FYI, Stewart and Colbert are Libertarians - not Democrats.  One of their finest moments was a great satiric skit on Global Warming at the Academy Awards - and yes, Al Gore was in the front row. 

Stewart believes in freedom, liberty, and equal opportunity ridicule of both parties.  And since Barack provides such a rich tapestry of ridicule opportunity, for the first time in my adult life I'm actually proud of The Daily Show.  Heh.

I think Jon Stewart is funny as hell. He always has been, I've watched his show since I was like 13. But I usually in sharp disagreement with him politically. He is really a liberal democrat, with a small libertarian streak. I am also often irritated by the differences in tone and intensity of criticism when discussing republicans and democrats.  Yet as a proffessional comedian he is more than willing to make fun of Obama, thankfully. I look forward to watching THAT all fall.

That’s how the Daily Show host describes himself in response to Bill Kristol’s calling him an “Upper West Side liberal.” Note also that Stewart pushes the idea that neoconservatism exhibits the worst tendencies of utopian liberalism—a notion I’ll choose to believe, against all odds, he cribbed from me.
