Jindal calls for stopping earmarks and corruption

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal talks about how stopping earmarks is the path back to a majority:

 The key parts:

It's about opposing these earmarks, these bridges to nowhere. It's about going after corruption. Whether they're Republicans or Democrats, we can't make excuses for them. It's about being on principled positions. ... Republicans aren't going to get the majority simply by being cheaper Democrats. We've got to stick to our core principles and understand the reason that conservatives go out and vote is they want lower taxes and effective, competent government. They're not looking for earmarks or cheaper versions of liberal programs.

Why aren't more people saying this stuff? This guy is single handedly reshaping his state after running on reversing a history of corruption.

In particular, why haven't the Republicans offered an ethics pledge like a tax pledge? We have a couple of primaries that will be a showdown over ethics. Sean Parnell in Alaska (give here) but who else?

Congrats on the great new site.

From what I know of him, I hope Jindal is The Next Right. McCain and the likes, including Bush, are far to liberal/socialistic to suit me.

Corrupt, Wasteful Spending is a winning agrument

America is sick and tired of watching the Federal Gov spend money like drunken sailors!  People want the gov to be accountable for what they do.  Earmarks are the hot topic right now and i think that is due to what they represent; which is dirty back room politics.  it is dirty politics.

The Rep's got tossed out for all the corruption and scandals.  The Dem's now just use the earmark system to give favors to companies who support them.  Look at the Farm bill that just passed not to long ago.  And, then look and see how much of that bill went to farmers.  Congress added so much pork to that bill it is obscene.  Standing up to wasteful spending in times where the economy is struggling and leaving more money in peoples pockets is a fight that Republicans can win.  If we return to the party we once were we will take back the majority.

Jindal is the new face of the GOP

this is the one issue all aspects of the GOP can rally around and get people motivated up and down the ticket....Bobby gets it I just wish more did...

Jindal

has a very bright future in the GOP. I've heard Louisianans rave about him. I don't think he'll win the VP nom, but I hope we'll see him on the national stage soon.

Convention Keynote Speech

Should be given by Bobby Jindal....that will get the place rockin!

That's what I'm hoping. Plus,

That's what I'm hoping. Plus, it may do for his career what the 2004 keynote did for Obama's.

They Don't Get It

Nothing demonstrates more of what's wrong with our party than the issue of earmarks. This should be a slam dunk for us, funding rainforests in Iowa or the troops ect. From an administration perspective it was really quite funny to watch bureaucrats sit around a conference room table and say we have 10 million dollars we don't need and don't want to spend that's going to be wasted, while these things we actually need money for we can't get.

It shows you just how fake and out of touch our leadership is in the house and senate, I am talking about you Roy Blunt who's married to a lobbyist btw, and you Adam Putnam, when they refuse to cut wasteful spending like this.

Then again when you look at how cozy these people have become with K street rather than main street values, I would almost rather have a democrat in those seats committing this garbage so that we could take aim at them and get a fresh ambitious face in there to fight for us.
