The "Doh" Opportunity for the Right
"Centralisation of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly." -- Plank 5 of The Communist Manifesto
Citing The Communist Manifesto in political arguments is something I rarely do, as it seems eirily similar to invoking Godwin's Law. I always thought Atlas Shrugged was merely a long, ideological novel. I never expected it to be a book of prophesy and revelation.
Here are a few of today's headlines from Google News:
- Should We Nationalize U.S. Banks?
- "Nationalization" Not A Nasty Term
- Nationalizing banks gains GOP steam?
- Graham: Nationalizing Banks Should Be On The Table

- Nationalization: Is It the Only Answer to Save Banks?
- Roubini tells Geithner to nationalise US banks Of Nationalization and Stimulation
- Republicans call for bank nationalization

- Can We Just Nationalize the Banks Already
Last week, Newsweek used the front cover of their magazine to declare that "We are all Socialists Now." The week, Time's warning is even more ominous: "The Case for Nationalizing the Entire Economy."
If the right can't figure out and unite behind the obvious mission plan of this day and age, they are an entire load short of being a full load of bricks.
