Albany Times Union: Opponents of Obama health care takeover are Nazis

Well, we have a winner, A major metropolitan newspaper violates Godwin"s Law and abandons all pretenses of being anything other than a shill for the DNC.  Go tell George Soros liberal media bias is alive and well in New York State.

Some of the high points in this trip down the low road.

"right wing front groups" " smear reform efforts" "front group"  "fool them into believing there is wide opposition to reform" "Putcht-like"

Jeez, folks, the New York Times found "wide opposition to reform" Are they too a tool of evil Republican lobbyists?

I suppose the oh so clever Mr. Karlin thinks present day Republicans and libertarians  are emulating this event by getting to the public forums early and being a tad bit rude to elected officials.

It's actually kind of disgusting to think that the mainstream press, who wrap themselves in the First Amendment when it suits their interests, now openly advocating silencing ordinary citizens trying to exercise the same right themselves.

Why does the Palin bashing seem "TANG"y?--I "Rather" think we've seen this before

Post- election Palin bashing seems to have left the reality-based community

and now we find some of the alleged critics may not even be part of "reality"

I suspect there may be some cattiness and bad blood with some McCain staffers--inevitable in a losing campaign---but it seems like liberal saboteurs have been fueling the fire by adding to ; embellishing, or flat out fabricating new tales of misbehavior on the Alaska Governor's part---and by posing as angry McCain staffers--scamming a credulous news media .

Who knows, maybe all these rumors are getting sent from a Kinko's in Anchorage?  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rathergate

Maybe some flunky for Carl Cameron will insist a friend of Nicolle Wallace passed all this stuff to him at a cattle show or something

Mac counterattack: New ad links Obama to Palin smears

In the "we're not gonna take it "department, the McCain-Palin campaign has launched a new TV countering the tidal surge of dreck the Nutroots,  the MSM and the Obama camp have poured at Governor Palin

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/10/mccain-ad-fact-check/

I'm sure that Obama himself will claim this ad inaccurately associates him with every vile innuendo thrown at Ms. Palin, but:

a) those people launching the smears were the folks you catered to so as to win the nomination. Since now you like old style rural phrases, you gotta dance with the girl ya brung, Barack

b) If you didn;t want to be associated with a smear campaign, sending 30 operatives to Anchorage to dig dirt is not how one avoids association with said smear campaign

I also love the use of wolves as a symbol of a predator. It is very reminiscent of what may have been the most effective political ad since "Daisy", the 1984 "Bear" ad for Reagan.

CT Radio Host does one stop Palin pushback

Up here in deep blue CT, Palinhysteria is in full throated frenzy, as evidently not enough aromatic candles exists to calm the unhinged BoBo's shocked that a working class Christian might get elected to high office.

One man doing yeoman's work in defense of our gal is Jim Vicevich on WTIC-AM in Hartford. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Vicevich http://www.wtic.com/pages/14065.php?contentType=4&contentId=111082

Today on his web page he posts the list of facts versus Palin fiction http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/separating-palin-fact-from-palin-fiction/ He also provides a rather thorough deconstruction of a particularly demented slash columm in this weekend's Hartford Courant authored by a two-time loser for the Governor's office in CT.  http://radiovice.blogspot.com/2008/09/debunking-crazy-loony-left-palin-claims.html

Vicevich is going to be launching a better website shortly and I will link to that when it launches

Folks, we are not going to let the "Slow Boat" campaign of manufactured outrage accomplish anything other than embarrassing the participants.

Defending Barack Obama

Crossposted at Right Minds

The Republican party has gotten very good at attacking Barack Obama. When the election season began, he was regarded as a political god—Oprah called him “the One,” young people flocked to his rallies, and Obama managed to defeat the powerful Clinton family with just a smile and a speech.

Since then, the Republicans have changed all that. They have not been kind to Obama—McCain has released some blistering anti-Obama ads, the conservative media has expertly punctured Obama’s change rhetoric, and the Republican National Convention has been all about bashing Obama. One line of conservative attack attempts to portray Obama as a messianic, inexperienced celebrity. This is perfectly acceptable—one can disagree with it (I don’t), but it is based on fact. Another line tries to paint Obama as an elitist un-American. This isn’t acceptable.

I have always thought that the elitist label, as applied to Barack Obama was a) unfair, and b) irrelevant. The charge seems to rest on only a few Obama statements: there was the “have you seen the price of arugula at Whole Foods” line delivered in Iowa (a state without a single Whole Foods store), and the “bitter/clinging” controversy. To be honest, I can’t get too excited over the “arugula” line—Obama has money, and criticizing him because he buys expensive food is seems dangerously close to class warfare.

As for the “bitter” line (summarized: bitter Americans cling to guns and religion), it was monumentally stupid, but not beyond the pale. It is basically a standard Democrat talking point—conservative Americans are uneducated rubes. An unfair assessment, to be sure, but hardly something unusual.

I happen to agree that many Americans are bitter, but rather than clinging to guns or religion, I think that most clinging Americans cling to protectionism or “change.” These statements are not proof of some overriding elitism on the part of Barack Obama.

And even if they were, is elitism such a bad thing? Both John McCain and Barack Obama are probably far smarter than most Americans. (Disagree? Remember, one out of four Americans can’t identify the United States on a map). Why must they pretend to be regular Joes who just happen to be running for president? John McCain is rich, and Barack Obama graduated from Harvard. Both candidates should be proud of these things, not smeared as elitists for them.

Some would argue that Obama’s (or McCain’s, depending on who’s making the argument) elitism ensures that he cannot appreciate the struggles of ordinary Americans. No presidential candidate can, since no presidential candidate can be an ordinary American. Presidential candidates are, almost by definition, wildly successful and rich men. The better candidate is the more competent one, not the one who can better fake being “in touch” with ordinary Americans.

A far more insidious charge, in my mind, is the accusation of un-Americanism. Obama is a poor presidential candidate—but his life story cannot be described as anything other than inspiring. He did what conservatives have spent decades advising minorities to do—he worked hard, got through college, and became a successful man. And this despite being born into an extremely difficult situation—a man caught between two races, two countries (remember, Obama spent much of his childhood in Indonesia), and two families. It would be a tough situation for anyone to overcome—yet Obama overcame it, and flourished.

He has carved out a good career in politics, written two books (okay, they were both memoirs; maybe he’s a little self-centered, but still, that’s more books than most people have written), raised a beautiful family, and provided all Americans with an inspirational story of determination. Obama’s life is far from un-American; on the contrary, it is a quintessential American success story.

Barack Obama is the enemy—but conservatives should ensure that their attacks on him are ethical. John McCain says that it is better to lose an election than to lose a war—and perhaps is also better to lose an election than to unfairly smear a candidate. There are more than enough legitimate arguments against Barack Obama to win the election.

99 Bottles of Beers on the Wall (Or how many Dems can attack Mac's war record)

I think it's time to start a drinking game about the not so subtle Democratic character attack directed at McCain's military service credentials

Within hours of Obama claiming he honored John McCain's service and patriotism, yet another Demo-hack decided to take more shots in that direction

" an informal Obama adviser argued Monday that the former POW's isolation during the Vietnam War has hobbled the Arizona senator's capacity as a war-time leader.

“Sadly, Sen. McCain was not available during those times, and I say that with all due respect to him," said informal Obama adviser Rand Beers. "I think that the notion that the members of the Senate who were in the ground forces or who were ashore in Vietnam have a very different view of Vietnam  and the cost that you described than John McCain does because he was in isolation essentially for many of those years and did not experience the turmoil here or the challenges that were involved for those of us who served in Vietnam during the Vietnam war."

"So I think," he continued, "to some extent his national security experience in that regard is sadly limited and I think it is reflected in some of the ways that he thinks about how U.S. forces might be committed to conflicts around the world."

Now I suspect Mr. Beers never spent more time in captivity than maybe a besotted night in the Arlington County lockup, but needless to say, this time spent in Hanoi "sadly limited" Senator McCain.

I suppose by that score Nelson Mandela must be the most "limited" world statesmen of the past century, doncha think?

Also notice the faux yuppie sympathy herein "sadly limited".....is this the foreign policy version of "bitter people clinging to guns"?

Mr. Beers...your attack has fallen flat and now you can deal with the hangover, sudshead

National Review says we are now up to eight Obama supporters who have attacked McCain's military service. http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/ None of them served with McCain and I suspect many have a rather "chickendove" record on military issues.  And do you think it's going to stop....hell no!

This is clearly a concerted effort by the Democrats to diminish the salience of McCain's military service so an unabashed peacenik doesn;t look so bad in comparison.

So, here's my drinking game. Every time one hears another Democrat talking head lecture us on the deficiencies of McCain's military record, we should go out a buy a six-pack of some fine domestically brewed lager. ......then again, me thinks we'll be switching to McDoul's soon since it will probably become an hourly occurrence.

Democrats Against Curing AIDS in Africa

If you have liberal friends, by now you've probably gotten this video emailed to you.

In it, a professional actor playing the role of a doctor explains his reason for voting Republican: "I don't want a cure for AIDS or breast cancer."

The liner notes helpfully explain:

The Bush administration has been more interested in promoting AIDS treatment in Africa (for the benefit of American pharmaceutical companies) than in assisting American citizens who have AIDS.  The administration has also withheld money from organizations in Africa that distribute condoms in attempts to control the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Because treating AIDS in Africa couldn't possibly be important or anything. An estimated 22.5 million people are HIV positive in Sub-Saharan Africa, and nearly 100 times more people died of AIDS-related illnesses in Africa than died in North America last year.
