Quick Thought on Lipstick

You know, when I first heard the "lipstick" comment, I kind of rolled my eyes.  No way that it was meant as a reference to Palin, especially given the larger context of the speech.  Then I read how it was paired with a reference to an "old fish" trying to wrap itself in change.  And it became quite a bit more difficult to imagine that the analogy he was drawing wasn't intentional.

The left, of course, is apoplectic.  Every reference to every person who ever knew McCain or Palin who used the term is being trotted out, even at good lefty blogs like OpenLeft.  Andrew Sullivan's histrionics, temporarily abated for a couple days for some unknown reason that can only be explained in German, is now once again outraged:

We are being asked to believe that he called Sarah Palin a pig. If the people making that accusation have half a brain they know it's not true. This is not a question of interpretation. It is a fact. So we now find out again that John McCain is prepared to tell an absolute lie - in public, verifiable, uncontestable.

He does not have the minimal public integrity to be president of the United States.

Just remember, these are the same people who were absolutely certain that putting Obama in the same ad as Paris and Britney sent a subliminal message to us white folk that Obama had a penchant for white women (in fairness, Sullivan considered it an open question).  Which seems like more of a stretch to you?

Heh, Is Obama having his macaca moment???

Heh, Is Obama having his macaca moment???

Or is it racist to say that???

this is the saying

The real saying, the one that Barack Obama isnt aware of is: You can put a silk dress on a pig and its still a pig.

He used lipstick. Palin was known for her lipstick comment. He was well aware of what he was doing.  Obama has nothing left but the far left radical moveon.org people left in his base who will vote for him.  So after trying to appear moderate, the silk dress is coming off the real pig and we see now how he's living up to his reputation as the most leftist liberal in the Senate's history.

Mr.L

misogynist vs. racist

I agree.  Everyone is ignoring the "old fish" line.  Obama added the "old" which is obviously a direct reference to McCain which makes the "pig in lipstick" Palin.

One other thing...

What if while referring to Obama hypocrisy McCain uttered the words "now that is the pot calling the kettle black".  Would everyone be so quick to brush it aside?  Saying McCain was talking about Obama's hypocrisy?  Or that McCain misspoke?  No.  he would be labeled a racist.  Charlie, Katie and the gang would be foaming at the mouth calling him an out of touch racist old coot.  Everyone would be demanding that he remove himself from the race.

So why is it okay to be a misogynist but not a racist?  Why are they not in the same league.  Aren't they both protected classes?

A bigot under every bed

Of course they wouldnt. Even now McCain's ads have been labelled 'racist' for nothing more than imagined connections and going after Obama. They played the race card in July and they are playing it now.

The double standard is real.

"So why is it okay to be a misogynist but not a racist?"

Only conservatives get tagged that. Dont ask me why, the Leftists trademarked the terms. I think Barack "sweetie" Obama cant be called a 'sexist' without us ending up in the muck of a liberal-moderated therapy group.

Obama took the low road on his comments and to take umbrage and great offense would show the kind of thin skin that Obama himself displays. It's politics.  But Obama's no better than a Chicago pol. So it would be best to note it and keep the fire on the difference between Obama's claims and his real actions ....

you know stuff like this ...

McCain spokesman Brian Rogers responds: “Barack Obama can’t campaign with schoolyard insults and then try to claim outrage at the tone of the campaign. His talk of new politics is as empty as his campaign trail promises, and his record of bucking his party and reaching across the aisle simply doesn’t exist.”

Anyone who seriously believes that "Lipstick on a Pig"

is some obscure reference, please take a look at Elizabeth Berry's blog at Democrat.org.  I'll give you a little preview:

pig-lipstick

The really creepy thing about this is that when I watched the actual video of him speaking about this in front of a live audience, who laugh hilariously, I'm completely reminded of his mentor, Reverend Wright, making a funny about Hillary Clinton in front of the congregation, who laugh hilariously. Is that just me, or does anyone else get that same vibe?

racist to call Obama a mud-slinger?

Let me get this straight:

There is outrage that there is outrage over a candidate making an outrage related to barnyard animals against a candidate who was smeared outrageously by the same folks (A.S.) who now are most outraged by what they call faux outrage.  All with the same opinion that no human would want to be called a pig. ... If I were a pig, I'd be offended somehow.

Remember the other pig reference the feminists use to use? Male Chauvanist Pig

Was that an outrage? Maybe the men back then should have expressed offense, but guys being MCPs would never think to whine about such things. Not very manly.

The Hillary/Obama primary got derailed by such outrages over outrages. It worked for Obama then because the 'racism' line is like catnip to blacks and progressives, but it wont now.

Let Obama be Obama, the flailing and failing candidate ... when you start wrestling a pig, you end up covered in mud. Let us note his low road and stick to the high road without too much whining about Obama's hypocrisy. Obama's low road one liners wont win him an election.

at Hireheels.com, Princess Wears Prada is hailin' Palin

PUMAs rule.  So does Camille Paglia.  Sisters are doin' it for Sarah thanks to Barack Obama's big mouth.  This is from PUMAS Unleashed regarding The One's Community Organizin' ways:

“One of Obama’s early mentors in the Alinsky method was Mike Kruglik, who had this to say to an interviewer of The New Republic, about Obama:

“He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation, who could engage a room full of recruiting targets in a rapid-fire Socratic dialogue, nudging them to admit that they were not living up to their own standards. As with the panhandler, he could be aggressive and confrontational. With probing, sometimes personal questions, he would pinpoint the source of pain in their lives, tearing down their egos just enough before dangling a carrot of hope that they could make things better.”

The agitator’s job, according to Alinsky, is first to bring folks to the “realization” that they are indeed miserable, that their misery is the fault of unresponsive governments or greedy corporations, then help them to bond together to demand what they deserve, and to make such an almighty stink that the dastardly governments and corporations will see imminent “self-interest” in granting whatever it is that will cause the harassment to cease.”

“In these methods, euphemistically labeled “community organizing,” Obama had a four-year education, which he often says was the best education he ever got anywhere.”

The worst thing the GOP can do...

...right now is to even consider the moans, howling and complaints of the democrats.  What Sullivan said about "half a brain" - well that's what he and his ilk on the left [and he has migrated left] think of the American people/voter.  An "old fish wrapped in newspaper and a pig with lipstick".  We folks out here at the Streetlevel know exactly that Obama was using this terminology to brand the GOP candidates.

What the GOP is doing is resonating. Its working.  They should keep the intense pressure on this slime on the left.   There's too much at stake now to back off. DD
