We have failed to poison the well

For good reasons, the Democrats have successfully tarred Republicans with "corruption." We have and have had criminals in our midst like Ted Stevens, Jack Abramoff, Bob Ney, and others. We have done an inadequate job of shooting our own criminals in public, although the response to Stevens is encouraging.

In that context Sean makes an important point:

Voters who remember the results of liberal excess in the 1970s grow increasingly few and far between. Most voters don’t recall that the scandals which engulfed the GOP Congress were preceded by similar scandals that plagued Democrats for most of the 80s and early 90s; how many people today remember that the Democratic Speaker and Majority Whip both resigned as a result of separate ethical scandals in the 101st Congress?

People have certainly forgotten the old tales of Democratic corruption. We are also failing to tell today's stories of the corruption of Democrats and their allies. Some of this is media bias, but some is that we are not doing a good enough job of generating our own content. We have had Nancy Pelosi raising the minimum wage for everywhere but where she has financial interest. We have Ben Nelson giving earmarks to companies run by his children. Paul Kanjorski, Chris Dodd, John Murtha, etc. We have systemic union corruption. We have groups like ACORN who, at the least, establish incentive structures that encourage election fraud.

Where are we telling these stories?

Liberal MSM in forget mode

The Liberal MSM sure can't inform us, but they can make most people uninformed and forgetful.

We have had Nancy Pelosi raising the minimum wage for everywhere but where she has financial interest. We have Ben Nelson giving earmarks to companies run by his children. Paul Kanjorski, Chris Dodd, John Murtha, etc.

BTW, lets not forget Jefferson and his 'frozen assets'. I know there is more. The WV Congressman (forget the name ... see?) Feinstein and her hubby's contract. Need to get a list going.

MSM freezout is no excuse

What we have to do is FORCE the MSM to cover Democratic corruption.  Take the Jeremiah Wright situation for example.  If there was no conservative talk radio or cable TV or YouTube, then the MSM would've been content with ignoring the situation.  But when everyone on the right started talking about it, and when multiple Jeremiah Wright clips were on YouTube, and when people sent e-mails to everyone they knew about that nut, then people started noticing and the MSM eventually HAD to cover it, no matter how small their coverage was.

I think the key is first to build pressure on the right, and then spread the gospel to others.  I wonder how many even on the right are aware of these scandals?  You might be surprised how few actually know about these things.  Then when there's a talk radio drumbeat and a mass of e-mails, the MSM will have a hard time ignoring what we are saying.  They'll never give it the attention it deserves, but it will get the message out.

The Dem List continues...

The WV Rep is Mollohan.  I believe he made some questionable land deals with a friend/lobbyist.  What I like to call the Duke Cunningham Special.

Let's not forget about these gems:

1) Bob Menendez's laundering of federal tax money back to himself via a non-profit company that rents from a building he owns.

2) DSCC Chairman Chuck Schumer's questionable letters to the President of the Phillipines asking for the more nurses to be sent to the senior care facility in New York that happens to have one of his biggest fund raisers as the legal counsel.

3) Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's hefty profits from a sale of property that he had not owned in years.

4) Rep. Pat Kennedy's excellent choice in self-medicating concoctions before racing back to the Capitol for a "vote" that he was late for...at 2 in the morning.

5)And my favorite, Bill Clinton's firing of all 93 DOJ U.S. Attorneys for no good reason.

The question remains: Why are these stories not resonating with the press and the American voters?  This is just as much our fault as it is the press.

The is a difference in corruption

Republicans are harmed more by corruption than Democrats.  When you are giving groups government handouts. who cares if politicians take a little for themselves.  However, when conservatives talk about cutting government, cutting taxes, and more individual responsbility, any hint of corruption destroys the crediblitiy.

Republicans need a policy of zero tolerance for corruption or even the appearance of corrution.  That should not take anything from anyone. They should have have a single family member of the payroll, And most impotant, they cannot have a tolerance for any hint of corruption

A good place to start to make sure that anyone who ever worked in the Bush Administration never works in politics or the government again.  Until everything from the failures of the Bush Administraiton is eliminated, conservatives cannot move forward.
