It is not an accident that there are so many Republicans -- John Boehner, Jeb Hensarling, and Ted Poe -- in this, and that the Democrats -- Brian Baird and Bobby Scott -- are Democrats who are sometimes gettable on Republican votes.
Transparency is an issue that Republicans will win every time in the war of ideas, and the House Democrats are already uncomfortable.
Just last week, Blue Dogs and liberals like Peter DaFazio asked for more regular order. The Democrats are exposed. The Democrats know it.
Now it is time for Republicans to stand up and win this fight once and for all.

Freedom comes from more knowledge.
"Transparency is an issue
"Transparency is an issue that Republicans will win every time in the war of ideas" ?!?
The GOP is talking the talk now, but they have shown over the past 8 years that walking that path is something they cannot or refuse to do. Patrick Ruffini (sp?) has it right - the GOP will be ignored by a majority of the folks on this subject until they actually start doing something about transparency in their own house. Simple parroting "President Obama / The Senate / The House is not being transparent in their actions" while shedding crocodile tears is ineffective.
Is transparency a good idea? It's a damn good idea! But just as the guy whose wife has sported a black eye periodically will be ignored or derided by his neighbors when he says "you know, you should be extra nice to your wife", the GOP will be ignored and derided.
Transparency is a great idea
But the GOP will fight it tooth and nail at the national and state levels. They must be shown that not only is it a good strategy it's the right thing to do.

it provides an excellent 'recurring narrative'... and a way to implement free market principles in... err... the free market!
This is a bipartisan issue.
Thanks for bringing this up. As a fiercely bipartisan organization, we believe in this simple reform and have therefore endorsed it - something we don't do very often. Check out http://youstreet.org/blog/another-common-sense-reform to learn more and see Boehner's thoughts on the issue.
Secondly, we love finding other Drupal sites! Nice work.
