years!
Served in military in wartime: McCain, Kerry, Gore, Dole, GHWB
Served in peacetime military: Dukakis, Carter
Reagan served wartime in the army in Hollywood making training films.
GWB served in Air national guard only stateside.
Clinton and Obama didnt serve in military at all.
The only election since 1980 that the guy with more significant military service won was 1988.
Thanks for the contributions
Ok, so I am mistaken. FT you brought up some of the issues that makes this lost stinging. McCain was representing all the right demographics, while Obama is nearly the exact opposite. Yet, we lost. Can't blame me for looking for a way out that won't involve an ideological civil war within the GOP.
So We Declare War on Short People, Instead?
Seriously, I'd look at a 13 keys model. McCain may have been able to win despite himself in a less crummy environment for conservatives.
