"Could you help a brother out? No more national conventions with 36 people of color in the room," Steele told fellow Republicans on Monday, according to the Miami Herald.

seriously, that was my first thought. he counted how many people of color were in the room??

He could have just as easily pulled that number out of the air, solely as a rhetorical device. His point was still legitimate.

I found the number funny, and the thought that he might have counted funny as well.

I read black blogs -- they watched the Republican Convention to see how many blacks were there. I guess it just shows how much more in touch Steele is... ;-)
